want see David Turnbull at Villa from Motherwell! top, Top talent in my view....  he can easily do a McGinn down here i've seen enough to suggest he would be a great pickup his potential is huge.

James Tavernier i do not rate and wouldn't want see him anywhere near Villa.  No thank to that suggestion.

Turnbull seems the real deal, whether he's ready for the Premier League however I have no idea. If we were in the Championship, I would have no doubts about signing him.

Any particular reason why you don't rate Tavernier? I would even suggest Morelos would be a great fit for our striker in the Premier League, what you reckon to that? He can finish with either foot, heading not too shabby, movement is good, can assist, hold up play is solid for someone so young.

Tavernier is a good shout as is Kent from Rangers (for the right price), thing is with scottish football it's hard to assess the quality of the player due to the standard of football, though we certainly struck gold with McGinniesta ;)

Whilst you're right with Phillips, I think having someone in our side that is a bit on the edge would add some steal to our team and help us to mix it up when we need to.

I am a Rangers fan, I personally think the Scottish league is a lot better than people give it credit for. There's many players who came via that route that are/were playing to a high level in the Premier League/Championship. McGinn is just another recent example of this. Tavernier is one of the most consistent players I've seen, he could cut it in the Premier League no problem. Kent, whilst he's had a sort of breakthrough year at Rangers, his previous loans haven't gone great. So it's a definite risk buying him, especially with the £10M price tag imo.

  3. What about Tavernier at Rangers as another RB option. Pacy, Good engine, okay defensively, crossing and delivery on point. Freekicks and Penalties as well. Could maybe get him for £7-8M, as Guilbert is an unknown, Elmo is getting on a bit and Bree just doesn't seem up to it. Could De Leat be a left field choice?

I agree with people saying Bowen, really impressed me the past couple seasons. Phillips at Leeds, whilst well thought of and most Leeds fans would say is their best player, he's always one tackle away from a red card imo.

Going to be an interesting few months ahead.

A top class right winger I think is achievable, we got El Ghazi as a Championship club and he was one of the most promising wingers in the world a few years back. But I actually like the look of Wilson and reckon he can become an absolute superstar so would go for him and match the £25mil Liverpool are asking for him.

I don't care how good Wilson may be, I would not be paying £25M for him, ever! There's so much better value than him around.

  5. I'm under no illusion how difficult next season will be, the Premier League has changed since we've been away. Fulham spent over £100 million and came straight back down.

We definitely have a chance with the football we play but the recruitment will be key. Mings is a must sign for me. Chester can hopefully play some part but we might need another 2 CB's in to cover.  Probably need another LB as well.

Obviously with Tammy gone and no idea if he's coming back a new striker is badly needed. Kodjia will be ok in this division but we need guaranteed goals and you need to pay for that. Would anyone take Mitrovic from Fulham?

I'm excited to see who we target, as that will show what kind of player we are looking at and market we are shopping in.

  6. If the £60M release clause is accurate, I'm surprised he agreed to that high a figure. Not that I don't rate him but no one will pay that willingly imo. I think he'll go for around the £20-25M mark if we don't get promoted. That's just my opinion.

Of course, lets just smash the playoffs and let him shine for us on the big stage next season.

Hastie of Motherwell has agreed to join Rangers this summer.  Shame, was hoping we'd be interested.   Would like a couple more McGinn bargains from north of the border.

Turnball, also at Motherwell is apparently the best youth product at the club currently and has posted some impressive stats in his first full season. Scored 12 goals I think and a few assists. By all accounts he will be the next big Scottish talent.

  8. If we want any chance at automatic promotion this season, this is a must win game imo. I live in Leeds, so there's a lot at stake for me (Father-In-Law is a massive Leeds man, work colleagues (just glad it's over the festive period so won't see them until a few days later).

There will be goals, I just hope we score more than them.

  9. Gutted it's my works Christmas night out on Friday at the Hilton, will be following on my Sky Go app. The way we have took apart Derby & Middlesbrough gives me confidence we can win this as well.

It's a strange feeling to be looking forward to games again.

  10. Teams managed by Bielsa have a reputation of dropping off in the 2nd half of the season, it's happened everywhere he goes. He works the players too hard on/off the pitch and with the fact he likes to run a small squad, it's inevitable there will be a lull for Leeds at some point imo.

  11. A mixture of youth with some 1st team players would be good tonight, RHM & Green starting, hopefully we play Kodjia and he can get on the score sheet for a confidence boost.

Wouldn't mind seeing McGinn get some more minutes either.

  12. Hi, Villa fan wishing to join this site, was a member over at avfcforums for years but it was dead and closed down now I believe? Saw a few of them talking about this site previously and how they were moving over.

I'm Scottish and have been supporting Villa since the John Gregory era.

    Cheers,
