I have a feeling he won't be cover and I would go as far as saying it could possibly see Chester now being cover with the main pairing of Terry & Tuanzebe. I could be wrong.

I’d say he‘s coming in as DM and will cover CB No way will he get in ahead of Chester or Terry.

  2. Still got weaknesses but that was a very comfortable win. Well done. Is Agnew behind the better football? We seem to be more compact with and without the ball so are better in transition. Still a work in progress but it’s very encouraging.

  3. Well played tonight. I wonder if he’s not as effective going forward in England because of the pace of the game so a bit like Petrov is better deeper? All so he showed what a bit of energy does for us in there.

I would, for the same reasons he got appointed in the first place.

Even after watching us play for the last 15 months and seeing him close up? I was happy we got Bruce as he seemed to tick all the boxes but like most fans I hadn’t taken much notice of him apart fro me his record or looked at him in detail. I’d never even seen that report in the guardian or whatever paper it was basically describing everything he’s done here which he’d already done at Sunderland.  Bruce may still get us up but he’s shown nothing to deserve to be here next year as we want to build a top team and he has shown he can’t  do that for me.

We do try them though, but I agree that I would like to see a bit more of O'Hare as he brings a lot of energy making him a solid substitution option.

Personally I am not bothered with where the players come from, lian or not. If they make an impact then that is what we need. As much as it would nourish me romantically to see our own younglings thrive right now I'm only concerned with the results. Whoever gives us a better shot at promotion should be played.

Mainly when it’s forced. Bruce talks up how hard it’s is for our kids to get used to playing in the first team but throws in other teams  and allows them bad performances when finding their feet. The role this kid does is exactly where we need to improve so hopefully he can’t step up.

Wasn't JT deciding between us and Blues before joining us?

Any team who can spend £25m+ (Wolves) can afford JT on a £100k/wk deal for a season (I don't think he's on this amount).  Don't kid yourself.

Even the doctor has alluded to the wages Wolves are paying being low for the quality they have. I suppose when the bloke buying you is your agent all sorts of deals can be done to navigate FFP anyway back to Bruce. I’m glad he’s ready realised we need energy in midfield. We are lucky he’s so experienced to notice this. Or did he read this forum from about 4 months ago?

    Tried and tested  Bruce method.

take a top clubs youngster to help get out of the Championship.

    Has worked for him before....

We’ve got a top youth set up why not try ours? Bruce seems to look outward more than he does in house. Has Onomah been that exceptional he is miles better than anything we’ve got? This kid may be brilliant but it’d have been nice to try out our kids a bit more seeing as Davis, Green, Grealish and OHare have all looked good in Championship and Doyle Hayes and Lyden have done ok in their brief time in the first team. Both should’ve been involved more by now.

  8. So going off of some of the figures on here Bruce has had £24m to spend and added a few high earners to the mix aswell. I’d say that’s him being well backed. Especially for a Championship team. It’s not as much as RDM but it’s a lot more than the majority of the Championship. You can bang on about net spend all you like but I’d rather have kept some of those players than signing some of the ones Bruce has. Bruce inherited a decent squad and has been given money to improve it. Anything other than automatic is below expectation. Bring on Saturday to find out if we have turned a corner.

So why would you waste the money then? lol

Wouldn't it make more sense to just have a manager who can take us through the full spectrum of building and pushing on then?

We all agree Bruce was a means to an end. I actually thought he’d come here and embrace the challenge and get us playing good stuff. He’s had his chance so unless we finish 2nd playing well and getting bristol City type results he should go. We need momentum next year no matter what division. Bruce doesn’t give us that.

Right now, no way I would change the manager unless we really stumbled. However, I would have changed him at the beginning of the season and after the Boro game at home. Maybe even after the Brentford game. Right now we have won 2 on the bounce and stumbled across a formation and line up that may work.

If he doesn’t change it! Bruce has a tendency to leave things when we struggle so he’s seen as backing his players but. When we win he can start to meddle. 3 at the back at Bristol being one. Pick the same team. MAybe bring back Terry? Pick the same tactics. Let other team worry about us. Then change in game if it’s not working.

Would we/Bruce take 79 points now, if given the chance? Guess so. But then Derby only needs 1,5 points pr game. Shows ho hard it is. But a couple of wins for us, and lost points for the rest it is all changed!

But if 79 is his highest ever it shows that he never hits his target of 2pts a game. It also highlights that even though he gets teams up his not all that over the course of a season.

We have two players for the DM, don't need a third. None of them would bee good enough for the PL. Striker is a priority. Davis, Hogan, gabby and Ross McC scored 3goals in the league in 2017, in all.

If we make one more loan (after striker) I want a winger, as cover for Adomah and Snoddgras.

WE have 2 old slow DM’s we could do with a mobile one. We’ve got 4 wingers already Green + Elmo without even adding in Jack, Onomah or Thor. Striker is number 1 priority followed by a better DM. Thats also the hardest to find.

Think he’s been poached four  times - didn’t he quit early in his management after a few weeks to leave Wigan for palace  and then quit palace for blues and then he quit blues for Wigan and Wigan for Sunderland .

    money talks ;)

I mean the more mid season and coming in to do a job. Like Big Sam or Pullis are known for. All managers follow the money.

  14. Has Bruce ever been poached? There’s a whole heap of managers that’s get brought in for rescue jobs or stability. Most tend to be big impact managers that get teams up for it something Bruce doesn’t seem to be able to do.

WHAT IF - Wolves went and blew FFP and found themselves stripped of promotion - this is actually possible now with the rules. 3rd place gets promotion!

They’ll be promoted before these accounts are looked at. They’re building for the Premier League and signing players now is brilliant as long as they go up.

  16. We’ve got a bit of luck. We play Sheff Utd a few days after their cup game and we’ll have had a 10 day break. Now let’s win the next 4 and then going out the cup so disgracefully May have a silver lining.

Colback is absolutely awful mate and has a really bad attitude as well. He is basically Newcastle's version of Gabby. Happy to pick up his £50k week at club he claims to support and treats them shockingly and has refused to be a sub a few times this season.

    No thanks to that.

Be not seen much of him lately but he used to be ok. We need another DM IMO someone a lot more mobile than what’s we’ve got.

I agree, we have too many samey one paced midfielders. We wouldnt notice if Lansbury and Thor made way for Lyden and DoyleHayes in the squad, and those funds could then go towards a striker

Thor doesn’t add anything we’d haven’t got. Lansbury decent for me and can get better if we’d pass the ball more. The reverse pass for OHare on Saturday shows he is better further forward he’s not a DM. CF and DM are the weakest spots for me.

Davis is the only youth player that has been forced through necessity. Even then Bruce had other options than Davis. he didn't HAVE to play him. Doyle-Hayes has played one game IIRC? There are 3 DMs ahead of him, why is everybody suddenly so sure Doyle-Hayes should be playing? He didn't drop Grealish for Onomah. Grealish was returning from a big injury. He was rightly eased back in. And even if he did drop him, Onomah is younger than Grealish, so how does that prove he doesn't use young players?

He's regularly played Andre Green, he's claimed he wanted to build the side around Jack Grealish (and even if that claim isn't true he's still played Grealish regularly), he's given game time to Rushian Hepburn Murphy, he's given a debut and game time to Callum O'Hare, he's given a debut to Doyle Hayes, he's signed and played James Bree although he ultimately, rightly lost his place; he's signed Sam Johnstone as his number 1, he's signed Josh Onomah and played him regularly.

    I've probably missed some others.

That's a hell of a lot of youth involvement for someone who "only uses youth as a last resort".

It's just another lazy criticism of the manager, which has little truth to it.
We do have an aging squad, and we could probably use MORE youth, but I think that's a result of our transfer policy at the moment (which will make sense IF we get promoted). Either way, saying Bruce "only uses youth as a last resort" is demonstrably untrue.

Green got in last year through injury. Davis got in through injury. Both grabbed their chance proving given game time our kids can step up. Bree has been treated awfully. Jacks been fully fit for weeks and was dropped. OHare has looked good and deserved at least a place on bench and bringing him on yet he gets dropped all the time from the squad. Doyle Hayes may not be good enough but as with Lyden if you don’t play them you’ll never know. Lyden will leave and i bet in 12 months we’ll say we should’ve give him a chance as is said about Daniel Johnson. You actually made my point for me. Onomah has been given loads of time to adjust and his awful performances have been put down to being a kid yet ours aren’t afforded the same leeway. Hence my OP. Bruce’s treats other youngsters better than ours.
