I'd be surprised if we don't hear of another completed signing either today or tomorrow. (just my opinion)

Me too. I can feel it in my testicles. I think there will be 2 or 3 in the next couple of weeks at least. Fingers crossed.

By the number of people who have reacted unkindly to this I just hope people don't have their hopes too high and ultimately start getting on Dean Smiths back if we are near the relegation zone at any point.

Obviously there are still a number of signings to be made and the calibre of player signed will ultimately point towards where we are likely to finish.

But even then it takes time to gel, people pointing to Wolves as an example are so wrong as they pretty much kept the team together that came up with a few additional signings.

Even if we get relegated I hope so much that Dean Smith is allowed the opportunity to bring us back up like Sean Dyche did at Burnley.

The last thing we need is a new manager this season.

Yep. I do think 95% of fans would be happy with 17th to be honest, regardless of dreams of top 10 finishes.

It is really important that everyone stays behind the team through the bad patches. We will inevitably take a few beatings, but I think we will also grab a few memorable surprise results along the way too. As long as the players are committed, we carry on doing business in the same vain as we have done so far, and we play positive football, Deano and the team will always have my backing.

Cavaleiro, Costa, and sometimes Adama upfront (lol)

It was Jimenez up front pretty much 100% of the time though wasn't it, with Jota becoming a kind of second striker half way through the season. I must admit I watched Match of the Day exactly zero amounts of times last season and all of my Wolves knowledge comes from FPL and FPL podcasts. Im just highlighting that there are plenty of teams in the prem making do without any good 2nd choice strikers. Look at Spurs. When Kane picks up his annual ankle injury they don't trust Llorente so much that they go with Son and/or Moura (again, FPL podcasts mainly). This has proved pretty successful so again im making a shit, pointless point. :D

As I touched on, i'll be disappointed if we don't sign another striker, so I don't reaaally know what im trying to say. I THINK my main point is that some have said we need a 2nd option to stop teams figuring us out. I don't really buy into that based on a fair amount of examples, but I do think we need someone we can reliably turn to if Wesley gets injured or needs time to settle.

Maupay and Wesley as our 2 striker options would be excellent. Look at Fulham last year, they pretty much had Mitrovic to rely on and when he was not scoring they were screwed.

Alternatively, you could say that Wolves just had Jimenez and did fine. Im not disagreeing with you though, I definitely want to see another good striker come in, and I know we play a different system to Wolves so it is hard to compare.

...I forget what point I was trying to make...

Exactly, we need one or two more decent strikers, if things do go wrong we can't be falling back on Kodjia and Davis that's for sure.

It would be down right dangerous to have to rely on what we just have at the moment, think we should bring in one Premier proven striker at least and as a third option as I've said before Maupay would be fantastic option to have, so yes two more.

That's why I'd sell kodjia, get rid of Hogan too, someone must be interested in those two somewhere. I think it says alot about what a strike force we built when no one wants your flipping strikers and there's no interest in taking them off your hands, you know they have severly screwed up and the club did my signing them.

Maupay as a THIRD option?! That has zero chance of happening! I hope we sign 1 more striker but really can't see us signing 2. Im happy to use Davis occasionally (though he might be better going off on loan). How many teams have 3 top quality strikers these days?

What is 'strange' about picking up on a defenders errors? You are aware he is a defender right so of course those mistakes will be highlighted.

Dunks quality not sure why your laughing at that.

I agree we should get Hause  and kings but I don't think we should be playing stupid money for sale of it of it came down to it.

You have to also remember he hadn't kicked a ball in anger for ages before he came to us and was expected to hit the ground running. You can expect a few errors in that situation, but for the most part he was an absolute beast. I doubt he would make as many mistakes next season.

Found this from a West Ham fan on one of their forums. Harsh or fair?

Only very mild complaint is having what currently on paper is the easiest fixture of the season – Villa at home – as the last game of the season.

Currently that is fair, come August I doubt it will be.

    FYP.

Exactly! Why is everyone saying they would take 14th or mid-table or top half as if its expected and anything less is a bad season. Survival is the only thing that matters this season as far as im concerned and id be thrilled with anything more than that. Lets not get carried away people.

This is where you are a typical villa fan. Short sighted. You should use his testicle and breed many many mini hazards for the future not just spend the money for instant results for about the 2 years he has left at the top.

    Little Bio-Hazards?

After a bit of research on Pablo Fornals, he seems to be mainly an attacking central midfielder... we are pretty stocked in that area already, so I'd be surprised if we are throwing big money at this.

He'd be a very expensive back up for Grealish...

Id be very surprised if this happens, but I do think that a lot of people are assuming we will set up with exactly the same system next season as this season. It is easy to forget this is largely not Dean Smith's team yet. Imagine Grealish, Fornals and AEG all interchanging...

? He was a left back, just like mings was. Hause for wolves played across the back in more than one position, left back being to main one, mings was signed from Ipswich as a left back.

A lot of CB start off at RB or LB early in their careers. I would suggest CB is the more natural position for both players, but Hause can definitely be utilised as backup LB if needed.

  12. Tomori would be a very good signing IMO. Admittedly I can't say i've seen massive amounts of him but from what ive heard on podcasts and read, he completely fits the mould of what we are trying to build. If he is good mates with Tammy, that could also work in our favour.

  13. Hi guys,

Great to be here. I have actually been lurking in the shadows for about a year now! Probably time I got involved.

Born in Nottingham to a family of big Notts County fans (still close to my heart), I shamefully rebelled after falling for the claret and blue in a local JD sports around the age of 7. Loved the club ever since. Now I live in London. I try to get up to VP as often as possible but it has been difficult with work etc.

Anyway, great to be here. Fingers crossed for a big performance on Monday and getting back to where we belong. UTV
