  1. Some are far too critical on here!?!?

i think we've been positive and tried to take the game to them!!!

Bruce hasn't even had 5 training sessions with his players and people are expecting an instant change!!!

i think we've looked to go forward at every opportunity, Kodjia passes to McCormack and we go in 2-1!!!

I genuinely believe it's the difference between Jack and a fair other young English players, there's more than a fair few of them that like to man about town it but their clubs control the stories, are people suggesting grealish is out of control and throwing his career away but Saint Jack Wilshere is still England's saviour? Big clubs and agents of these players sweep trouble under the carpet

look at how fergie ran the Utd press office for years, if the mail ran a shite article about one of their golden boys having a shandy fergie wouldn't even throw them the bones for the next couple of months so they didn't, they keep negative stories out of the papers, do people seriously believe rashford spends his Saturday nights practicing his shooting in his back garden?

John Cross was on TalkSport and said the same, journos were scared of being barred from the big clubs so they would change articles, not release certain stories etc because being barred from an elite team press conference was unquestionably!

he told a story of a top manager (didn't say who) that said if a certain story was published regarding one of his players, he would ban that paper from press conferences for the rest of the season!

Villa are an easy target at the moment

I don't even think he's done anything wrong this time (I tend to take any online news with a triple helping of salt) - except not understanding that he's not the average UK 21-old. He's had media focusing on him previously (apparently passed out drunk on the road on holiday, doing hippy crack etc) - I'd just expect him to wise up and avoid unwanted media attention. I cannot fathom how he hasn't yet understood that he needs to stay out of the limelight when off the pitch.

    That's fair enough mate.

the fact that he was In a hotel room maybe suggests he might be learning to stay out the public eye.

The media rats will do and create anything for a story

I think why people, and rightly or wrongly so it is subjective, get the hump is that a lot  of people on these pages pay jack grealish's wages every week. His obscene wages i might add, like all top footballers are. So if grealish is in a team that's getting tanked 4-0 at Everton and a team that's well off the pace in the championship and going out on an all nighter it pisses me off. Again I've no objection to the fact he was out till 3 am, its the lads b'day, its the fact he does the dog on it. its early season and to be honest Jack you are in a team that ain't tearing up trees lets be honest . If people are pissed off, well they pay his and the rest of the  underperforming villa squads wages.

It's a "round in circles" argument. Sky Sports most probably pay his wages etc etc. Regardless, nobody has the right to "expect" anything from him.

I know what your saying and I understand how some will see it, but I still don't get what he's done wrong???

I'm expecting him to be acting as the professional he's supposed to be. At least during the season, but preferably for the remainder of his time with Villa.

So by that you expect him to not have a drink etc. Until next summer once the seasons over??

you do realise law states people are allowed time off from work? Surly you don't really expect ALL footballers not to have a drink or night out and be in bed for 10pm throughout the season???

And it's good to know the brum Mail contacted Ian Holloway to ask him his opinion...

another headline from someone with no association with the club who hasn't got a clue as going on

imho the club has failed again not so much in controlling grealish but in controlling a fairly nothing story snow balling in to something which is out of proportion

    Bravo sir

That's hardly a fair comparison, is it? There's umpteen people working for Google in some way or another. Those in top positions and known to the world-wide public (whoever they might be) would gain the attention of any click-bait media whenever they put a foot wrong, and they must know it - and act accordingly. Their average Joe wouldn't attract any attention at all, even though he might be absolutely brilliant at his job.

In those terms, Jack is one of the top (well, in the top 20 or thereabouts) employees at a well-known company trying to cope with a media circus. He's not an average young adult.

I wouldn't say he's in a shit situation. But if he makes the wrong decisions, it may be. His choice.

I agree that he should be allowed to have a life and enjoy himself  in his free time. But he has chosen a profession that limits his freedom during the season, both in terms of not attracting unwanted media attention and in terms of being able to perform at the top of his ability.

A professional footballer should be allowed to do what he wants in his free time as long as he's fit for work on Monday morning? Really? I mean: REALLY?

Fair do my friend, didn't word that correctly!

in the context that if he's given time off, as long as he reports back for duty alcohol free and ready to train etc. I don't see what the issue is?

i still ask the question, what exactly has he done wrong?

  8. Can't get my head around why people expect pro footballers to live a nuns life!?!?

the fact that people expect them not to go out and enjoy their life like everyone else in the world is entitled to do is completely barmy!!!

do some on here actually realise what they're expecting?? Your saying that because he's a pro footballer he's not allowed to enjoy his free time with a beer? He's not allowed to go on holiday in the close season with his mates and get leathered? He's meant to be on duty representing the club 24hrs a day 365 days a year?

thats absolutely ridiculous!!! And the people saying he should be sacked etc. need to wake up!! Long and short of it is that he's had some beers in a hotel room with some mates IN HIS FREE TIME and caused too much noise!!!

he works, pays his tax and NI and can enjoy his time off like the rest of us. Can't see what's so hard about that?

if you think he's not allowed to enjoy himself because he's a footballer who gets paid well and should always be on duty......you need to take your head out your arse!!!

Totally missing the point. He represents Aston Villa - a world renowned football club. He has thousands of young kids that look up to him and see him as a hero.  This is the third idiotic incident in the space of a year and a half when he is still way way off being the finished article. He isn't even that good.

Personally couldn't give a shit if the club sacked him. He clearly isn't going to learn or appriecate what a privilege position he is in one that thousands dream of.

I hear you mate, but I think your missing my point...

thats like you working for Google (a world renowned mega company) and them telling you that you can't get pissed on your day off because you may cast a bad light on the company?

Yes kids look up to him, but it should be when he's on the pitch. So if he goes to a bar for a pint with his dad, will the kids think "Jack drinks beer...lets do it" if that's the case then what a sorry state of affairs.

what exactly has he done wrong? If he gets grief for having a party with his mates in his time off then I can only say, what a shite situation to be in!

yes he is in a great position doing what only we can dream of, but he IS still allowed to have a life and enjoy himself in his free time.

Same as us all, do what you want in your free time just as long as your fit for work on Monday morning.

He didn't ask for an audience to show the world, just trying to mind his own and have a good time....thus why it was out the way in a hotel room and not in a bar in Brindley Place

  10. Storm in a tea cup imo! Outside work time enjoying himself....how dare he!!! Why is he not allowed to have a drink or enjoy himself?

Apparently the hotel complained direct to the club, my guess is it's a case of "we know you weren't trashing a room like a rockstar but we have to publicly tell you off to show we've followed up the complaint"

blown out of proportion by the media and some on here. The kid had a party in a hotel room and caused a bit too much noise.....so what? Surely he is actually allowed to enjoy himself? Or are the players on 24hr call?

like the story when he was pissed ON HIS HOLIDAYS!!! How dare he get leathered while on holiday with his mates!?!?

I think, in light of a manager giving Gabby a 4 year contract on his way out.....The Dr presumed, I will deal with this one myself.

There are certain times when delegation is not always the best policy.

    Agreed

let's not forget he IS the boss who is viewing a member of staff not fit for purpose (which 2/3 of us agree with)

as for outing him in public so far as to say 'he's not good enough and should find another job', so what? He hasn't been derogatory in anyway, just honest

Dunno, Fernandes to me always came across like a bloke who thought he could use QPRs boardroom as a place to impress people when doing air Asia deals, he seemed to think all his other businesses would expand on the back of the premier league ties so QPR not making money would be balanced out (he was quite open about that in interviews)

if im honest I still don't see what the docs masterplan is, I don't fully understand how we benefit him, be it expanding his existing business west or because of the Chinese governments directives will he be getting some golden hand shakes in the east

the openness with fans stuff I see but business model and reasons for buying a football club I don't

In short imo, because we ARE a sleeping giant (not being biased because I'm a fan), stadium, training ground, fan base, once one of the Europe elite etc...for what he paid for the club against potentially what it could be worth with the new tv deals etc. As a business man (him not me), the profit potential is astonishing!! Lerner had the same idea imo and almost got there when O'Neill was in charge but didn't have the balls/love/money to finish it

  13. Very good transfer window for us, brought the players needed to get us up, the only worry/concern being that 'if/when' we do get promoted, another overhaul of players will be required to keep us in the Prem?!?! (Not my problem, if it's financially viable then it will happen)

im assuming the club realise that anothe shed load of money will be required to keep us in the Prem as and when we get promoted.

on the gabby thing, from the outside looking in everyone will see 'mega wages/sitting on a contract etc.'

I can't see him featuring but I hope that if he is truly a Villa fan he genuinely wants to prove everyone wrong and fight for the club he loves!

guess we will have to wait and see....

I'm also gutted, but I think the people who lumped hundreds of pounds on it due to the info are even moreso gutted than us. Lol

I honestly think on his day he is head and shoulders above anyone in our league, I truly think he has the potential to be a top player in the Prem

if he can fulfil his potential is a different story altogether...

Basically Villa Southerner got what seemed to be rock solid info he would be signing today, even opened a new thread. Only for Tony to come out and say it's a complete no goer. It seems whoever gave Villa Southerner the info got him mixed up with Kodija, the striker we signed today.

    Fair enough mate :thumb:

gutted as I still think he's got a load to offer, was hoping we would maybe benefit from it

I just don't like our owner saying we were going to sign a world class player when we had no intention of doing so. We were intending to go after Abel Hernandez instead. I wouldnt care so much if I hadn't got excited about it.

At least we know to take what the doc days with a pinch of salt.

Apparently Hernandez was all done but he changed his personal demands at the last minute which collapsed the deal
