I still can't get over his insistence on playing with such an inept 'system'. On Saturday everyone could see huge gaps all across the field. Palace players moving through us and creating chances with ease. Our fullbacks were exposed, CBs exposed, midfield was dragged all over the place. I kept thinking he'll do something about that soon surely. He did nothing, no tactical adjustments, that alone means he should be sacked. So frustrating for us but opposition mangers must be loving it when they see how he's setting us up. It's nuts. Gerrard needs a big dose of pragmatism or he's gone.

I rate Buendia, that doesn't change the fact that he needs to improve his goals and assists ratio, not sure how anyone can possibly disagree with that, if we have someone taking a place in our front three we need them to be scoring more than five goals over two Premier league seasons.
I also rated both Veretout and Gana, Gana especially, as I think most Villa fans did, so not sure what they have to do with anything.
I agree in terms of goals, but he did get 6 assists, so falls joint 7th in the league for assists... Along with that, he created some real clearcut chances, I can think of at least 4 instances where Ings (x2) , Watkins and Chuk were all in on goal and should all score. So, theres no issues with him creating the opportunities, just players finishing them.

Yeah but there's no way he could score the goal the English woman scored tonight
Agreed, too much time to think about it.

He frustrates me a lot, but considering how poor he can be he's provided a decent return overall really. Although it probably should be much higher considering some of the easy chances he misses. I've not given up on him completely just yet.

Great player to bring off the bench.
Agreed. He is a great player.

I think he's already a better option than Marv. He looks physically up to the job and I'd like to see him remain with the squad.

Trying to be relevant, but excluding him (most expensive player sold from the PL) and Juninho (brazilian footballer of the year) are such glaring omissions that it proves what a farce they are.
Edit: juninho didn't win pots, he came second behind zola
He won it in 96/97, the year Boro got relegated.

Any particular reason we are adopting the SHA color scheme?

no Benni McCarthy link yet?
Legend has it that he's currently at the Belfry waiting to sign for us.

I saw this yesterday before the city game (I couldn't spilt the bottom tweat away). His game is more rounded than Phil's but he excels in areas like key passes/xA where you'd expect Coutinho to be leading the stats. So if Coutinho is good enough based on his performances for us, then Buendia is more than good enough.

He’s a good player and should be starting for us for sure, but I don’t think he’s as good as some make out on here.
Why don't you think he is?

I've been pretty frustrated with him over the last couple of months but he's done pretty well considering. Going forward I hope hes more flexible with his system and primarily find a way to accommodate both Buendia and Coutinho in the starting XI.

Ran the show when he came on. Gerrard needs to start him, it’s doing my head in watching for only 15mins every week.

Agree with this but we also shouldn't go overboard as this is a game that we should very much have won tbf.
On paper we should be beating teams like Burnley but in reality we've beaten them away once in 26 games. It's a decent result for us today especially with that taken into consideration.
-
I don't care how we win today, im happy with ugly its nuts that we've only won one of out last 26 games at Turf Moor.

What's happened to Ezri Konsa?!
He's turned into Jose Angel Crespo.
His confidence is shot, he had a few poor games and made mistakes leading to goals and that seems to have its wrecked him.

I didn't watch the match but saw the comments about it being a lucky, deflected goal on here post match. Finally caught the highlights just, it was decent goal, irrespective of his general performance and the deflection. It was the kind of goal he was lauded for last season.

Konsa, el Ghazi (output wise. Top notch), Targett, Luiz... I think these signings and the improvements in them as players are pretty darn good. That's almost a full starting 11 of good signings.
We're utter shite at selling people though, el Ghazi being the most obvious one, absolutely at top of his tree last summer - easily £20M, and we've sent him on loan somewhere where he's not playing under an incompetent manager.
I'm not sure any team is shite a selling. It's hardly like Villa can force other teams to buy our fringe players for our valuation or force a player under contract to move on even if they have no future at the club.
