Oh, come on, he was not dropped, he is just 4th ref next week. Mike Jones was 4th at Arsenal game. Someone must do it.

by the way, have Manchester United had so many fans in England in the 70's, 80's (generally before SAF era)?
They have been the most popular club in England for a long time, probably going back to the 50s and the Busby Babes. They benefited from a wave of public sympathy following the airplane crash which killed most of their first team and also from having British football's first superstar player in George Best. I think even during the era of Liverpool dominance (which was probably comparable to the level of dominance Barcelona have had over Europe in the last five or six years) United were getting 10,000 more people through the gate at Old Trafford than Liverpool were getting at Anfield.
Obviously the level of armchair supporters they have gained has gone through the roof since the formation of the Premier League, but Manchester United have sold out every week for fifty or sixty years. It's not like Chelsea who were getting gates of 12-15k for home games as recently as the mid 1990s.
Oh, thanks, mate for clearing that up. As a matter of fact, i found interesting stats, that confirm your words.

What has he done for people to be concerned about his attitude?
He looks like Taarabt and smoked a shisha.

When was the last time any team kept the same kit two years in a row?
Arsenal this season, Liverpool 2010 - 12, from the top of my head.

Thought the deadline was today too
The deadline was never released, neither was the amount that we want.
The Press Release from Brian Doogan said something to this effect: 'For Benteke to leave, we need to have our valuation met in a timeframe we have set'.
"Having received his transfer request, we have also informed him that should we receive an offer within an appropriate timeframe during pre-season which meets our valuation we would act upon it. But he will remain a Villa player should this not happen."

Gonzalo Higuain signs for Arsenal. Good signing for them. They needed at least another striker. I wonder if they will get Rooney like they want to. Arsenal can be a very good team next season.
Is it official? I don't see confirmation anywhere.

well, well, well, that Al Jazira's chairman is no other than Sheikh Mansour, owner of Man City.

Are we still discussing this? I read 6 days ago that we are no longer interested in Belhanda because they want €15 million for him. Plus Arsenal and Spurs are apparently interested so no way he chooses us over them.
Chelsea was interested in Okore and look what happened...

Have a look at Jakub Kosecki of Legia Warsaw on YouTube. 22 years old. Attacking midfielder. 9 goals in 23 games. Somebody will be in for this lad.
Nooo, definitely not! Too lightweight, not good enough for us. Very overrated player (his father is politician and big figure in Polish football).

Just out of curiosity, are there any other PL clubs besides Villa that have yet to reveal their new kit?
Many.

It's interesting that everyone in Poland seems to think we've massively overpaid for Tonev. Although that doesn't really concern me because about 3-4 clubs wanted him and, as a result, that was the going rate for him. As for his wages, sadly that's just the way it is in England. One way or another he is going to want some sort of parity with the other players.
If he's the second highest transfer fee received in Polish history and not considered the best footballer in Poland, I think it would be expected for Polish fans to think we overpaid.
Of course, as far as a PL club is concerned, unless the player in question is me, I don't think it's possible for 3 millionish pounds to be overpaying.
He's second most expensive footballer transferred from Polish league to Premier League (there weren't many such cases unfortunately). Lewandowski is the most expensive player transferred from Polish league in general.
Spoony, thank you for kind words, mate

Article about Tonev in one of the best, popular and controversial (these guys always write what they think) sites about Polish league.
http://www.weszlo.com/news/15205-Aleksandyr_Tonew_rzucony_na_gleboka_wode_Utonie_czy_sie_wybije
Main thoughts are:
- Transfer fee for Tonev is 3,2 mln euro and is the second most expensive footballer transferred from Polish league to PL (first is Fabianski)
- Some pundits here in Poland compared him with Gareth Bale (which, in the eyes of the author, is big exaggeration)
- His wages will increase from 150 thous. euros to 1,2 mln.
- Author says that it is great business for Lech. They will earn approx. the same amount of cash as for Rudnevs, who was top goalscorer in Polish league (he was sold to Hamburger SV). When it comes to statistics, Tonev isn’t anywhere near him.
- Tonev contract with Villa has many interesting clauses, f.e. he will earn more money, when Villa will beat any of the top 6 clubs.
- Author reckons that this may be too deep water for Tonev, BUT in England, there’s no better club for him than Villa (examples of Bowery, Lowton). Tonev was criticised for taking shots from every position or for running like a headless chicken.
- Agent Marcin Lewicki says that Villa wanted a guy who can shoot from distance. Tonev can do that with two feet, but he must work on his strength.
Thats all. Sorry for possible grammar mistakes!

Hi!
My name is Jacek, i'm from Poland. I'm 27 years old and i'm a Villa fan since 10/11 season (although i've always liked this club ). My other interests include heavy metal music, English football generally, ice hockey and playing baseball.
Cheers!
