I'll mention Peter McParland and Pat Jennings as they are from my home town.  Although majority have only heard of Jennings. The older ones remember both.

McGrath without question the rest of Jacks Villa boys. soft spot for David Healy, always played well for the North.

There was actually a documentary the other day on RTE after one of the Champions League games about the split between the two Associations.  Very interesting so it was.  Can't mind the name of though.

As the manager of Ireland he was something special. The bond he had with that group of characters in the World Cup was exceptional. The Villa links to The Irish team just add to the enjoyment of their achievements.

It's how I started my love affair with Villa back in 94, I was 8. won the league cup with a team that had key Irish players then watching the Villa Irish players perform at USA94, Houghton's goal v Italy, Still remember it like yesterday.

If people don't know the "Finding Jack Charlton" documentary is on Prime if people haven't seen it when it first came out.  Very sad to see him like that though but seeing his reactions when watching old footage and remembering Paul McGrath and singing rebel songs brought a wee smile to my face. A legend for England and Ireland. 

Think we can all agree this was a successful loan for the lad. Good first team experience and a few goals. We know the Championship is a tough, physical league and he held his own.  Hope he makes an impression during pre season.

I said in the match thread, at times flashbacks of Baker and Clark came flooding back.  100% we need to consider an upgrade in centre half position during the window, someone to come in and start with Mings. I'm shocked at how quickly Konsa has regressed this season.

Just thinking, and this is not a dig Phil he is class, but have we been hindered by playing him?  Not sure if he had knock or Gerrard dropped him but we were much more threatening in attack today.

It's like having Baker and Clark at centre half again.

He doesn't really need to go. He would be a superb option from the bench, if he is happy to be a rotation player keep him around. He's also a key figure in the changing room.

Was watching the game here in Ireland. Was shown on TV. Two pundits were Damien Delaney and Kevin Doyle and they said we should steer clear of this one and invest in a younger player.  I'm on the fence as it is with Coutinho. His performances have dropped no denying but he's still head and shoulders above the others. So I don't know. Good job I don't make these decisions.

When he signed the hype from his dad made it sound like we were signing a top, top player and Bailey is doing us a favour by signing. Looking like a flop so far but we all should know each player is different when it comes to settling in and performing. Stan for example

Kevin Doyle hammering us during half time analysis. No enthusiasm, not pressing, don't seem interested. On the beach. Gerrard should be fuming etc.

Ah that changes everything. He changes tactics for them 3 games and then reverts back to that Christmas tree formation. Seems like stubbornness to me. Should play to the strengths of the squad not force formations and tactics for which we don't have the players. 

He's been here from November and apart from the "new manager bounce" he hasn't got a tune out of this squad. We are getting worse under him . Out of his depth. 

The good thing is we'll make a tidy profit when we move him on. Paid a couple of million quid in the championship? His level is lower to mid prem if we want to improve we need better.

Letting him loose on the squad this summer frightens me. He's not ready for this league and this experiment by Purslow is backfiring.
