Be interested to know how the data was collected and the definition of spectator.

    Is it Tv audience?

    Is it attendance?

If it includes both I'd dispute the Eire result for starters

And does Rugby include both codes as one? As I find the Aussie result a tad perplexing too

In terms of actual attendance, marginally more people watch Gaelic Football then Football according to the most recent ESRI report on sport in Ireland (6.1% vs 5.5%), which is in itself a few years out of date (2009). Not bad all things considered.

Of course, in terms of participation, football comes out well on top. In TV viewership, only the largest GAA games (All Ireland Finals & Semi Finals) compare to the big Ireland WC & EC qualification games. When Ireland are actually in a tournament, or more likely are in a play off, they tend to be the most watched TV events of the year.

  2. So on my first night of fourth year college (about 4.5 years ago) we moved into a new house and we'd a bet to see who could christen the house first. I of course wanted to win this bet and did. Brought a girl back, stupidly I left her ring her phone off my phone as she couldn't find it when she was leaving. So she is like texting me for a week after I'm replying to none asking can we meet up etc, it dies down, finally a year and a half later, I'm out with my girlfriend at Christmas who I'm going out with about 6 months (we're still together) she sees me, with my girlfriend, anyway I'm back in my girlfriends I get a text from this one being like oh my god didn't realise we were from the same town, we should totally meet up. I completely ignored it, found out then that I actually do her Dad's accounts, I've had to go down there a few times but never crossed paths thank god, until today. I've to drop something in at half 5 & talk them through it, unfortunately her Dad is in Dublin, it can't wait till Monday as I am finished at half 5, so in 15mins I'm going to have to spend 20 seriously awkward minutes with this girl :(

You're in Kerry, she's probably your cousin as well.

  3. Friday night football is fantastic, nothing better then a game under lights after a weeks work with the weekend still ahead. Obviously if the Premier League cared they'd make it that only games between local teams would be on Friday nights, clearly there's fat chance of that happening.

  4. Game is meant to have online issues. A comment on the Eurogamer review summed it all up, a game called 'The Crew' had to be patched by Ubi on day one to put the 'Crew' into the game. Wtf?

Djamfisher seems a reasonable sort to have a discussion on Anglo-Irish history with.

Nothinhg wrong in lowering myself to your level :-)

    Justice for the 21,

I'm guessing you're too ignorant to know what that refers to though :-)

Sick burn brah, you got me!

I think he is no way a premier league defender, probably no even a championship one. the thing that annoys me most, not just with clark, but most of our 'youngsters' is that they are still referred to as 'youngsters' up until the age of about 25! Clark has had chance after chance and has never ever looked like improving or learning from mistakes.

IMO our excellent youth development is an absolute myth, all we is channel players into league 1 and 2 at 22/23 after realising they are deemed not good enough or 'too small'

Everton for instance, seem to produce 17/18 year olds who look and play like men and ready for the 1st 11, whilst Our Ciaran still looks like a Virgin.

Come off it, he plays semi-regularly for his country, he's obviously better than League One standard. If we do get relegated, he'll probably look amazing.

Have you seen the standard of player ROI have had to call up recently.

When you are forced to call up English players on the regular you are in trouble, when you are calling up English players the standard of David McGoldrick, then you are done.

Except of course McGoldrick was very good last night.

No doubt the ingerlund neanderthals will be looking forward to Dublin in June.

Probably as much as the Irish neanderthals.

Somehow I think if there is any trouble next June in Dublin, it'll all be coming from one side....
