I loved benteke, rate him 2nd behind Yorke as the best in recent times.
However there is no guarantee he could do it in this team when the extra pressure is on, in fact when Liverpool asked that of him he folded.
Watkins is the better striker in this team for me.
Yeah we've had the benefit of seeing much more of Ollie. No doubt Benteke was an absolute beast for us and its a shame he left to embark on a downward trajectory, but Ollie has proven himself to be near top of the pile now and getting better.

Take a rough diamond and let Unai polish him off.
Waiting.

Toney is different to Kane? Not seen enough of him to know for sure but Ollie as a defence stretcher and presser is completely different to Kane, I was leaning towards it being Toney because he is more like kane and Southgate doesn't have to do anything different with him whereas Ollie I don't think Southgates set up works with him
That said Southgates set up... It's brilliant sat here seeing kane on 30+ goals chasing the bundesliga record, Watkins on 19, Solanke on 17, Palmer on 16, Bowen on 15, saka and foden on 14, Bellingham I think has over 20 - saw a stat the other day that only 5 players across Europe have 20+ goals and 10+ assists in all comps this year and 4 of them are English - knowing full well that we will look shit in front of goal this summer
We're a racing bike with stabilisers on
Yes agree. The biggest problem is not the Ollie/Ivan one....but Southgate and his cherished handbrake.

Just arguing with someone who is adamant Ivan Toney is the better option for England due to his link up play and the fact he's different to Kane. And the old chestnut Ollie had a quiet game etc etc You can't have the season Ollie is having and not be picked. Surely that is just facts?

Manager of the season by a country mile in my opinion.

He's such an important player for us. Absolutely outstanding today. He rarely has a bad game

SJM is unplayable at times. So clever on the ball and a proper bully. A Villa legend in my eyes.

Guy was cooking today. Great confidence boost given his mixed form this season. Deserved MOTM

I would've saved Bailey for Lille. Even if Moussa has been appauling.
30 mins for Bailey ain't gonna affect Thursday.

Our possession much better as Arsenal have sat back more. Need to take our chances if they come.

Diaby a bit frustrating so far.

Tom Daley award.

Well that was decent, looking solid at the back and not too bad in other areas

What we really need against Lille is an early goal then we can try and dictate the pace of the game maybe get some early subs on. Its going to be a tough one for sure. Apparently French teams were given the weekend off to rest up!!
