Worried about King, imo a player that is playing at a club below his level. Consistently scores over 10 goals a season (had 16 two years ago) and has the ability to bully defenders with his pace and power.

We need to get the ball down and play our game, I'm cautiously hoping for a 2-1 win.

Wilson much the better player imo. They have players that can hurt us for sure with King, Wilson and Fraser, but im confident we can get our first 3 points on the board with this one.

    Anyway, back to  veganism.

My son plans to go vegan in a couple of weeks, for a while, not forever.

His vegan aunt has promised to send him links to the dietary supplements he will need to take.

Seems to me that if your diet requires you to consume industrially processed diet supplements in order to protect your health, you're doing it wrong.

Sound logic and obviously a good thing to be concerned about, but my understanding is that the only vitamin that is a real concern is B12. Everything else you can find in plant foods if you know what you are doing.

It is a vitamin that is not produced by plants or animals, it is produced by bacteria. It used to be much more prevalent in soil and therefore plants than it is today, but because of modern agriculture soil is exposed to tons of pesticides and antibiotics, which has massively diminished B12 in the soil and no longer reliable.

However, it is still quite prevalent in manure (not the team) and unsanitised water, which livestock are exposed to. Their feed is also often supplemented with B12, so whether using your own supplement or eating animals, you are still getting a lot of it supplemented. It also does grow in their intestines, so yes, you will get some 'natural' B12 from animal products.

There is evidence that B12 from animal sources is quite difficult for a lot of people to absorb anyway, and a significant percentage (some studies say up to 40%) of people are deficient in B12 anyway, so because of the poor quality soil, it is not an issue that is solely a concern for vegans.

It is easy to get either in a spray or in fortified milks/cereals etc. As someone else said, how many people on a 'standard' diet take supplements or eat fortified foods as it is.

I get it and it is a responsible stance to see on the surface of it that vegans often take supplements so it can't be a healthy lifestyle, but when you dig deeper there is much more to it than that.

  3. It's a bit like when you were a kid and snuck into your parent's room to find your Christmas presents 2 weeks before the big day. You are so excited about all the presents you find. You even knew all the way back in January that you were going to get one of them but now it is here in front of your eyes it is even better and cooler than you thought. But then over the next few weeks you can't help but feeling 'hmmm, what if theres an even bigger, cooler toy that I didn't find!' Then when the big day finally comes and you are left with all those presents you found a few weeks earlier you can't help but feel a tad disappointed.

  4. Disappointing we are having to defend our transfer dealings after what has been an amazing window.

Genuinely interested, how would people be feeling if we had just signed Wesley today? Or if 5 our our signings had come in the last 48 hours. More optimistic I would imagine.

Man City's youth players are proably a lot better than ours, we let most of our U23 strikers go in the summer  other than Davis, so if we have an injury crisis we're only left with the U18 strikers. Besides I wasn't saying it was a bad or good thing, just pointing out that it could happen, and it wouldn't take that much of an unusual turn of events for it to happen.

Man City roll with it by putting Sterling up front, as they did in the community shield. Everton played with Richarlison up front for much of last season. We would maybe go with Trez or AEG if it came down to it. 3 players would have to be unavailable for it to happen and even then it wouldn't be the end of the world imo. Not ideal obviously, but not the end of the world.

As dramatic as it might sound, all it would take is for two of our strikers to get injured or suspened at the same time, for us to end up with one of Dmitri Sea, Hooper, Odutayo, Archer or one of the our other youth strikers on our bench, not really sure who's rated the highest out of those, Sea seems to be amongst the goals often, and Odutayo has looked very decent whenever I've seen him.

Tshibola can probably do a job...

  7. Realistically, I think we only need Wesley to chip in with 10 goals minimum and consistently give the level of link up he has done in pre-season, and he is more than capable of that. There are so many goals in our midfield with Grealish, Mcginn, Trez, Jota, AEG, and Conor chipping in with a few set pieces when he gets the chance. Plus Mingles (that term is here to stay) will get a nice return of goals im sure.

Imagine if he had gone into his press conference ahead of our first PL game and he had said 'No I'm not happy with the squad we should have bought some better players for the wings and up front'

We might as well have not bothered turning up on Saturday.

Could just say we were looking to add one or two to strengthen a couple of areas but we are happy with what we have and won't be forced to pay over the odds for anyone. We have done some great business and the squad is raring to go etc...

Just no need to avoid mentioning we were looking at players, thats all. Again, im not criticising at all. Just something I picked up on.

  9. The only thing I don't really like about that presser is Deano saying we are happy with what we have as if we weren't after more deals, when a couple of days ago on 5Live he was saying there are areas we are looking to strengthen and are looking to get 1 or 2 more in. Nobody (barring the ever-negative few) would think worse if he just admitted we couldn't get those couple of deals done.

Not a criticism, just wish the statement was a bit more genuine and transparent as he usually is. Having said that, im only going off what I have read. Not actually seen the presser so I could be talking nonsense.

There’s a fair few interested ( I’m still hoping to be able to go myself !) so if I can’t go I was going to pick one at random. Happy to include you if you want but it could be as late as Friday, and unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to do much about getting it to you.

( posted rather than DM in case anyone else wanted to know)

Definitely interested but I think actually getting the ticket will be hassle, so im happy to gracefully bow out of this one. Cheers anyway!

My ticket may be available. I’m currently 50/50 whether I can go.

Its right in the middle of our allocation, towards the back.

If I can’t go I’m happy to sell ( face value of course) so if anyone is interested let me know.

I should know for sure by Thursday but might be as late as Saturday morning.

Whoever wanted it would probably have to collect from me in Bewdley although I’m happy to drive 10 mile or so.

I'd love to go but I live in London. Would have to arrange a way to get the ticket to me.

Don't understand why people are putting in Trezeguet over Jota tbh

Only thing I can think is that people are thinking Jota is more a player to control a home game against 'weaker' opposition and Trez is more a player to hit the big teams on the break away from home?

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. In the summer of 2015 there was genuine excitement after the transfer window.

Numerous players came in and for the most part we were excited by them.

We were relegated with our lowest points tally ever.

I'm not saying it's going to happen this time around, I think for a change we've got it right this year, but lets see where we are by Christmas before we go patting ourselves on the back.

Well BT's 'script' had us bottom at Christmas soooo....
