Tierney has Newcastle all over it. He’ll be closer to his family in Scotland, he can still get to play Champions League and he will get regular minutes.

Meanwhile Targett falls further down the order.

    MAKE THE STATEMENT MARCO!

The longer this goes on the more suspicious I am. I don’t understand why saying goodbye to fans needs to said before announcing your new club ……… unless of course this is still undecided.

Chelsea have reportedly offered Ugarte £40k / week, which is putting the move in doubt.

Hopefully we can swoop in and sign him.

From previous reports this is less than they are paying Chukwuemeka - so no wonder the move is in doubt.

I realised it was a parody account that deleted it lol, one of my mates sent it to me and I’ve had a few already 😂 sorry.

No problem. I would be very surprised if most, if not all, top clubs have not been made aware of the situation.

Do you think we should be starting a separate thread now? 🤣

We finish 7th and he's ours. Who can resist the lure of the Eurototo

Is this the same as John Gregory’s “Inter-galactic cup”?

Some one else will come along.

The finances thing is a smoke screen. We are well run and operate within our means. Yes we make losses every year, but that’s part of the growth plan and something the owners factor in, they lose £30m a year but the VALUE of the club continues to rise at a significantly greater rate. It’s why the owners are billionaires. We do need Europe however (in the next couple of seasons timeframe), the project is a failure without it, and things will get difficult, but it’s a quantum leap for the club financially once there and everything gets a zero added to the end.

    Spot on. Thank you.

But we don’t really know how long we have been expecting to bring him in… didn’t Emery supposedly fly out to somewhere in Jan/Feb for a ‘meeting’… was it with this bloke? We’ll never know obviously... but I think this is bad news for us and sets us back.

I’m not too sure about this but time will tell. We will be able to judge when the summer window closes.

Nothing stopping us executing those plans with someone else. Emery is still the key. He was just a lubricant. We find another one (or use the ones we already have) and move on.

    Meh.

Agree with this. No sensible business develops plans which depend completely on one person only and that person being the sole focus of operation.

    How about....

Alemany wanted to leave for Villa and could see how several players at Barca could fit with our plans.  The news of our interest in Torres broke (I think around the time Alemany was supposed to be at VP?) and Laporte calls Alemany and tells him that he can't sell any players to Villa due to a conflict of interest.  Alemany makes his slightly odd statement in the media about not buying any Barcelona players at his new club.  In the meantime he gives Emery / Lange a list of the players that we should be buying and the prices that would be accepted.  He then "quits" his new job, rejoins Barcelona and can now negotiate with Lange on the players that he wanted us to sign from Barcelona.  Now that he works for Barcelona again - he can negotiate with us and sell us any players he likes and explain to Laporte how it is a good deal to help with their FFP challenges.  We buy 2 or 3 targets over the summer at "market value".  He stays at Barca to see out the rest of his contract and then is free to join whoever he likes at the end of next summer.

It would be pretty unethical - but no worse than Barca have treated many clubs down the years.

Very creative - oh for this to be true. But I won’t be holding my breath.

He had some dirt on him or his puppet Kartz I reckon

Probably true but I do remember something about Bendall wanting his son to take over but son wasn’t interested. Either way we got lumbered with that dead-weight Ellis.

I don't know too much about this, but it sounds as though the club was being financially mismanaged to some degree over our biggest years. Would it be fair to say Ellis was in fact trying to rectify the problems by taking back control?

No it would not be fair so don’t make me laugh. Two points: Ellis had been on the board when some of the problem decisions were taken. Taking back control for Ellis was all about feeding his huge ego - tight financial controls were all about enforcing his personal control.

You're more optimistic now than over the couple of years we swallowed up the League, European & Super Cups?? Bold.

75 to 82 in all fairness was quite a journey , easy to forget how good  the 76/77 side were

The answer is easy; not bold just based on who now runs the club. At that time HDE was manoeuvring in order to “take back control” so any optimism was on hold then finally extinguished when he did return and the brakes put on.

yeah it is an interesting one, 60m for him when we already have Kamara & Dougie. Maybe planning on pushing Dougie up? Or just wanting more depth.

Even stronger links with that. Ugarte will be quite interesting, are we being used by the agent to get Liverpool to pay up?

Could be but is his agent Mendes who has contact with Nassef Sawiris?

Yes but unless Emery signs up to VillaTalk we’re not going to know that until he signs so in the meantime we have to argue between ourselves.

Even if Emery did sign up to VT do really expect him to tell us what he was planning/doing.
