  1. Guy's don't get me wrong, I'll always be Villa. It's just not the same anymore.

What are we looking at right now?, our best player possibly going to the team we beat in the semi-final whose manager will be out if they are not in the top 4 come December. A chairman who wants out, maybe, kind of, possibly who knows. Fans who are that frustrated they have been fighting with each other (and not just at Wembley). A manager whose only managed 50 odd games and a team that can lose to most league one teams on any given day.

In the past we have been through rough spells but I always felt optimism. Going down then coming back up with GT, losing GT to England but singing all day at Everton until he came out to us.

Maybe I've got it wrong and everyone else will go next season with renewed faith but deep down I can't shake the feeling that something drastic needs to happen for us all to wake from our slumber and reclaim our pride and self-belief.

Either it's just me being an old git or others feel the same way?. Either way don't get me wrong I'm Villa till I die.

  2. Having traveled over from Perth for the final with all the hassle involved (time off work, away from my family, cost of flights and tickets plus beer money and shed loads on souvenirs for my lads), I think I'm done with the Villa now. Sitting on the plain from Dubai for 11 hours to Perth I had plenty of time to reflect on Saturday's disappointment. Obviously it's easy for me to say this as I'm halfway around the world but I think even if I was still in the UK I'd feel the same. Going down the Villa even football in general just isn't the same.

If we start with football in general it's been taken away from the working classes. Our F.A are spitting over FIFA and how it's all corrupt, but they are just as bad. Every semi-final now has to be played at Wembley, the two finalists get 25k each in a stadium that holds 90k.

Now the big one, "Villa" after 35 years of loyalty I've had enough. I've had good and bad times with the usual scraps along the way. I think the last four years have just ground me down. The football's been rubbish with the odd exception, the chairman's been rubbish and the managers he's appointed have been rubbish. During this four years slowly but surely my mates have dropped off along the way. It's took me 40 hours of traveling and $3,000 to come to the same conclusion "I'm done".

The fans deserve more, when I got to the airport my wife and kids were waiting to pick me up. Any good they ask as one, yeah really good until we kicked off. Anyway this is a big season for Villa, I know we always say that. But this is, Randy has to get it right before he slopes back to America with as much money as he can get for us. TS has to get it right because you fear another relegation season will see us down. The biggest thing is they need to do this to keep the fans they still get before any more start to feel like me. I hope they get it right, and in 5/6 months time I'm looking from afar enviously as we beat Man Utd at home.

  3. Doesn't play regular enough and when he does play makes too many mistakes for an international player. Let somebody else pay him 40k a week for 17/20 games a season. Move on can get better value for money elsewhere.

  4. early Wednesday morning get a taxi to Perth airport, get flight to Dubai, short wait then flight to Brum. Saturday get coach to Wembley, head back to Brum after the game. Sunday sleep most the day then fly back Monday ready for work Wednesday

  5. Well done Villa for closing the game out. Need to put more of our chances away to make the loose heart. Think we should rest a few players for the Saints game as a few look a bit leggy. Three wins to finish the season off will do me. O and big fat Sam is and always will be a clearing in the woods who football is long ball and fight for the scraps.

  6. Agree 100% have seen us win the league and European cup when I was a kid, then the league cups in the 90's. The big one for me is still the FA cup. I remember the build up on cup final day from 11am till 5:30, the team buses, showing all the crowds walking down Wembley way and the brass band on the pitch. It didn't matter what teams were competing you always picked one of them for the day that you wanted to win. Most of this has changed in my opinion due to sky, now most the teams in the final are hated due to over exposure and media bias. But this year has a different feel. Aston Villa are in the final and after the wins against Albion and Liverpool we are believing in this great club again. I've just read that it,s retro day against Everton this Saturday. Well to me it will be retro day on the 30th May and I,'ll be wearing the 57 cup final shirt.

  7. Vlaar is our best defender, however, Okore and Clark > Vlaar and Clark. Let Okore and Clark ride out the rest of the season, Vlaar isn't staying here anyway.[/quot

Agree with this, Vlaar is off come the end of the season imo.

  8. I think he's a better player than we have seen so far do to Lambert's insistence on not playing with wingers. He reminds me of Alan Smith (Arsenal) who had good hold up play and scored a lot of his goals from balls across the box.
