Really feel we need a left footed right winger for balance. Brooks would be great if available.

There is a danish player, Robert Skov that plays for Hoffenheim (used to play for FC Copenhagen, Lange link..). Plays RW with a wicked left foot, dont know if hes ready for PL yet though.

I've seen quite a bit of Brentford this season and Watkins is much better than Hogan and a completely different type player really, has easilly been the best striker in the championship, better than Mitrovic.

The problem with signing him for the £20m plus that it would take, is that if we spend that much on him we aren't then going to spend another £30m or so on someone like Edouard, Abraham, Iheanacho and so on, if he signs he will be our main striker signing, so it becomes a question as to whether we'd be better of paying around £20m for him hoping he can make the step up, or paying more for someone more proven at an higher level.

Even if we sign Watkins I still think we'll sign a striker. Watkins can also play out wide and Wesley may be a long time from being match fit. Watkins cover 2 positions, a smart signing.

  3. Ok, here is my take on the transfer window.

I wouldnt let any player other than Lansbury, Taylor and a couple of keepers leave. Still think we need to keep as much of the squad together as I think alot of them have the ability to grow as they have a PL season under their belts.

I would like to sign 5, maybe 6 players. I also wouldnt be against using the loan market, for example an experienced keeper until Heaton is fit and thereafter compete with him or a winger from the "bigger" clubs (eg. Hudson-Odoi) if we couldnt land our targets. The position of the 6 players: Striker, LW, RW/striker, CM, LB and GK.

    My suggestions:

GK: An experienced goalkeeper on loan, should be an older head. There must be decent keepers out there not really getting game time at some big european clubs.

LB: Ludwig Agustinsson, Werder Bremen, 26 yo. Swedish international, sweet left foot, great pro, Lange connections, should enter his prime. Availiable for 7m £

CM: Weston Mckennie, Schalke 04, all action central midfielder. 25m£

LW: Eberechi Eze, QPR. Rumours they´ll want 16m £. Could also play central behind the striker.

RW/Striker: Ollie Watkins, Brentford. Rumours of a 18 m£ release clause. Works hard, really good at pressing, can score goals, can play out wide as well as a striker.

Striker: Odsonne Edouard, Celtic. Would 35m £ be enough? Scores alot of goals, is young and has the potential to be even better in the future.

That would land at approx 101 m£

Really decent players as I see it, only problem is they experienced enough? Can they cut it in the PL? After all, when everyone fit we have a decent spine of the team, Heaton-Mings-McGinn-Grealish.

Oh, and by the way, my transfer targets change everyday...

Gentle reminder of what Benrahma is about. He was quiet last night but does have quality. For the right price definitely worth getting in.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him moving on pretty quickly now.

No thanks, he has shit hair... 😂

Hopefully we are looking at a potential deal for Watkins as he can play as a striker or wide forward. He works extremely hard and scores goals.

We'd need to sign another striker, and possibly a winger as well, but I think he'd improve us quite a bit.

Wonder if we could sign Watkins, one of Abraham or Edouard and one of Benrahma or Buendia. That would make a huge difference to this team.

    This! 👍

  6. Wouldnt be surprised to see us linked with Ludwig Agustinsson (Werder Bremen). Swedish LB, had som injury problems last season but is a really fine player. Played (and scored) for Sweden in 2018 WC, is a regular in the Swedish national side when fit. Before Bremen he played at FC Copenhagen and it was probably Lange that bought him and sold him on.

Agustinsson is a model pro, always has choseni clubs so far to be prepared for one of the big leagues and big clubs and maybe its time for him to step up to the Premier League. As player he has a sweet left foot, great delivery and set pieces. Hes very offensive in his style of play but also a good defender. At 26 yo he should be entering his prime. Perfect upgrade on Taylor and competition for Targett.

German media suggests hes gettable for 7 million euros. Bargain and a no brainer IMO.

  7. As I see it, we'll need atleast 5 signings (maybe 6). Thats if noone of our better players leave.

Goalkeeper, Heaton is out for a long time I guess. Maybe a loan?

Central midfielder, I want a box to box midfielder.

    2 wingers (with pace).

    1 striker

Maybe a lb if the finances allow it.

The CB's are fine, I could live with our RB's, would like an upgrade on Taylor. A good b2b midfielder is needed to challenge and rotate with Mcginn and Hourihane. I like Wesley and think he will come good if the injury is ok but a new better striker is a must. AEG and Trez, well they need to be on the bench.

3rd time lucky with strikers from Jupiler league in Jonathan David ?

Would probably cost mega bucks. But will become a good player.

Another shout is Sead Haksabanovic from IFK Norrköping in the Swedish league, was bought by West Ham as a teenager but couldnt quite make it there, went home started again and ripped our league to bits. Winger/wide forward. Will make it big.

So what’s the difference between this thread and the Premier League thread?

edit: just read the first post. I think the thread should be renamed to players to keep after relegation or something like that.

Well, thats how I named the thread when I started it. I guess one of the mods renamed it?

  10.                               Heaton

    Guilbert ,Konsa, Tuanzebe, Mings, Targett

                      Kalvin Phillips, McGinn

    Benrahma/Jeremie Boga                  Grealish

                           Samatta/Wesley

    Subs: The rest

Could probably do a bit of an upgrade on Elmo and Taylor of course.

  11. Sorry for the negative title in this thread, but which players would/could stay?

If we go down, Jack will leave. Probably Mings. Maybe Luiz. Maybe Mcginn, I guess that'll depends on how he is after the injury.

I think Samatta, Nakamba, Guilbert, Konsa etc will stay if theres no relegationclause in their contracts.

Wesley and Heaton probably wont be fit when the season starts so they will stay.

    Discuss!

  12. Some mumblings in Swedish media that Union Berlin striker Sebastian Andersson could be on his way to Premier League. Has only six months left on his contract. Seems to be doing a really good season in Bundesliga scoring 8 in 17 and was prolific for Union in zweite Bundesliga last season. Is part of the Sweden squad aswell but doesnt play very often. I havent seen much of him so cant judge if he´ll be able to play i PL.

I can stress he is not linked to Villa at all in the media though. Just highlighting a player that may be on the move.
