  1. Is Clark not suspended?...

    I would go for .....

    ..........................Guzan.........................

    .................Vlaar...........Baker...............

    Lowton........................................Lichaj

    .............Herd.....................Delph..........

    N'Zogbia.............KEA................Ireland

    ..........................Bent............................

Good opportunity to drop Given, give him a kick up the arse. Mind you it is against his old club.

  2. Got an awful feeling we'll be trotting out the 'we tried, but we ran out of time' line of bullshit come Saturday am

We've had all **** summer to get folks in and now with less than 24 hours to go we're up shit creek

And we'll probably end up panic signing some turd like Doyle for 8m or something equally daft because of it

I am going to bed and I will dream that tomorrow we complete the signings of

    Christian Benteke......£7m

    Jordan Bowery...........£600k

    Charlie Adams...........£5.5m

    Yossi Beneyoun.........Season Loan

    Emmanuel Frimpong.....Season Loan

**** I would be happy with that.

  3. From what I have unfortunately read over the past 600 odd pages is that nobody is the wiser about any transactions we will be making over the coming days. Nobody on VT can even confirm what positions we are looking at. Personally I would get shod of Given on his £70kpw.

But the gist over the last week from VTers is .......

    Left back..... Olson/Bennett/Cresswell

    Centre back.... Douglas/Dawson

    Defensive mid....Frimpong/Huddlestone

    Midfield...Adam/Brahimi/Beneyoun/Ince/Phillips

    Strikers....Sturridge/Bendtner/Keisling/Defoe/Doyle

    Did I miss anyone.

Most of these players would improve us. But I feel we need a real midfield destroyer so the attackers can focus on attacking.

Etienne Capoue from Toulouse is one of the best in the business.

This is the sort of understated signing I hope we make in the next few days

  4. Why are man city selling him?

He's 20 and is currently behind 4 other strikers. He's good but still unproven at Premier League level in comparison to Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko. Man City may not be happy to sell but Guidetti no matter how good he is, is facing the possibility of being a bench warmer at City for another 2-3 years which he may not want.

Wouldn't they be better off loaning him again? I'm sure there would be a number of good clubs willing to take him on loan after the season he had in the Netherlands.

Seems like they would be silly to sell him so soon, can't see it myself.

Don't forget Adeybayor who is available on a free aparently!

  5. Ireland playing international football has nothing to do with his grannies or miscarriages. But rather while away on international duty he was held down by four international team mates and his hair plugs were ripped out of his bleeding scalp, personally can't blame him for not going back.

  6. It's quite embarrassing that we have no leaders left.

Someone said earlier they didn't like keepers as captains- tell that to the two European finalists. Given has bags of experience but can't even organise his own defence most of the time. Esp. At set pieces.

Ireland is a good shout, might mature the boy. Lead by example.

  7. From todays express and star

Former Braga boss Domingos Paciencia has emerged as one of the candidates to have expressed an interest in the vacant Aston Villa manager’s job.

The 43-year-old led Braga to the 2011 Europa League final and was most recently in charge of Sporting Lisbon but was sacked by them in February after they fell well behind Benfica in the Portuguese title race.

Paciencia appeared to fit the young and hungry manager profile Villa are looking for and his coaching credentials were recommended to Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner who agreed to consider his application for the job.

However, it is understood by the Express & Star that Paciencia, who managed Porto’s B team while Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club, is some way down the list of prospective replacements for Alex McLeish.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains the favourite for the position and the odds on him taking over at Villa Park tumbled to around 1/8 last night amid rumours on Twitter that the Norwegian had been appointed by the club.
