  1. At this point, I watch him play and say, "wow, he would make a decent midfielder if he gets more positional sense as he gets older" till I remember he's 27 already. Wow.

Didn't realise he was 27, I thought he was around 23/24!

I do like Luiz, but for his attacking capabilities rather than defensive. How many centre halfs can score a free kick like he has?!

  2. I couldn't see Delph moving to west ham. The fee is less than what we paid for him, and his value to the team is far greater than 5mil.

I could only see Delph leaving if a team challenging for the European spots comes in for him.

  3. I do agree with the suggestion of keeping given as number 2 and having steer out on loan to get some first team football. It all depends it given is happy to play 2nd choice, or if he wants to cut his losses and go be first choice somewhere else.

  4. Sneijder is over the hill, no where near the player he was.

Would be a strange signing for united to get sneijder, considering the attacking talent they have already at their disposal. A lot of players in similar position.

  5. Fair play to Jimmy & Root today, they've dragged us back into this! Take a bow lads, it's been great to watch.

They have done brilliant between them. At moment of typing we trail by 24. The performance of these 2 in bat shouldn't paper over the cracks of another very average batting performance by many players.

  6. Sanchez to Arsenal confirmed, great signing.

Wonder what this means for Walcott, seeing as they pretty much play in the same position?

Excellent signing although still think they need another proper centre forward alongside Giroud

Maybe the plan is to finally move Walcott in to the centre?

  7. Any views on what Andrew Strauss was heard calling Kevin Pieterson? Sackable offence or not?

I personally think it's a sackable offence. Yes he is paid to have and give his opinion, but this comment was obviously personal against kp. There is no reason to bring personal vendettas to the table.

I don't think sky will actually sack Strauss though. would be interesting to hear his reasons behind the comment and what made him say it at that point..

  8. Divock Origi. 7 goals in 45 games for Lille. 1 in 7 for Belgium. Moves to Liverpool for a massive £10m.

Another el hadji diouf perhaps? In fairness I did like the look of Origi from what I've seen of him at the World Cup. Looks a bit raw, but seems to have the qualities to succeed.

  9. Ashley Young would be a big step up from the likes of Weimann and Agbonlahor, would welcome him back, he would improve us considerably and I'm sure Benteke would be grateful for the better service.

Would welcome young back with open arms, but I just don't see it happening. Couldn't see him taking a massive wage cut to join us. It would certainly bring some optimism back to the club

  10. How much would we actually get if we sold him ? 2million ?

I think around that amount yes. Wouldn't have thought much more than that. He didn't play at all last season, and the season before he was a bit part player aswell

  11. How many times does it need to be said that both player and manager said he prob wouldn't play when he signed. Why the constant need to blame Lambert or the scouting!? It's tiresome.

I hadn't seen it anywhere saying he wouldn't play when he signed? Assuming he was signed as a striker for the future, why not loan him out as soon as we got him, or allowed him to stay in Denmark?

  12. I don't understand this. Lambert was the one who signed him, yet never gave him a chance at all. I thought Helenius looked ok in pre season.

Maybe he wasn't scouted properly before we signed him and it became apparent he wasn't good enough?

  13. Put it in the takeover thread which wasn't the right place but Siem De Jong, any good?

It's actually a pretty crucial signing for Newcastle as he looks to me Cabaye's replacement and Newcastle's form plummeted big time when he was sold so they need De Jong to be of similar quality.

They haven't signed a Remy replacement yet either. Looking to me bottom half this season.

Never seen much of de Jong but he seems to be what they needed after selling cabaye. Assuming they don't sign remy they will desperately need a striker, wouldn't surprise me if they went back in for ba.

  14. World Cup > Premier League.

This is looking like one of the best World Cups ever and you're missing it?

Watching the World Cup takes my mind off how bad this season is going to be...

  15. His squad number got taken off him.

    He wasn't wanted.

Be interesting to see the backtracking.

i believed he was going to be sold at the beginning of last season but then picked up a season long injury, so no surprises he lost his number.

who knows, he may still be sold now to raise funds?

if not, hopefully he'll put some effort in and fight for a place.

Would we get much of fee if any would you think? Obviously he would be on high wages so that would help.
