everyone does except maybe the biggest 5 clubs in the world.
Also you want players that even if they don't become great players for us, we can sell them on for a reasonable fee without taking a huge loss.
Well, if these owners stay with us for a few years we'll be the ones signing top, top players, we wont be a 'selling club' as much as we have been in the past!
These owners will be aiming for the top and wont rest until we get there! For me, its just a matter of how long they stay at the club!

Maybe Keeper being the exception? Makes sense as it’s a vital position.
Agreed. Good keeper is essential! Butland is currently a championship player. Would be a great purchase imo

I reckon JT knows that our owners have big plans and ambitions for us! I think he will enjoy the journey that we are on! I've no doubt that he would have had several offers over the summer to go elsewhere!
Also love that he declined the offer of an interview at the boggies!

It's insane.
If a goalkeeper is 5 foot 11 but is playing in the premier league it's because that couple of inches doesn't matter. They've made themselves into a great keeper despite that.
If our club was looking at goalkeepers based on height, as opposed to the myriad of other things that make a goalkeeper good, then I'd be livid.
Agreed....Kalanic is how tall? You need more than one good attribute to make a good keeper!

Going to get Wadlow on the back of my goalie kit next season.
”Aston Villa are poised to table an offer for the worlds tallest man...”
Is Alan Wright coming back then?

Me too. I can feel it in my testicles. I think there will be 2 or 3 in the next couple of weeks at least. Fingers crossed.
Well, there certainly needs to be!

Not as many as Blackburn, they've got 4,000! (one for the older members)
Although the holes were rather small
I had to count them all
Now I know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall

If you think we're paying £23m for Butland you must be living in Nether Nether land

You say that but he has 155 appearances in the top flight.
Elmo is fine for this season as back up imo. Probably look for next season. I don't see any reason for another RB just yet (unless SB is returning)

How strong is the Butland rumour? That looks like a decent Premier League defence to me. Remains to be seen how good Guilbert is for us, but judging by his performances last season he's a good player. Also Elmo is backup in there.
Soz, yes I forgot about Elmo...good backup option

Butland
Guilbert....Mings.....Axel/Tomori....Targett/Bertrand
Happy days
Hause/Chester/Taylor as back up

Then Bertrand will have to go. Who we should also have interest in.
Yes, Bertrand is pretty solid and useful going forward. I'd be more than happy with either!

Would have no complaints at all, but would rather see this:
Justin..............Konsa................Mings...............Targett
Agreed...any of those back 4 would be solid with Hause/Chester and another RB as back up! I think that would see us strong defensively
-
Would love to kick off the new season with this back 4
Guilbert.....Mings.....Axel/Tomori.....Targett

I'd imagine he will cost £15-20m. At today's prices that's probably about right.
He fits the mould of how we want to play assuming his attitude is on point too.
Yes, £15-20m sounds about right to me. I think he is an exceptional talent!

Targett would be a cracking signing to be fair. He's a better player than Bertrand in my opinion and 6 years younger, will be surprised to see him go of the two.
Yes, Targett over Bertrand 100%

I think we will spend more than £100m, possibly up to £140m because we need to and our owners and FFP means we can afford to. We have to address 4 years of poor squad management and can’t afford to miss the opportunity of staying up, as we have found out, the cost of beinf]g away from the big table costs the club a fortune.
Spending £100m doesn’t mean we have to mirror Fulham, they ripped the heart out of their first team, sacked their manager too soon and altered the playing style. Fundamentally their defence was poor, that’s the lesson here.
Agree with you on Tammy, whether we’ve already bought our forwards by then remains to be seen. Would love to buy Tammy, he’s one for the future.
Agree with this. We wont be doing a Fulham type spending spree. They failed in their attempt to build a squad without any planning imo! We now have a far better set up than in previous transfer windows....building a team for the present and the future! I now trust the people in charge to get this right!

There''s no way that we are spending £20 mil plus on Butland. Etheridge is better value at £10 mil imo

Must say that I've never heard of him! But then again I'd never heard of Benteke!
