We normally do well at home against team that comes to play & attack us ( Citeh/Arsenal etc) & struggle against ultra liw block that parked the bus..

This young Chelsea team will want to prove a point after mid week result & have a go…I am quietly confident we will get a result

I'm MASSIVELY confident (←see all caps for how confident). Chelsea are a shambles.

Paul off Facebook has a mate who runs the dog and doublet and he reckons Mary's (the barmaid) boyfriend,  the bricklayer, has seen plans for a new stadium at the side of BMH. With transport links into Kingsbury and Coleshill!

Europa League is actually pretty amazing, too -- and we're basically in. Are we going to stop and celebrate that fact? No time for resting yet? Isn't it pretty incredible that we've picked up Europa league almost as an afterthought? Are we ever going to stop and say wow? Maybe I have a lot of the old Villa in me, but I'm still just pinching myself that we're even back in Europe. I don't want to get too carried away, but I love thinking that some newer, younger Villa fans may be a generation who start to think of Villa the way my father did in the glory days. So again ...

    EUROPA LEAGUE 2024/2025!!!!!

Is there an argument to be made for embracing our certain Europa League qualification for 2024-2025 over a hard-won, but potentially taxing Champions League spot we may be less "ready" for?

Top post. We quickly get used to things previously unimaginable. However, as things have panned out, it would be quietly devastating in the same way Leicester couldn't ever quite get over the line despite massively positive seasons overall, to qualify for the Champions League under Rodgers. Right now, it would be snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Such a blow could reverberate for years.

My personal feeling is that we qualify, and a new era is being heroically written in front of our astonished eyes.

Incidentally, just before the final penalty, my Europa Conference League app sent me a notification that Emi had a red card. Did anyone else get this?

Yes! I was watching the BBC match thread at work as if we were in the 1950's or something, and they continued to misprint the score throughout before an an all caps MARTINEZ RED CARD. Chaos.

And the BBC site says Lille win 3 - 4 on penalties............

Jesus. Was at work and could onl;y follow watching BBC thread, which KEPT getting the score wrong every other post. 1-1 kept coming up for example throughout, when it wasn't 1-1 at any point over the 90.

    LOVE THIS CLUB.

We need them back on form in time for Spurs

Don't think we'll need to worry about this game, it looks as though pride is all they have left to play for.

Hope he wins fans' player of the season or something, he needs to be recognized for this superb season he's had, especially under the circumstances of seemingly being unfancied after being a huge signing under the previous chancer of a manager (similar to Coutinho), and then being completely upstaged by Alex Moreno last season. He's turned all of that on its head.

Absolute model professional. Amazing to say any such thing, but in a time of the average football-playing millionaire coasting along as standard, Lucas Digne has gracefully and often brilliantly earned every penny by comparison to his fellow professionals.

This game just shows how frustrating that late Lille goal was. Dortmund scored late in the first leg and they’ve managed to turn this around quite quickly.

Doesn't show anything, apart from, this is how football is.

  9. Love it love it love it love it love it...... So, er, I'm happy to point out that I was in the OVERWHELMING MINORITY today in the pre-match thread to back us, and I quote, to give a properly good account of ourselves, and for Zaniolo to step up and impress in particular.

Such a great performance. Now off to watch MOTD.
