Lovre Kalinic's appeal for a work permit has been REJECTED, and so his transfer to Aston Villa has fallen through. http://dalmatinskiportal.hr/sport/sok--odbijena-radna-dozvola--propao-transfer-lovre-kalinica/9783

Hajduk officials are said to be "in shock" at the decision as they were set to get a clear 4m euros out of the deal. Big blow.

Chelsea apparently want Pato so that means even less time for Remy...

You may be onto something there

I thought it was a bit strange that Garde came out with the Remy thing at the time. He is not stupid, he must have sounded something out first. Maybe Chelsea said that it maybe possible so long as they get there additional signings in the window. Hiddink got annoyed cuz there was no guarantee of this. The supporters would also have been annoyed if Hiddink had said yes Remy may go on loan, when they hadn't signed anyone yet. Just speculating (wishful thinking) of course.

Think this is Lerner signing off and AVFC standing on their own two feet. Fox and Hollis will run the club and take responsibility for everything, set and manage their own budgets, recruit staff etc.

Reading the statement a few things jump out.

    1. Ellis is going to remain engaged but at a somewhat further distance? I didn't think he was closely involved at all nowadays and wonder when he will next be at a game?

    2. Talks about Villa as a business and needing to grow. The opportunity cost of relegation this year due to cost saving in the transfer market is immense due to the TV deal. No business model should have allowed this and greater investment should occur (last summer ideally).

    3. Stev's statement about 'money no longer buys success' is worrying. It doesn't guarantee success on a football field but it certainly makes it more likely. He talks of Randy's previous financial backing and references last year (ignoring our net spend and lack of real backing) but then implies future success will not be due to Randy's backing but due to a winning culture.

    4. There is no talk of strong January recruitment to try and avoid relegation and these things to me imply that we will not be splashing the cash this window on players to keep us up but instead be looking to rebuild in the Championship.

    Hehe ;)

  5. Success on the pitch is above and beyond all other factors that drive a successful football club. That is why the chairman should have some football background,  and that is why running a football club is not like any other business.

Not in the Gironde group for the quarterfinals of the League Cup on Tuesday night, Lamine Sane approaches a start. It is in contact with Aston Villa.

Ultimately unsuccessful in the group that faced Lorient (2-0) Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the League Cup, defender Lamine Sane Bordeaux he play again under the shirt to the shoulder? It's unlikely.

Out of contract in June 2017, the Senegalese international (28 years) does not hide his desire for departure and it is in contact with Aston Villa. English club coach, Remi Garde, took information about the player in the Bordeaux club entourage. At Hailsham, it confirms the existence of a serious touch but nothing should definitely be concluded Wednesday evening.

This would be the second start of the week Bordeaux side after that of Henri Saivet for another Premier League club, Newcastle. This would also be the first winter signing for Aston Villa after the loan back Aly Cissokho, while Remi Garde was from its difficulty attracting players because of the situation of the club, last in the Premier League.
