Because Southgate often puts Grealish in the " Forwards " category.
Hence one of the forwards would need to be dropped. ( I.E Ollie )
Yes Pep spent 100 mill on him yet he's not a guaranteed starter and is often displaced by other players who cost a fraction of that.
I don't know why some people can't just accept that there are other quality players in the world and in England which have probably performed better over the season and may suit the teams needs better.
" His talent is blindingly obvious " yes, it is, but the talents of multiple other players in the squad also are.
If you think Jack would have free reign here now like he did under Deano you are sadly mistaken as well.
I even saw him say it in an interview " At City Pep wants me to play in a system a certain way, Deano used to just tell me to go out and do whatever I want "
And it would be similar here under Unai.
You guys moan that it should be on form and merit, not reputation when our players aren't included, yet want Jack included mostly based on reputation and " his talent which Pep paid 100 million for ". He hasn't been there this season.
If they could take.more players I'm sure he would be on the plane, but Managers have to make tough decisions in these scenarios ( whether correct or not )
Anyway these are the scenarios where I'm glad as a Jamaican my biggest worry is if the Association can pay for the players flights
Again I'm not sure where you're going with this and I think you're really oversimplifying people's views tbh. I don't want him back at Villa, that ship has sailed. And yes other players have talents but it's not just talented or not talented is it? There's levels to it.
I don't want Jack in for his reputation, I want him in for his ability, it's a unique ability which would give us more control in the games against the top nations.

Very surprised he's been omitted, thought he looked excellent the other night (admittedly it's only Bosnia of course). I don't really care whether a player has 'had a good season', the question is whether they'd be the best option for England, and since I've defended Southgate so many times before for picking on squad role rather than form I'm surprised (and slightly critical) that he seems to be picking on form now.
That said, Gordon is also a good option, and left-sided wide forward is not where England's problems are likely to lie in this tournament.
What was playing him in that game all about? Plays him, plays excellently, dropped anyway. What's the point?

I thought the only reason Southgate never used to choose him was because he played for Villa and he hated us?
Jokes aside I'm seeing quite the uproar about this on Social Media, but if he had dropped Ollie and taken Jack instead you'd be moaning as well
Crazy to see how obsessed fans still are about him.
Whether you agree or not, whether he is a shite manager or not, the notion that he makes decisions based on petty fan conspiracies is mental.
What has Watkins got to do with anything? I'm not obsessed with Grealish, but his quality is blindingly obvious. Hence why Pep, one of the greatest managers ever, spent £100m on him.
Who's said anything about fan conspiracies? Not sure what narrative you're trying to spin with that. I never thought Southgate had a grudge against us but I think he MAY have held one against Jack. Either way, this is just criticism of Southgate for not taking a game changer.

You would be picking him on reputation not form. Something fans usually berate a manager for.
No, I'd be picking him based on the fact he's one of our best players.

He's been obviously successful, he's won everything, he's exceptionally well paid. But there's a world were he's one of the greatest English players ever. He has the talent and the ability, there are very few English players who approach the game he does, and the failings in his game feel coachable (essentially it's just he should score more). But he's going to go down as just quite good who never quite fulfilled his potential.
Obviously some of that is his choices, both on and off field, and some of that is injuries. But he really should have been a real great, and he won't be.
Tbf he should have been a key player for England at Euro 2020/2021. Southgate's fault and his fault only that he wasn't. Criminally underused.

Gordon is also direct, and plays in a less stacked position. Honestly, if Bowen isn't playing up top I think he's kind of average. Like if you bring him off the bench against Germany or France and stick him on the left, what is he going to do really?
Oh I don't think Bowen and Gordon are good enough to be having impact on those games. Tbf though Eze and Palmer should be ahead of them both anyway, but Grealish should be in that squad. Laughable he isn't.

Problem with Bowen is that he played mostly as a striker this season where Kane, Watkins and Toney play, but he's also competing with Saka, Palmer and Foden as a right sided forward. Personally, I don't think he's a useful addition to the squad, he's inferior to all the other players mentioned despite his good season.
But, he is our most direct option.
I'd still have taken Grealish over him but would have taken Bowen over Gordon.

As expected Southgate won't take him. Southgate doesn't rate jack, never has.
He either doesn't rate him (could be because he has the most basic understanding of the game), or doesn't like him, or a combination of the two.

Gordon, Bowen and Eze you can say all have an argument to be in there on merit.
Toney is the weird one for me. Why not take Grealish over him? He's only had half a season and a poor half a season at that.
You've got Kane Watkins for that position and then Gordon and Bowen if there's some sort of bizarre injury crisis.
Gordon and Bowen aren't quite top class for me. Grealish, when he's on it, certainly is. He could still have turned it on at this tourney and he brings control in the final third. Crazy decision.

Gordon has had a brilliant season in fairness. Would have been harsh on him to be dropped for Grealish who's not really played all that much recently.
He's not fit to lace Grealish's boots though tbh. Grealish can bring final third control against top sides.
Will be the same old Southgate this summer - first decent side we face we'll be gone. Could even bottle the group.

An awful decision. Anthony Gordon over him? Laughable.
Grealish won't look out of place VS the world's best - Gordon will.

Eze looks a nice player. I'd like to see him at a top 4 club..........................Like the Villa
Him and Palmer combo is a mouthwatering prospect

What was that then about an ex Villa striker?

Oh absolutely Shaw is first choice. But Chilwell has been left out because of injury. Proof of that is the exact games you mentioned - Southgate started him in those when he’d been out for weeks, Pochettino was furious. Anyway it’s all off topic, fact is there apparently isn’t a fit left back of England standard in the country!
Yeah I was gonna say, Chilwell would certainly be going if he was fit

As if Carvajal wasn't irritating enough already, he also looks a bit like Neal Maupay.

This was the video the comments were from. Andy grays son Jamie being one of them. Said you can tell his leg isn't right. Few made out that he won't be back at the top level.
Which video? The one you quoted has no comments like that.

The attitude angle is a weird one. The man hustled like **** all season for an awful Luton team doomed to go down. Could easily have just taken his handsome PL payday and done bugger all much like many of our own old ex-England internationals in our relegation season.
Not really, he's had question marks over the majority of his career

Luiz is our best midfielder but Kamara is our most important outfield player.
In the same way Rodri isn't City's best player but he's their most important.
In your opinion. Many would argue Rodri is City's best player. He's elite at many things.

Kamara is so underrated on here it's untrue.

And their ex coach was Ian McShane aka Lovejoy. Can't take them seriously anymore.

Funnily enough I thought about this earlier, I wondered what Kane had thought of it because I remembered him saying at the last Euros how much he loved playing with him.
