  1. I've just spent a week in Switzerland with a Liverpool fan (among our ski group) - who has confirmed entirely everything we assume of them.

When I told him I dislike Liverpool more than any other club he couldn't understand it, claiming Liverpool are "the most likeable club in the league". He denied Luis Suarez was racist, despite the evidence. He reckons Dalglish is an excellent manager, despite his shit record. He even tried to say Downing is doing a great job there.

He was a decent enough bloke though, when the conversation was not on football.

    :lol::lol:

Summed them up in the main there, mate.

Hope we do them on Tuesday, would be quite wonderful

  2. Danny O'Brien, right winger. Apparently suprisingly not offered a new deal by Everton but that seems to be down to a change in management at academy level.

That's him. Good player. The academy manager has changed and with that there has been a change in philosophy and the junior sides have changed formation which put Danny out of the team. A fair few I thought would get scholars haven't and we've brought in a few others.

Danny is skilful and quick with a good delivery. Short clip below, he is number 4.

  3. I believe, unless something drastically happens to change it, that you've signed a player from EFC u16s who it seems wasn't given a scholarship. To be honest, I am a little surprised as he is a pretty good player but he has found himself out the team a bit recently due to a change in formation. Good luck to him anyway.

  4. You have so many injuries so regularly though that it must be something that you are doing with your training or medical staff. It can't just be luck because it happens every year with you lot.

Or maybe they just want to stay at home to guard their houses? :winkold:

    It's called overexertion.

Tiny squad = players playing with injuries = injuries get worse = squad even smaller = players rushed back from injuries = injury recurrences.

  5. 17th overall pick by real salt lake! His agent was flabbergasted he was so low, but thought him being a foreigner counted against him.

We do however think its a great fit for him! They play the right way and are great people from what I hear. So well done to the lad.

Posting off the blackberry, will post more later.

So were Taylor Twellman and Alexi Lalas!

RSL seems a perfect fit for him as well. Ives Galarcep has been waxing lyrical about him and basically says it is criminal he was drafted so low and that RSL got THE steal of the draft.

    Congrats to him :)

  6. Well, we are playing poorly at the moment but we are being stretched to the limit with injuries.

Already with the smallest squad in the league, we have Spurs tomorrow with 6 of our usual starting 11 out injured:

    Jagielka

    Hibbert

    Coleman

    Osman

    Cahill

    Rodwell

add Barkley to that list too.

Fellaini is playing with an injury but is currently our only fit central midfielder. Neville and Heitinga can play there but are needed at CB and RB unless Moyes plays a kid and pushes one of them forward.

That means one of Drenthe (breathes out his backside after 10 minutes), Bilyaletdinov (confidence is shot), or Donovan will probably have to play CM.

Really not looking forward to this week, to be honest.

Though, the FA appointing Mark Clattenburg for this match has fired us blues right up :)

  7. think Everton are a lot worse than us, without Arteta they seemed to struggle and dont think have a player close to his level left. Beckford gone puts a lot of pressure on Saha staying fit and Cahill to score who hasnt scored in league since january.

Royston Drenthe is average and still living off his 2007 Euro under 21 performances

We had a better win percentage last year when Arteta didn't play than when he did, to be fair.

We have goals in us still and young Ross Barkley is creative force but I'm loathe to put pressure on him.

If anyone can get the best out of players Moyes can so I'm reserving judgment, as I will with the Argie guy who looks like Tevez after being on the rack for a while.

Wouldn't shock me if this has been on the cards for ages, wouldnt be the first time either. He certainly didnt look like a man who "forced" his way out of the club on the video that was put up on Everton TV this morning. In fact he looks like he is close to tears.

Sad to see him go, particularly to another Premier League club but I wish him only good things for the future.

  8. Guillem Balague said on twitter that depending on what happens with Houllier, Benitez and Sanchez Flores are both on the "list". He says Quique Sanchez Flores doesn't know anything about Aston Villa but suspects he would like to manage in the Premier League at some point. Benitez has received numerous offers but is "waiting for the right one".

Guillem Balague knows **** all about anything. He's barely, if ever, accurate when he's talking about the spanish league nevermind the prem. Can't imagine he has any contacts inside Villa.

He has some contacts, I know for a fact he is friendly with Rafa Benitez. He also called everything in the Torres move straight from the off when nobody believed him. He also said Arteta was going nowhere last year when everyone was convinced he was leaving.

Sure, he's probably off with some things but football changes in a matter of moments, one minute can be on, one minute can be off. I'm pretty sure he would know more than me and you..

  10. Moyes chooses who comes and goes at Everton, if Rodwell leaves it will be with his blessing. Reiterated publically by CEO at EFC fans conference 10 days ago.

He also believes we have someone in the same position as Rodwell coming through who is just as good, if not better. Just saying :)

So therumours about him HAVING t osell and not getting the money to replace are wrong then? - don't think so 'judy'

Did I say that? No, confirmed by our CEO "any transfer budget will come from player sales only" , plenty of other players leaving in the summer anyways. He will get money from that.

Most other Prem teams in same position, just don't wanna make it public :winkold:

  11. baines can't defend for shit. luke young is far more solid.

He's a far better defender than people give him credit for.

Baines was brought up a Liverpool fan by his dad but didn't really care. When he was a teenager his cousin dragged him along to Everton games and they used to sneak in after kick off to watch for free, made him Everton fan. Simple as that.

  13. Moyes said this just the other day:

“It’s not fashionable now to be in a job for nine years. It’s more fashionable for supporters to see a change, so I’m very fortunate.

“I’ve always said I wouldn’t want the supporters to get fed up of me because at the end of the day it’s their football club, it’s not mine. I’m there to do the job and try and do it to the best of my ability.

“If I got the feeling they were fed up with me then I’d do something about it. But I don’t at the moment, I still see it as one of the biggest clubs in England, and I’m really thrilled to be manager of the club.”

Most of the fans I know are still behind him (and will be gutted when he leaves) and blame Kenwright over anyone for our problems. There are some who are against him but there is always some fans who he'll never win over - same with pretty much every manager though.

  14. For such a nothing game your fans were pretty pleased when you scored. Every game against us must be a nothing game then because Everton's support, while decent in numbers, is always extremely quiet and when you do sing - you only have two variations of the same song.

Apart from that, I agree with the rest of your post.

Yes, we obviously only have 2 variations of the same song...lol

We always celebrate like that when we score as well :?

I said we're quiet unless it's a big game (or an incident in the game that gets us fired up), e.g. a derby game or Utd/City, or important game, i.e. one that secures PL safety or Europe etc. One thing you have to remember also is that at Goodison the sound doesn't travel all that well, for example, the noise your fans made could have sounded very loud to you but down at the Gwladys St I can barely hear most of the away fans that come.

I'm ever so sorry that we didn't sing to your satisfaction, even though Villa Park is obviously a cauldron of noise *puts on tin hat*.

I have to say, your fans were better than previous seasons but not as loud as some others that have come to Goodison this season (though I do sit the other end of the ground). That honour, begrudingly (as much as I dislike their fans - intensely that is) goes to Newcastle.

  15. It was a nothing game for us, got nout to play for so why you expect the fans to be loud? Our fans (as with most of the Prem) only "get up" for big or important games.

Beckford's shot was over the line, should have been given but linesman wasnt in a good position.

Jagielka made the most of the challenge but your guy was stupid to even hang a leg out, but bout time we got a pen this season after having other shouts not given.

Draw was probably fair on overall play, though thought we had the better chances.

Oh, and one last thing, you're players argued just as much with the referee as our players did...:winkold:

Good luck for the rest of the season.

  16. I don't agree with a chunk of what he says, to be honest, Then again, I don't seem to agree with many Everton fans on anything. Amount of times I come back thinking I've watched a different game than people on forums and twitter, etc.

    What would you disagree with?

Is that why you spend so much time on a Villa site?? Over a 1,000 posts a year to a site for a team that you don't follow is huge. Do you do you do this with any other site/team?

Well, for a start our first 3 games were Blackburn A, Wolves H and you A, not Man Utd and Newcastle.

I disagree about his opinions on some of our players and I definitely disagree with what he says about Moyes.

Yes, cos I'm on here all the time aren't I? I've barely been on here at all this season and when I post it is mainly in the other football forum, or general chat. I came on here years ago to pass on thanks for your support at the game as they warmly received some disabled teams that came on the pitch during half time of a game against you. I was warmly welcomed and encouraged to come back. I don't go around causing hassle and arguing with people. I come on and try and give my honest opinion on things from an different perspective. Don't worry, after tomorrow I'll disappear again.
