  1. Can't argue with the decision to make them follow on. It is always more likely to be a little more difficult to get a side out second time (exceept it seems when it's England following on). We were a missed stumping from having the top 5 out at stumps last night, just a bit worried how much we will miss Simon Jones if he's unable to bowl today. could proove a tense finish if australia get a lead around 200.

  2. my pc contains 2 sata drives with 160gb and 80gb, and two further ata drives with 80gb each, so that's 480gb of space, they are about 1/2 full of music, video, games etc, but since buying a dvd burner Hard drive capacity isn't anywhere near as important as it used to be, just archive so much to dvd now.

  3. But having played devil's advocate I'd still prefer a chairman who is willing to invest £25 million per season in the side compared to an elderly man who has resided over the least successful period of our club's history!

Sorry Richard, everyone knows i'm one of Ellis' biggest critics, but i don't think that will stand up to anything approaching close examination. The last 10 years have been a case of ever decreasing ambition, or at least the ability to do anything but slowly take villa backwards in a reactionary slumber as his out of date ethos and business practices become less and less suitable for the modern premier league, I understand you may be refering to us being in the third division but though even i have used this as a stick to beat Ellis with, i don't think we can really lay the blame for it at his door alone, the damage had been done over the preceeding decade. Back then he was only one man as part of a proper board.

  4. I'd like southampton to go, because it's nice to know that you just can't defy the natural order of things for ever, any club thats escaped relegation as many times as saints desreves to go eventually. It helps remind you that no matter how long the scum from up the road stay up, you know they are only putting off the inevitable.

West brom have a clearing in the woods of a manager, and that stupid boing boing thing going. but i'd quite like them to stay up so we can both finish above the blose next season, restore the natural footballing order of birmingham and shut the knobheads up.

Crystal palace, I don't really care, but dowie's face scares my kids when he appears on football focus/ match of the day and ex-bloser Johnson adds the only reason to want to see then go, you know he's been infected by his time at the sty, however if palace go, I'd expect johnson to stay in the prem so it's a bit of a flawed arguement.

Norwich - no feelings either way, I know one poster in particular will not be happy with such a viewpoint

so over all not overly bothered who stays up, so long as southampton isn't one of them.

  5. well i'd love to vote i'd give up buying it, but i did quite a few years ago when i suddenly realised how shite it was.

must say i sometimes peek at the website to see what pro blues / anti villa propaganda they are peddling.

  6. JPA does have a point, if in hindsight, that sometimes in order to win a match, you first have to attempt to not lose it. I don't think 4-5-1 would have been by defualt the wrong thing to do, but i also think DOL would have been cucified for using this at home, especially if we would have lost, and lets be honest, we still most likely would have. |I think as the home team the onus is on us to attempt to win and as such his decision to play 4-4-2 shouldn't be critised at all.

  7. no. i pay over £2000 a year to aston villa. isnt it the job of the board to supply transfer funds?

No' i'd say it was the job of the board to find the funding for transfers, not supply it, this is one way of attempting to secure funding, one which you have every right to choose not to support or participate in. Other options could include a price increase.

  8. And why do people vote no, then not explain why, is it just a finacial thing or is there a reason to think t's a bad idea?

My fear as well would be either doug buying up lots of shares (maybe even in share rights at preferencial prices) or maybe even worse petchy taking the opportunity to grab a bigger percentage slice, in petchy's case it may force his hand over where he thinks he can make his profit.

either way i'd like some safeguards against the two biggest shareholders gaining a stronger position within the club. Maybe something along the lines of being limited to a number of shares which would allow them to reatin a similar percentage holding of the company as before the share issue.

  9. also voted yes, would find a way of putting a few £100 in, maybe as much as £500. But it would have to be stonewalled for the benefit of the football side, we bette not see the no oh look we found £13million pound down the back of dougs sofa, ah never mind we've already bought some players from the proceedes of that share issue, lets rebuild the last bit of Ellis park with it.

  10. Just on the offchance that we DO sign someone, then I can leach off the satisfaction that I was part of the small minority that was right!

so do you always back such long odds, your bookmaker must love you.
