  1. Could someone explain the FFP thing and how you are now fine please?

I understand the takeover etc, but an owner is only meant to invest so much, besides as we both know throwing cash at a problem doesnt alwayd work put for the best.

Now i read your after Joe Bryan.

Derby were meant to be in trouble, they are signing players left right and centre.

Birmingham are meant to be in trouble.

I really dont understand FFP, just thought you guys may know more because of your recent issues.

We don't know yet, but it seems like we were saved just in time from the absolute brink.

    Absolutely furious i was ?

Not because you were saved, but the manner, the people.

How lucky can you be (presumably).

A bit frustrating, given that we have a big pot of cash and we aren't allowed to spend it.

    Oh we have had those.

Somewhere at Elland Road there is tens of millions of pounds all in pots dating back years

Nobody ever seems able to find them ?

Absolutely, this is one of the main reasons we managed to sign Neves a year ago, he's a big Porto fan but he knew Porto needed the money.

    Exactly.

Porto needed money so he left when he probably didnt want to, but those above him probably were practically shoving him out the door.

Sentiments nice, having an ideal price is nice, but if you got deadlines to meet and bills to pay you take what you can get.

Leeds fan, know that well enough ?

He can't just decide to leave, the club have to accept a bid first. There's no doubt in my mind they will be able to get a bid of around £30m (including add-ons) for him and whoever gets him is getting a bargain.

No i understand that but if the club or the administrators accept a bid, it may not be the bid Jack wants or even Villa want, but it might be whats needed, thats all i meant.

  6. If your financial situation is a bleak as reported, as a Villa fan, maybe he will leave for the good of the club?

He is gonna know more then any of us how bad it is, if its really bad as a fan he may see it as helping the club in its hour of need?

Leeds were trying to sell Alan Smith to the highest bidder, maybe the same things going on with Grealish?

Most of this could easily be said about Steve Bruce. Came in, improved our league position, made us some money and (potentially) quitting after a 4th placed finish and having to sell all of his better players...

    Yeah i suppose so.

Suppose difference is Bruce spent a fortune first before potentially losing players.

its alright though, we are getting Fernando Torres ?

60% win record at Argentina but failed to get out the group stages of the world cup which including losing to England. Won the Olympics but I don't think anyone cares about that as a tournament so not as remotely impressive as it sounds.

With Chile lost to Spain beat Switzerland and Honduras to get out their group but then lost against Brazil 3-0 in round 16, again hardly impressive.

Finished fourth with Marseille, nothing special. Walked out on them after losing his opening game the next season though.

Not sure why you have a big obsession with him but he's walked out on a few clubs when things haven't gone his way, the last thing we would need is a manager who has the potential to just get up and leave when things don't go his way.

Also if he was as good as you and pep guadiola keep making out he'd be in a job and not be going for job interviews with clubs like Leeds utd.

He has turned down quite a few jobs tbf to him.

Think the reason he doesnt get the big jobs is very simply his personality, his unpredictability, big clubs dont like that.

And yet he is still in the Spanish press right now considered a contender for the Madrid job.

and Lazio? ;) He also failed to get one of the most talented international squads in history out of teh group phase in the World Cup

Ocampos came from Monaco not middle of nowhere and looked like he couldnt hack Ligue 1 until last season

Bielsa will do well in the right environment but Villa certainly is not a place for that and Leeds probably isnt either

Lazio promised to sign players and didnt, so he walked, i quite like that lol.

Ocampos was a key player for Monaco when they finished second, lost his place to Bernardo Silva, no disgrace lol.

2004 Copa America runners up which was there best since 1993 and an Olympic gold medal, not to shabby,  there first ever, only won 1 other since.

Chile, first time ever they didnt lose in Uruguay, first win ever over Argentina in a competitive match, first win in Peru since 1985, first win in Paraguay in nearly 30 years, first ever away win against Columbia, lead Chile to the World Cup after not qualifying for the last 2, knocked out in the knockout stages by Brazil, they have only got further then that once in the 60s and only ever got that far before once in 1998. He is a god like figure in CHile.

Bilbao, got them through to the final of the Europa League, losing to Atletico Madrid, not to bad considering thats like you getting through with players only from the West Midlands, the performance vs Manchester United was awesome and to this day Manchester UNited fans have great respect for Bielsa (popular choice to replace Moyes), lost the Copa Del Rey to Peps Barcelona, no disgrace there either. Lost Javi Martinez to Bayern, given how important he was and the difficulty replacing such a special player from the pool he was allowed its no surprise that they struggled.

Turned down West Ham, Swansea, River PLate, Inter Milan, Fenerbahce, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Lionel Messi wanted him to replace Pep. oh and reportedly turned down Real Madrid in 2004, good enough for me?

And after all that, i agree with you, i wouldnt appoint Bielsa myself, to many risks, but as an alternative to Paul Heckingbottom if its Bielsa or one of the usual suspects, McCarthy, Pardew etc, id rather take a risk.

He is no fool, give him the right players and he could do well, i worry about us providing him witht eh right support, not Bielsa himself.

50% win rate at Marseille is pretty poor as 4th is not good enough for them. He also walked out after first game of season, at Lazio after 2 days and Lille sacked him as they were hovering around relegation at Christmas. Also he probably doesnt speak any English and we have no budget to offer him

If we dont get Bielsa i will look a right twit as ive defended him quite a bit, here we go lol.

If you look at Marseille in context he improved there league position, he made them some money, one of his signings for £1mil was sold to Spurs for £11mil after one season, he signed Lucas Ocampos who at the time was one of the mostly highly rated players in the world (youngsters) and last season was one of the clubs top performers.

And he quit because after his 4th placed finish, hoping to build, he found 5 of his key players sold, 23 goal Andre Pierre Gignac, 11 goal Andre Ayew, Florian Thauvin, Gianielli Imbula and Dmitri Payet (who wasnt keen anyways and subsequently forced a move back there). Thats like you not having Jonathan Kodjia, Robert Snodgrass, Jack Grealish, Albert Adomah and Connor Hourihane last season, and replacing them on the cheap.

Lille i admit it doesnt look good, but delving deeper its important to remember the style Bielsa plays (like Pep) requires specific players, any old player no matter how good wont do, they have to have the right skillset and mentality, at Lille Bielsa was at odds with Luis Campos, they clashed over transfers. Interestingly the 3 or 4 Bielsa was allowed to sign did pretty well in the end, but the majority of players wernt his choice.

If the players signed dont match the style the manager plays then it wont work.

Well apart from the fact that Green was injured for most of the season, and that Davis had over 25 appearances, your analysis is spot on.

Someone else said he didnt play the kids, i don't know if he does or not.

But how many academy kids has he blooded?

25 appearances for Davis, is he the only one whose been a semi regular since bruce arrived?

If you do need to tighten the purse string will Bruce use the academy?

His reluctance to use youth players. Only one who has gotten a decent chance of the last year which was Keinan Davis and that was only because of how short we were up top. As soon a Grabban joined he didn't get another look in.

Also brought in Onomah who wasn't that great, who played in similar position to a great young talent we have Calum O'Hare. O'Hare again got about one or two chances, in which he got an assist in but was never to be seen in the match day squad.

As I write this Andre Green also got a chance when Adomah was injured but he got injured too and I wonder if he would have been frozen out as well.

Wondered what happened to Davis and Green when i was watching the Playoffs, they were nowhere to be seen. If Davis is the tall striker, i liked him, thought he was a decent player whenever i saw him.

Ironic he seems reluctant to play the kids, his last season at Scumchester was the infamous "you cant win anything with kids" season.

"Fielding half the pitch with strikers when you're behind and struggling to impose yourself on the game as it is, will swing momentum in your favour.

Strikers = goals. Build up play = poppycock.

    Consider this deeply."

Excerpt from Steve Bruce's, Way of Strategy.

    Oh i see.

    "Ger it forward lad"

"kick it, now kick it harder".

Is that the sort of words of wisdom from the touchline we would be getting?

  18. Bielsa walked out on Lille, Lazio and Marseille over transfers apparantly.

Lazio promised to sign certain players, they didnt, so he left.

Lille signed tons of players he didnt want.

Marseille sold key players (same as Bilbao i think) against his wishes.

His record at Marseille was 4th with 50% win percentage so not to bad.

I cant reply to people individually atm sorry, Internet issues.

Phil Hay said an hour ago to someone "he wasnt aware of any approach to Bruce, although wouldn't rule him out if Bielsa falls through".

Apparently we have 2 options apart from Bielsa, one foreign (rumoured to be either Almeyda or Inzaghi) and one British ( no clue who but seems whoever was mentioned to Phil it wasnt Bruce).

    Thank the lord.

I value him at £40m. I think in normal circumstances the club would not have considered bids below £35m. If other clubs don't value him at £40m they would have been at liberty to take their money elsewhere and buy someone else who did meet their valuation.Sadly, these are not normal circumstances and it's a buyer's market at Villa Park. As a result clubs will make derisory bids for our players in the knowledge that we have little choice other than to sell our players to try to stay afloat. English players do come at a premium price and the value we put on Jack reflects that but you can't always get what you want particularly when money is too tight to mention.

I feel for you fans since we have been through what it looks like you may have coming, firesales, money issues, key players going for a pittance etc.

Do the prices we value our English players at reflect the inflated opinion as a nation we have of there talent?

By that i mean after a couple of games player X is going to be the next big thing, loads of them through the years, and most of them drift away or never get close to the hype.

Ross Barkley, Ravel Morrison, Seth Johnson etc etc, all hyped up to the max when young, big money values, none of them got close to being world class.
