  1. The contrasting reports on the fee are interesting. You had Ornstein saying it was less than £35 million whist others were saying it was high enough to comfortably be a record fee. No mention of it being a record on the OS which may or may not mean something.

  2. This is a real, reeeeeal statement signing. Although somehow that doesn't exactly feel new for Villa at this point.

I'm guessing it'll be just about too early to see him involved for tomorrow night but I'm excited for how he'll fit in. Think he offers exactly what this team has needed in the final third.

  3. As much as people are insisting that Mings and Torres will be first choice together, 1) we don't know that and 2) as much as its protested against, it is uncommon and generally frowned upon by coaches for two left-footed centre backs to partner one another. History and general common practice suggests the two may not partner one another, in which case I don't think there's anything wrong with highlighting how much of a risk it would be for Mings to be displaced as first choice given how crucial he has been to us.

There wasn't any take there that was particularly wild at all to be honest. It's not like he said it was destined to fail, he literally outlined exactly what Torres excels in at the same time and how that can benefit the team.

  4. I actually don't think there's much wrong with the actual content of the video as they are certainly factors to consider in the signings, its just the manner in which its presented with the title of it where the know what they are doing and defensive Villa fans will duly oblige them.

Why don't you just post without mentioning me. Just a post on poster because some of us tired of +100 links majority bullshit

I was disagreeing with your claim rather than speaking on you personally. My initial post was literally on the topic of the sport that this forum is based on and it's only been the following posts from others that are - once again - referring to random subjective forum etiquette that most people couldn't be arsed with. You've made your point rather often that you dislike transfer speculation during the transfer window, some of us don't feel the same though, so c'est la vie and let people get on with it.🙂

Lo Celso would be an interesting one anyway.

Not sure why this has been bumped

I did cover why in the post, it's a thread dedicated to him and he was topical today. He's also continued to be linked by reliable folk as recently as about a week ago despite what our cheery friend Kiwi has said above, so pretty relevant in the grand scheme of things.

To be fair, I'm glad he's doing it. It's reassuring. If he wasn't saying anything, doubt starts to creep in. Maybe PSG are in for him etc.

He also gets bombarded by fans on his other tweets asking for updates on it, it's not like it's totally out of nothing.

Hoping this signing will go someway to helping Bailey too but not feeling extremely confident about that. One thing that strikes me from the videos i've seen of Diaby (and Bailey tbf) is that there seems to be loads of space behind the defence in the German league. Not sure if that's due to teams generally playing a high line or losing the ball in transitions more. Don't watch enough of it to know.

It's a mad league alright. In my head 90% of the goals there look like this one he scored last season:

PSG's most successful manager and he is seen as a failure. I despise the British media.

That job is a thankless task really, unless you win the Champions League with them you're not going to be viewed as a success so Emery's not alone there.

  10. Al-Nassr only owe a few hundred thousand to be fair, so I'd imagine it's something they'll resolve quickly so they can proceed to drop millions on more players.

Hopefully folk are correct that his preference is to play in the Premier League,
