  1. I see Tim Vickery isn't a fan of Romiro Funes Mori who signed for Everton.

"I would love to be wrong about Ramiro Funes Mori. But the only really good thing I can say about him is that language is not going to be a problem. That's important for defenders, because defending is nothing if it's not collective. When Argentina's economy tanked in 2001, Mori's family relocated to Dallas, Texas. He grew up there and speaks very good English as a result.

"He's left-sided, and he can play left-back as well. But I don't think he has the quality, the physicality or the pace to survive in the Premier League."

    Ouch.

Tim Vickery said Coutinho would be awful and not make it in the Premier League.

I'd rather judge him for myself  before writing him off.

For the person who asked about Balanta, Funes Mori has taken his place in the River Plate team for the last 18 months, that's where he has gone...

  2. Palace are overrated for me. It was a small section of the ground making noise and it kind of just fell into the background to background noise. I much prefer waves of sound from fans, I believe it's more intimidating to opposition players too.

In terms of my own experiences following Everton around last season, I'd say Leicester's were the best but they don't half do some cringy chants and the drum/goal music automatically takes them down considerably....

I'm going to think this through and get back to you though :)

  3. Chelsea bid 25 mill for stones and everton reject it.Redonkulous

Don't know why they are turning that down, he isn't that good

I've seen every single game he has played for us, and I beg to differ. He is one of the best I've seen play for us and I've been going over 20 years now.

If it was up to me, I'd sell every single other first team player at the club before him.

  4. Is John Stones really that good?

The game end of last season when we won 3-2, he just looked another Phil Jones to me, loads of hype but when you break down his game he's really nothing special so bit bemused all the top 4 are after him.

I like Barkley though, poor season no question but plenty for top clubs to work with there.

He is very, very good. He has everything. He is still young so prone to mistakes and usually costly given his position but he is absolutely brilliant. Plus everything I've seen and heard, he is a really great guy off the pitch too.

Barkley is in for a big season. Massively disappointing last season. This season will basically be the indicator of where his career is going...

  5. Gotta say Garbutt looked absolute garbage in the U21s tournament. Hope there's nothing in these rumours,

Anyway why should we play a rubbish player with no prem experience on the off chance he may turn good and them send him back to Everton?

Rather give Bennett another chance, hes no worse than Garbutt and at least Bennett puts in a much better cross. How many crap deliveries did Garbutt put in during the u21s, good grief reminded me of De La Cruz and his attempts at crosses

Shame you are only judging him on that tournament when every single player underperformed for England.

    His delivery is usually excellent.

  6. To be fair Sherwood did too.

    Never said he didn't?

I'm more pointing it out to the people who said he wouldn't be effective in how we play. Martinez knows him well and will have an idea how he wants him to fit in.

  7. Martinez is one person who knows how to get the best from Tom Cleverley. The whole Everton team didn't play to their ability or potential last season, if they play like they can he should fit in fine.

  8. There is no point in engaging someone in a debate if they consider false 'facts' to be the truth and ignore the actual facts including those of the people there, who have admitted lying to cover their own backs.

  9. I think he will definitely be chopped in the summer. Anyone think we could see a manager swap between the two Liverpool teams?

Didn't Martinez turn Liverpool down before.

Only if you believe Dave Whelan. Liverpool were adamant he wasn't offered it.

Been a few private events and Martinez has been directly asked about this on a few occasions (and Villa btw!) - each time he has said the same thing, he has received numerous offers from clubs in PL and abroad while at Wigan but none 'felt' right.

  10. Our fans are shit most of the time but can hardly get ourselves up to sing when we perform that poorly on the pitch.

Anyway, Everton, I don't understand why Barkley was on the bench?

    Neither do I!!

  11. I can only echo what the opening poster says.

You thoroughly deserved that result yesterday, and the end scoreline flattered us.

I think Martinez made an error changing the team from last week but no point dwelling on that when we are soundly beaten.

Well done and good luck for the rest of the season, and the cup final.

  12. Martinez has wanted him for a long, long time as he sees him as a long term successor to Leon Osman.

We'll see what happens in the summer as I think we will be far from the only teams in for him.

  13. Our fans are shit most of the time but can hardly get ourselves up to sing when we perform that poorly on the pitch.

That speedo fella has been at nearly every game of ours this season, he does charity swims like across the channel and that and it is his way of promoting himself for sponsors etc.

  14. Good to have you back AG, i think it will be a tight game, 2-2

Surprised I can still remember my password.

I've noticed we've made a minor formation switch in our recent games, and it appears to be working.

I'll go for an entertaining draw, 2-2 ;)

  15. lack of pace? Really? Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines, Lennon, McCarthy, Barkley, Mirallas and Lukaku are not what I'd call 'lacking pace'...

Anyway, we've not played that great lately but have been keeping clean sheets and picking up wins. We look a lot more solid at the back and dangerous when counter attacking. Coming off the back of our best league performance of the season, it really wouldn't surprise me if we lost to yourselves next week.

Believe you'll stay up regardless but yeah, as always looking forward to my trip to VP

  16. Cant believe how thin our squad is when Stones is our first choice reserve centre back. He has played 15 games for Everton this year and I'd guess less than 5 of those he played CB.

Cant say I have seen loads of him but in the few games I have seen he looks tidy but nothing spectacular.

No. He has played all his games at CB apart from two. He has also played more than 15 games.

He is brilliant and plays very much in the style of a young Rio Ferdinand. Can't believe he is only 19.

He makes mistakes occasionally because he likes to come out from the back and pass it out, but he is still young and he'll learn.

Despite his inexperience, I'd have him over Jones and Smalling every single day of the week.

  17. You still hanging around here AG?

Thought you'd have been locked up for stalking Spanish footballers by now :P

Haha, I pop in every now and again  ;)

Not yet, you didn't mention restraining orders though....  ;)
