And those guys don't have a statue.

Imagine building a statue for a manager because he won nothing and got us 4th.

I love the bloke, but I reckon he'd be absolutely embarrassed by the suggestion. The job isn't done.

Yes of course I agree,  thats why I said "In reality, It's a bit of a fun question"

Serious answer: it's still too soon.

Only when we've won a major trophy with him.

Until then, he's behind Saunders and Barton in the Villa hall of fame.

I stated quite clearly "In reality, It's a bit of a fun question" and you start you reply with "serious answer" Why do people want to pour water on something thats clearly posted as a result of the joy of the moment of having our best season in over 40 years.

  3. Is it too soon to petition the board for an Unai Emery statue

We have an absolute, unrivaled, "A" list of supporters, including the future King of England and the reigning Prince of Darkness, do we need any more reason for a statue of Unai.

In reality, It's a bit of a fun question, but there has to be 100 reasons, and who knows, maybe the board will like one of them enough to do it.

Where is the Ron Saunders statue?

Lets not get carried away here. Unai is doing an amazing job and adored but we haven't one anything yet.

No one is getting carried away, thats why i said qiute clearly "It's a bit of a fun question" AND THEN SAID "Just to repeat, it's just a light hearted thing " Maybe you should read what is written before pouring water on the joy of the moment

Just to repeat, it's just a light hearted thing while I am bathing in the glory of our best season for years.

This just isn’t true. The PL is as tough a competition as any and we have beaten the best in this league.

On our day, even with this squad we can compete. The test is the long road of the season when injuries and fatigue set in. That’s why the “bigger” teams prevail, they have strength in depth.

Our system works well when we have our first choice 11. We will improve on that 11 and our squad depth in the next two seasons. We will become a force to reckon with.

You actually validate my point by saying "on our day" and "when we have our first choice 11" I believe that to say just because we have beaten the best in this league we can compete in the champions league is doable without investing in the squad, is a risk we dont need to take. I believe, to compete in the champions league you need to be able to grind out a result when we are not "on our day" and we will need to get results when we have a weakened team because we have key players injured or just knackered and the results of the last 3 games make me believe we need to invest in the squad, I cant understand why you say that isnt true.

We can get at least a point out of this and wrap this season up!

A point dont wrap the season up though does it,  We are 7 clear of Spurs, a point only makes us 8 clear, if they win their last 3 they finish 1 point ahead of us. we need spurs to drop points, or we need 2 draws, not 1.

Can’t just give up now, a point at least secures 4th. One more big push to get us over the line (of course while hoping Tottingham lose).

How does a point secure us 4th? We are 7 clear of Spurs, a point only makes us 8 clear, if they win their last 3 they finish 1 point ahead of us. we need spurs to drop points, or we need a win from somewhere

This stadium was made for CL nights.

Need to make it a reality this season.

Think our midfield will have too much for them.

    3-1 UTV!!

The teams that do well in the CL all have at least a couple of world class players. On this performance, if we are in CL next season we will get eaten alive.

  10. I have seen many comments from people saying we dont need to buy any players in this window, as what we have is good enough.

The performance today, against a low standard team, for me shows that we clearly have no second string.

Cash scored a lucky goal, that was not going anywhere but for the deflection.

We have a great first 11, and a few that can play well off the bench, but today showed that we need more quality players to choose from so we can give our top players a propper rest .

We are still in 3 competitions and we should not have to bring players that were supposed to be rested off the bench like we did today because those on the pitch couldnt get the job done, otherwise, before the end of the season some players are going to be so knackered that our results suffer.

Although they have played two title contenders in man city and Liverpool, while we have won against 2 relegation candidates.

No No No they have played 3 title contenders, 3, 3, mmmm, I am digging myself into a hole here arnt I.

But yes, I get you point, I can dream though cant I 🙂

  13. There are no excuses the players could come up with to excuse that shower, they played like they were still on holiday in America.

It's no good saying that this player or that player had a good pre season so they deserved to get picked, the pre season games were mostly a joke, having 20 players from a team take part in a game turns it into a kick about.

There is no point in having some great summer signings and then starting with the same players in the team that were consistantly useless last season.

There were players who should no have been in the starting 11.

I believe if Emery had put Pau and Tieleymans on from the start they would have gave their all to impress. Can anyone even suggest they would have been worse than Bailey. Cash and a few others.

  14. A lot of comments about the quality on the bench, personaly I would have prefered some of it to be on the pitch, ie, anyone instead of Bailey, I hope I am wrong and he has a blinder, yes I know he has these random moments where he shines,  but he just aint got the consistant skill to be in the starting 11 of a team playing for a top 6 finish

Changing 5 of your starting 11 is stupid. That implies every signing you make is going to be an improvement and we know that isn't always the case. Konsa talked about one of the keys to Emery success was he made the team like a small family. This thread will just turn into bash current players bandwagon like many others

It.s a hypothetical question, that's why I used the word if.
