The teams that do well in the CL all have at least a couple of world class players. On this performance, if we are in CL next season we will get eaten alive.

I have seen many comments from people saying we dont need to buy any players in this window, as what we have is good enough.

The performance today, against a low standard team, for me shows that we clearly have no second string.

Cash scored a lucky goal, that was not going anywhere but for the deflection.

We have a great first 11, and a few that can play well off the bench, but today showed that we need more quality players to choose from so we can give our top players a propper rest .

We are still in 3 competitions and we should not have to bring players that were supposed to be rested off the bench like we did today because those on the pitch couldnt get the job done, otherwise, before the end of the season some players are going to be so knackered that our results suffer.

The blue kit reminds me of the pyjamas I had when I was a kid.

There are no excuses the players could come up with to excuse that shower, they played like they were still on holiday in America.

It's no good saying that this player or that player had a good pre season so they deserved to get picked, the pre season games were mostly a joke, having 20 players from a team take part in a game turns it into a kick about.

There is no point in having some great summer signings and then starting with the same players in the team that were consistantly useless last season.

There were players who should no have been in the starting 11.

I believe if Emery had put Pau and Tieleymans on from the start they would have gave their all to impress. Can anyone even suggest they would have been worse than Bailey. Cash and a few others.

A lot of comments about the quality on the bench, personaly I would have prefered some of it to be on the pitch, ie, anyone instead of Bailey, I hope I am wrong and he has a blinder, yes I know he has these random moments where he shines,  but he just aint got the consistant skill to be in the starting 11 of a team playing for a top 6 finish

It.s a hypothetical question, that's why I used the word if.

I know we need a bigger squad, what with Europe and no doubt longer cup runs this season, but, assuming the two main signings are going to be first team regulars, and I expect between 1 and 3 more to be signed, which 3 to 5 players are going to be dropped from the starting 11. Its not so hard to drop say 3 from the current 11 but if we do end up with 5 new top players what 5 would you leave on the bench from thr team that beat Brighton.

Emery is clearly building a team that will win in Europe, I cant wait.

I lived in Portugal from 1995 to 2010 and it was common to see tourists in the Algarve in a Villa shirt, however what surprised me was I have seen portuguese guys wearing a Villa shirt in Lisbon on several occasions

I see a fair amount of Villa here in Telford, and lots of Wolves but very rare to see a nose, in fact I cant remember last time I did.

My dad and his brother were born in Balsall Heath over 90 years ago. In their early 20's my dad moved to Kingstanding, all his offsprung family became Villa fans, however, my dads brother moved to Chelmsey Wood, all his offsprung family became City fans, it ripped the family in half, it wasnt untill they had both passed away that certain relatives could speak to each other again without the possibility of bloodshead, the stupid thing is neither of them were ever footie fans before they left Balsall Heath. It was the influence of the people in the areas they moved to, not the love of the game that determined who they supported. It was sad that the family got pulled apart over a feckin game.

Its not that hard to stick out in the Primeira Liga, there are 2 clubs that usually win everything between them and 2 more clubs behind them that have the odd good season and win something now and then. The middle of their primeira liga is on a par with our second tier and the lower teams in their primeira liga are on a par with our 3rd tier. So most weeks the top teams are not even tested, Felix might have stood out when he played in Portugal but has done little to impress elsewhere, everyone was gushing about Pedro Goncalves when he played in Portugal, he went to Valencia then Wolves and flopped, now he is back in Portugal again he is supposed to be amazing. Without a crystal ball of course it's impossible to know who to buy,  their have been truly world class stars emerge from Portugal, I just hope we don't end up with a Lemon.

the problem is he is basically trying to work miracles with what is not much different from the players Gerrard had, we need some fresh blood in the squad to give him the ability to change tack effectively enough to turn things around on days like today
