Merse could be a help in this but correct me if im wrong, i hear he is still a big drinker? Maybe not half as bad as he was but ive heard a few stories of him knocking around the pubs in mere green. Ultimately its down to Jack to take the advice and do something about it.

A current member of the first team decided a few years ago that knocking around with 2 other team mates who were like Jack out on the razz most weekends wasnt going to help his career. He stopped knocking around with them and he is now in regular contention at first team level while the other two are playing in the championship now. Jack maybe needs to look at this and decide weather his mates are any good for his career or not.

Definitely was a couple of years ago. I remember this as I live in Warwick.....

Former England footballer Paul Merson has been given a 14-month-driving ban after pleading guilty to drink-driving following a motorway crash. Merson crashed his Mercedes ML350 into a 38-tonne lorry after falling asleep at the wheel on the M40, near Warwick, Leamington Magistrates' Court heard.8 Feb 2012

    I said it would be.

I imagine the initial story was true, about us approaching him before Garde came in, and Garde having the courtesy to meet with him.
But it would have been incredibly stupid, even for Villa, to force an unwanted assistant on the manager/

Yeah sounds about right Steve. I thought at the time, brand new manager and there gonna go against his wishes straight away? Surely they can't be that idiotic. But there's always that niggling little doubt with Villa when it comes to this sort of thing. So glad it's come to nothing. Please turn things round Mr Garde so we can all stick two fingers up to those see you next tuesdays in the media!

  3. Yeah I can't see how he can blame Garde for his antics. He says George Graham would make him get on the coach and ruin his weekend. Times are different and Jack is responsible for his own actions. Anyway Remi says that he would only normally let players stay in a city after a game a couple of times a season. Sounds like Merson was at it every weekend.

  4. So the rumour Steve Round was being lined up even though Garde didn't want him was a load of BS. The media trying to create issues and stir the pot. Probably Sherwoods disgruntled pals, rocket polishers! Apparently he was offered a more junior role by Garde which wasn't his cup of tea.

  5. So this is the first time Remi has had any real time with the full squad this past week to get his ideas and tactics over to the team. I expect us to be well prepared for Watford and show that we are actually a team that can play in a system that allows us to finally show our players individual strengths. If so I can finally have something to be optimistic about Villa for the first time in what seems like an eternity! Please don't let me down.

  6. 5-2 to villa.

First team players feature in Bodymoor match.

Adama Traore, Libor Kozak and Charles N'Zogbia all played 90 minutes as Villa ran out comfortable winners over Fleetwood Town in a behind-closed-doors match at Bodymoor Heath.

Defender Jores Okore also stepped up his return from a long-term knee injury while Philippe Senderos also featured for the full match.

U21 skipper Jordan Lyden put the hosts in control with two well-taken strikes from the edge of the penalty area.

Kieran Dunbar reduced the deficit before the break.

Adama Traore restored Villa's two-goal advantage before a penalty from Fleetwood's Vamara Sanogo made it 3-2.

In the end, the claret and blues' quality and experience shone through as goals from N'Zogbia and the impressive Traore secured a comprehensive win.

There was also a useful workout for midfielder Gary Gardner.

Villa: Bunn, Webb, Okore, Senderos, Kinsella, Traore, Lyden, Gardner, Hayes, N'Zogbia, Kozak

Strong lineup.  No goals for Kozak, couple for Adama though. Surely Adama will make the squad for Watford!?

We were lucky against citeh. At no point did that game look like anything but a citeh win.

I disagree, I actually think it looked like it would be a draw for most of the game because of our organisation and effort, and low and behold.....

  8. Pretty simple really. He wasn't being unsporting at all. He tried to tell Hart he wanted to put it out for a G kick. Hart tried to be clever and cocked it up. End of. No need for a discussion about unsporting conduct at all!

I hope that's not in reference to my posts(s).

Not at all sir. You yourself said that you didn't think he was trying to gain a corner. Hart is a top GK .If he can get in the way of a shot hit at 50/60 mph I'm sure he can get out of the way of a throw in that wasn't directly thrown at him!

  10. Sick and tired of being the nice guys and losing , Hart was moaning all game and nearly got what he deserved by being a clever arse .

I was a bit disappointed with Rudy's work rate , he didn't close down or but pressure on their center backs who were running into out half unopposed late in the game, fitness issues?

Fitness issues? You do know he came on in the 84th minute right? Or do you mean he was carrying a knock? Can't be suggesting he's knackered after running for 2 mins surely!

  11. He'll get injured and we'll be forced to play Bunn one of these days. I just hope that there isn't as many people feeling the need to beg for him to get fit asap as there is blaming him for practically every goal we concede.

  12. He's a good player. Sadly its only for 45minutes. Granted he has a colossal amount of work to do as a dm in a team that can't keep the ball. But he still seems to have a fitness issue.

Correct me if im wrong, but: As for the international games covering a longer distance, its the intensity/tempo he covers the ground and not the distance in itself that's the problem. He acummulates to much lactic acid. I have no idea how they do training at the club, but if he's not doing it allready, he needs to hit some 4x4s every week.

If we actually manage to keep the ball more he might be able to do full 90mins without doing extra work.

If you run or sprint for 90 mins you cover more ground than if you jog for 90 mins. Unless international players have legs that are 3 foot longer than those in the premier league then I think your point is pretty flawed!
