For all Taylor's faults he's defensively solid.
This is true. He gets a bad rap, but there's nothing wrong with having a guy around who's mostly reliable and just does the basics well. I'm glad he's around, even if I'd never start him.

Same amount Smith got, and Villa still are fighting against relegation.
They've had the opportunity to use that money to buy world class talent. We've had to use it to build practically a whole team. Different gravy.

Curious what you mean here. As I see it he’s very clearly looking to build a team with a defined but mobile striker, two goalscoring forwards playing on their ‘inverted’ foot and focused on getting goals, with the width coming from full backs, and between those lines of attack a hardworking midfield of technically good and creative players.
Whether he’s getting it right we will see but I think that’s definitely the intention.
To add to this, everyone signed so far excluding Martinez is versatile and adept at multiple positions. They're fast so they'd be able to counter attack well, they can swap places with each other so Smith could change formations during matches, etc.
I think he's been very clever so far.

Oh I don't know, some guy.

We're up against Enda Stevens tomorrow. I'd have him back if given the chance.

Whatever you do, do not click on the VT Rashica thread.
To be fair, that thread is barely even about Rashica.

I've listened to it back for the first time proper and whilst I liked the content still, I know what people mean about delivery. That's not how we speak to each other normally and I think that was just us being aware of recording it. I think that will come with time. However, I am quite happy with the content as I always planned this to be a place where knowledgable fans could argue their point! Anyways its now on apple if that suits your listening habits!

I found the podcast very informative. In terms of your delivery, I reckon it'll get more natural as you do more recordings. Everybody has to start somewhere, after all. Keep up the good work.

If you announce in a public forum that you're going to ignore somebody, then yes, they can tell.

come on.
Ur fave is clearly Lansbury.
But thats only cus McCormack left, he was Villa thru and thru.
You joke about Lansbury, but by all accounts he's will liked in the dressing room. He sounds like a real good guy.

1. Tyrone Mings - he looks like he's got one hell of a right hook on him.
2. Ngolo Kanye - he'd snap a few ankles.
3. Bruno Fernandes - everyone would just gang up on the cheating git.
4. Bruno Fernandes & Patrick Bamford - Pat would rat him out instantly in return for being left alone. Then he'd get done second.

never thought i would ever watch an american watch football.....but.....always a first it seems.
I noticed how quickly he picked up on the fact he gets tackled harder than normal. This is just about all he's seen of Grealish, and even he realised that already.

Imagine after all this he signs and is garbage. It will be so painful
No chance. We're talking about the guy Messi has a poster of in his bedroom.

They've out-performed their xG quite substantially in both games.
They'll be playing a very dangerous game if thats their plan.
This is how you burn out over the course of a session, especially a more crowded one.

I'm just guessing here, but maybe it’s because they've watched him play football?
I call bs on good stats as well.
But we'll see. Best of luck to him. At least he has a bit of pace or turn of pace even, and directness about him. Deffo needed.
A goal contribution every 2.5 games, when a lot of them were off the bench, isn't a bad return. Say what you want about his last season, it was clear he was out of favour already by then.
It could go either way, but he gets the benefit of the doubt for a couple of months at least as far as I'm concerned.

Seen a lot about him both anecdotally and stats wise but this isn’t bad at all
That's a goal contribution every 2.5 games. Considering he hasn't started all of them, that's actually pretty impressive.

El Ghazi 4 goals 4 assist 19/20 season playing for a bottom 5 club.
Bertrand Traore 1 goal and 3 assist 19/20 season playing for a top half team.
Yeah, but El Ghazi played 2062 minutes last season, while Traore played only 1254. Allegedly, a fair amount of those were at RWB, and he was kept out of the team by the likes of Memphis Depay.
I can see why you're skeptical, but bear in mind these things are never black and white. Once he settles into the squad, he might be a lot better for us.

This aged well.
The club must've seen that post and said "we'll see about that!"
I'm glad he's here. He'll offer our attack a new dimension.

Wasn't the original signing of Adama Traore considered a statement of intent because he came from Barcelona's academy? I remember all the talk about that transfer.

Jack said in his interview it was 50/50 until a few days ago. There’s no smoke without fire, that’s twice we’ve been incredibly close to losing him (first was Spurs) only for us to get a bit lucky and him stay, it’s almost like fate.
I get the impression he's in two minds, but he'll accept any excuse to not leave us. I genuinely believe he'll take any reason he can to stay at the club he loves.

It's a shame it never worked out for him here. He never seemed like he didn't care, he just didn't fit our system.

Fantastic, great to see him score. I hope it's the first of many.

He might not be the best defender going, but he's a vital part of the squad and I don't think we'd be anywhere near as good without him and his upstanding character. Chuffed to bits about him sticking around.
