Origi looks rather raw, if bought by a supposed big club, a loan out to a different premier league team would perhaps work better

Will be interesting to see who Southampton buy with all this money they've got from the sales. Potentially more to come as lovren been linked around aswell.
Can see saints going for mainly overseas players with this money.

Belgium Korea game been a bore. Hopefully pick up in second half. Haven't been overly impressed with Belgium so far this tournament, expected more...

What is that five guys place like? Heard good things!

Steep transfer fee for shaw after only playing the one full season in the premier league... Will help him that Evra is staying at Man U, experienced player to learn from.

I think a ban from playing for Uruguay for an extended period of time would have been much more fair. I can see this case dragging on from a Liverpool side for a long time. As I assume they will appeal this and try take it as far as possible...

There seems to be a lot of negativity towards Hulls purchasing here, but Long and Jelavic were good buys. Livermore played well last season, for the most part, and Snodgrass is a very good player when fit. I personally think they're good buys. I guess we'll see. £30m isn't actually that expensive for 4 first team choices any more.
Good purchases as they all have premiership experience, but I think a bit overpriced.

So as the group stage concludes what has been everyones favourite group and why? My personal favorite has been the Spain, Netherlands group. Some outrageously good games, some amazing goals like Cahill and Van Persie. All 6 games were very good and the quality of football was very high and attacking. And it was nice to see Spain finally humbled.
Have to agree with the above, has been some brilliant football played by all the teams in that group. Have enjoyed watching most of the games to be honest, a lot of attacking football compared to the last World Cup.

How and why did we let Albion get Lescott?
Would be interesting to know how much lescott is getting in wages from Albion? and perhaps a large signing on fee I would've thought?

Interested to know people's opinions regarding if Suarez was a villa player, would we still want him at the club after this?

Lerner will not sack Lambert but he will walk
There is only so much any human being can take
I completely agree with this comment. I think if we are seriously struggling by Christmas time, I can see lambert walking. If lambert walks before we have new owners, I think that could put us in a very bad position. I can't imagine many managers would want to come to a struggling club knowing the owner is looking to sell as quite possibly the new owners would want their own man in.

Jake Livermore. Hull. £8m
Livermore is a good player, but not for 8 mil. I think hull could have got better value elsewhere...

Poor defending from both sides, but who cares when it's 3-2 and not an hour gone?! Been a great world cup for goals.

Has anybody seen the tv series called dexter? Watched that fairly recently on netflix and quite enjoyed it. Towards the end it can be quite repetitive but it's well worth a watch!

Moeen batted brilliantly today, expected it to be over by lunch!
Regarding Cook and the captaincy, he does seem to be getting a lot of stick now for his batting and captaincy from all over the place. I would keep him in as captain, as I believe he is the best man for job, (although that could be because no other candidates scream out as test captain) hopefully he comes good!

I decided to renew my season ticket, purely through habit. Very rarely does the football send me home happy though

Really hope Vlaar doesn't go, as I can't see us signing an adequate replacement. Losing our captain and best defender to a newly promoted team wouldn't look too good to any potential new signings either..

Like most I am still quite unsure on the prospect of Keane coming here as assistant. Has done nothing of any note as a manager, but he does have a big reputation and maybe able to pass something on to our squad.

Hi all, I'm a life long villa fan, as I assume all on here are also. I have only just signed up today, but am eager to speak to like minded villa fans and hear what they have to say on all things villa related!
