  1. Per Mr Tanswell's match report...

Torres’ ball progression ranks in the top two per cent of centre-backs in Europe’s top five leagues and is essential to Emery’s desire for Villa to build through the thirds with changes of pace and incisive passes. Another spell on the sidelines could be damaging to Villa’s top four hopes, despite victory on Saturday afternoon.

Obviously ideal, but their attack is the their strength and our defence is our weakness, so it is likely they will score. This game will have goals in it. Score first and we should win.

Taken from Football365 manager rankings (Unai ranked first):

This sums up every Villa fan's experience in recent times very well. I think the reason the losses are so hard to take nowadays is partly because the turn around he has engineered in our fortunes is just so spectacular.

You don't exactly 'expect us to win' because the memories of the suffering are not that deeply buried, but there is a strong sense that everything he offers means there is no logical reason why we should lose!

  4. Ref made that closer than it should have been. Well played Villa and especially Pau.

I gave MotM to Martinez for ensuring we took the three points, but Pau was probably even more deserving than Watkins because he gives us options moving forwards with his composure and passing range. He was excellent.

With all of that said, we can't keep missing easy chances, especially against the teams that 'let us play/give us room'. Overall, much better and encouraging.

Credit to Unai as well, that was an important win.

No way we deserve to lose that.

They literally played like Wimbledon. Their main attacking threat was that prick Maguire.

On another day, 3 or 4 of our chances go in. JJ alone could of bagged a hat-trick.

My only gripe with Unai is Bailey should of stayed on.

To this saying our season is over, get a grip you idiots, we are still top 5, last 16 in Europe, we will hit form again. Hopefully if any of you have tickets for remaining games you can give them to supporters who realise the season don't end in mid Feb.

Yes we did deserve to lose. They scored more goals.
