  1. On a more serious note, I think the time to protest (if there is such a time) is not before the Man City game because it is a game that, dare I say it, we are expected to lose.

I would personally wait to see what transpires over the next bank of four league games after the Man City game as they are all against teams either slightly superior or slightly inferior to us in the league on points as it stands today.

If we don't get at least 6 points from 12 during this period then perhaps it is time for some form of action as the fixtures after Bolton at home look rather daunting given our current form.

    Agree.

Depsite my criticisms of McLeish a protest tomorrow is completely wrong time .

  2. McLeish who has the same points tally that MON managed at this point of the season with Villa in his first year?

But unlike MON is not afraid to give the youngsters a chance AND didn't have the problem of losing his two best attacking players, and most certainly doesn't have a massive cheque book to spend. IIRC in this past corresponding window he'd bought Ashley Young & swapped Baros for Carew.

Sorry this McLeish hatred is more about his past than anything else from what I can see of it, no matter what anyone says.

    What utter rubbish.

I am tired of seeing this utter tripe by some.

MON took over a Villa side that finished 16th. He had no preseason.

McLeish took over a side that finished 9th (which was still a big underachievemnt)with much better squad .Had a preseason , whole summer to buy his own players - including £10 million on N'Zogbia - not too shabby compared to some other sides resources.

To try and compare MON first season with this season with this diabolical manager who has a pathetic previous record in this league is utterly stupid.

    Why not compare THIS season?

MON at Sunderland in 11 games has won 7.

McLeish at better Villa squad has won 6 in 24 games.

    3 home games all season.

    Shambles.

McLeish has a win % of less than 25% in his whole PRemier league career - a truly miserable stat.

So yes his previous rubbish record at Birmingham IS VERY RELEVANT as his record with us is a mirror image.

    Wake up.

  3. Lads what are the protests about exactly ??

Would you be happier with Mark Hughes who's team did so well at Blackburn today ?

Or MON who's team threw away a home lead against a mediocre arsenal ?

    Are you being serious?

That was the FIRST game MON has lost at home with Sunderland.

He has won more games in 11 games than McLeish has managed all season.

In case you have not noticed we have not won a home game in FOUR months!

I'm not in favour of the protests (wrong time) but what on earth are you on about?

That somehow McLeish is not shit because MON and Mark Hughes lost a game today??

    :?

    Very bizarre post.

  4. Dont underestimate Wigan, Wolves, Blackburn, QPR and the like. All of them have the stomach for a fight and have shown an ability to battlet their way away from the drop.

McLeish on the other hand has not, his teams dropped like a stone without a whiff of fight.

We are 7 points ahead of those sides tho.

Well aware of McLeish's loving of relegation but a squad with Given , Gabby , Bent wont be relegated this season.

Not even McDiabolical could manage that.

If he ever did manage to he would go down in history as the shittest manager in world history ever. There would have to be some form of state ceremony to honour such a ridiculous shite acheievement.

It won't happen just to be in the dunces half this season is on its own a disgrace.

I agree, but what if we get hit with a bad injury crisis?

That is purely hypothetical at moment.

You don't a need a hypotetical injury crisis or a hypothetical relegation to know that McLeish is a shit manager.

For us to be 14th in february is unacceptable , winning 6 games in 24 Prem games , not winning a home game in 4 months is more than enough to criticse this very crap manager.

To stay up this season we will only need probably 35 points or something.

Which even McRubbish should manage but to be doing as badly as we have done is enough to criticse McLeish for without imagining a very very unlikely relegation this season.

  6. Agree with pacbuddies - it will be 3 from those 5 and no one else.

We will only need 35 points or something to stay up this season.

There is no chance of relegation this season IMO even under this relegation loving clown of a manager.

  7. Im against tomorrows protest but Woodytom you are talking absolute shite in playing devils advocate to the utter joke of a decision it was by Lerner or whoever on our board who appointed McLeish.

McLeish's record is utterly embarrasingly awful with us and his previous 'Premiership experience' is diabolical.

Anyone who knows anything about football actually has pity on us having such a bad manager.

  8. if we fail to beat city tomorrow we wont have won at home since the 5th november! 4 losses and 2 draws. 5 scored and 10 conceded.

just to show how poor mcleish has us playing, and how conditioned people seem to be to it, a lot of people seemed happy with the 2-2 draw against QPR because we came back from 2 down and played well for 60 minutes. but that was a QPR team who had taken just 1 point from their previous 15 available away, and have since gone on to lose at home to Wolves and away to Blackburn. it really isnt good enough

His record is utterly diabolical and truly embarrasing.

McLeish is breaking all types of record this season.

Failure to win tomorrow will be the longest we have EVER gone without a winning a game in the topflight at home.

Diabolical manager who has exceptionally miserable record in the topflight .

  9. The strange thing is, you speak to fans of other clubs and they ALL say "why the hell did they appoint McLeish, bizarre appointment"

It's not like the footballing world need telling again about this by our own fans

Yep ANYONE who vaguely knows ANYTHING about football knew what an utter bad joke and stupid appointment the McLeish appointment was.

  10. Don't do it people, it's not the time for this. If we play crap and do not pick up points against Wigan/Blackburn/Fulham/Bolton then break AMC's freaking door down at BMH and protest there. Doing it before a game against an inform Man City is not the way to do it. Get behind the lads. Saying doing it before the game wont effect the players but it will, players will still see and know what's going on and will cause them to have it on their mind during the game breaking an already fragile confidence. I hate what AVFC have become of late but this is not all down to AMC. I don't think he is the right manager for the job but protesting now is stupid IMO. Wait and see how the next few games pan out, then protest as we will have valid grounds to and will carry more clout.

    Agreed.

I do not rate McLeish and would prefer him not here and there may well be a time in future to protest about it but agree the timing of this protest is wrong and not needed.

but it's always waiting isn't, no time is good. First it was give him the first 7 games, then let's see by Christmas, then end of Jan, now following those games you mention, some people say end of end season, some even say end of next season when he's had a full season.

I have seen nothing in the time he has been here to warrant any more time. The fact is he isn't good enough......one or two good results or great performances will happen because laws of nature means it has to, but then we'll have some diabolical performances and most will be less than average at best. My opinion is not based on one game, it's over his duration and he simply isn't good enough over the average of the season......he has to go. No time is good so why not now? Let's think of the long term now, and get somebody else in

Look i don't rate McLeish and his record this season so far has been truly terrible and we should not be in the dunces half of league and agree theres little to suggest his crap winning 1 in every 4 or so games Premier league record will change but a protest before a game against Man City IS the wrong time for a protest.

You say theres never a right time to protest but there is IMO a wrong time to - which this weekends game would be .

  12. Congratulations to the numpties - they've not only managed to make us a laughing stock (I still cringe when I think of the VP demonstrations when AMc was approinted) but now also managed to distract our manager before an important game. True Villa fans?

When you said numpties and laughing stock i thought you were refering to our board for a second....

Anyhow as for this proposed protest - I think a protest before the Man City game is a bad idea - its not the right time or right game for protests .

The protests against McLeish's appoitment however there was nothing wrong in that at all!

  13. I wish people would stop comparing the beginning of MON's tenure to that of McLeish's. MON inherited a FAR worse team and although they might have amassed a similar number of points over a similar amount of time, his team rarely, if ever, produced the kind of gutless, insipid performances that have been the staple of McLeish's reign thus far.

There was hope under MON, there is none under McLeish.

Indeed it is a ridiculous argument and for so many reasons.

A decent manager would not have this squad (despite its faults) in the dunces half of the league.

As for the protests - i generally feel that the Man City game is the wrong game and wrong time to protest against the club .

There is plenty to be pissed off about and feel a protest might be needed eventually but i don't think this is the time.

  14. I think Zatman might be right that the old Lampard and Stevie G together problem might make a comeback under Redknapp.

Redknapp is best bloke for the short term if still wants it.

As for MON well obviously that will never happen now but think he would been pretty good at international level despite not being a tactical genius.

Rmber McLaren didn't even qualify for Euro 2008.

Success with England is qualfying and getting to a quater final . Something which Sven kept doing in fairness even tho didnt like him much.

Talk of winning any tournament with England whatever the manager is often just dumb.

  15. Id be interested in how many of those 90 Prem league game has won .

Considering he has only won 6 in 24 of those games with us

and only won 8 last season in 38 games .

So that is 12 wins in 62 of those games...

Id imagine the win % is embarrasingly low wouldn't you?

He won one league cup - well the manager so despised by some on here MON won 2 of those.

He has had a summer window to sign players unlike Houllier last season - in which he managed to sign the brilliant player Hutton.

The idea a failed Premiership manager like McLeish can build anything is frankly wishful thinking verging on demented.
