I like this. If Heskey is playing, one of them might deflect one of his shots on target!

General Krulak here:
1. I am going to say something as a Fan, not as a member of the Board...of course the media cannot seem to tell the difference. I spent 35+ years in the Marine Corps and went to war three times. Now I know the Forces are not football so please bear with me. When my Marines put on their uniforms and the emblem of the Corps and went into battle and things got tough, the did not fight for their Commander, they fought for their brothers-in-arms...the men wearing their uniform and emblem. When a player puts on a kit and wears the Club badge, I would expect the same. We have VERY good lads who know how to play with passion. We have all seen them do it and have cheered them on. They are professionals who have given 110% in many games. What we need now is to quit pointing fingers and everyone look at the Claret and Blue of our kit and the badge they are wearing and go out and kick the crap out of the next teams we play until the end of the season!!! That may seem simplistic but that is how I have been raised. At the end of the day, they are on the Pitch and they can do it....do it for the uniform on their backs and the badge on their breast and the Fans in the stands! That is how I feel in my heart. I believe they can do it! YOU all can help by cheering them on...let them know that they represent a great and glorious Club. UP THE VILLA.
In this paragraph you have put across a strength of feeling that GH simply does not have for this club. Perhaps you should visit the dresing room before the games?
Our last home game is against Liverpool. We may have to win it to stay up. Can the club seriously consider the allowing the potential scenario whereby we are relegated by a team whom our manager loves more than our own?
I like to think that Villa fans are generally good people, but I fear serious trouble at this game if things pan out as they could. The fans HATE Houllier, and these emotions could overspill into something more at home across the City. And that would be bad for everyone.

General,
I am sure that you do not only read your threads on the various sites, and will have picked the strength of feeling on other threads about GH. Surely there is the need, given the 2 week break, for a senior person at the club to make a statement on GH's future because the uncertainty, if that is what remains, will be counter-productive to our current crisis.
Thanks for your hard work, and for communicating with the fans. I am sure that it seems like a thankless task, but I can promise you, it is very much appreciated.

Paul Lambert deserves a chance. Either that or I'd take a punt on Benitez.
100% agree with point 1.
10000000% disagree with point 2!

He's not 20 until next month, so an U21 call up is a good achievement. Well done to the lad.

Like I said, I think a red was viable but I think a yellow would have been given if it wasn't for the reactions of Blackburn. We've seen much worse challenges go unpunished at VP.

this guy is quality, and should play for us for the next 15 years
-
He will be a quality centre half, and is quite comfortable on the ball and his distribution is pretty good, and will improve. He needs to builk up a bit, but he is young and people get the 'man strength' at different times.
-
Quality - the guy has just leapt in my opinion
-
1. MON - he left us in the shit, with poor players earning a fortune
2. GH - he just ain't got it anymore
3. Players - there are some who appear to not be helping the club out whilst earning a fortune
4. Randy - a small amount of blame, as there was no succession planning, and he hasn't taken control in the current situation; but who could have done more for us over recent years?
-
Limited options this month, but got things wrong both in terms of personel and tactics
-
This is a good thing.
We needed experience at the top, given the lack of football experience at board level and with the lack of managerial experience of our (excellent) coaches.
He is respected within the game, and will ensure that the Villa name is well regarded in football circles.
And he is a good manager in my opinion.
-
He ain't the worse, but only becuase there is a lot of shite in there with some good 'uns.
In no order - Heskey; Routledge; Salifou; Agathe; Sutton.
There was also some that looked OK but didn't work - Shorey, Carson, Sidwell, Maloney.
However, in terms of money and benefit - he is just shit.

Staggering the amount of negative people on here. Then i really don't think it would matter who was appointed as some would still find some way of turning it into a negative so i guess with Houllier's age, former heart problem & consequential loss of form at Liverpool it merely makes him an easy target for the "ink bullies".
Don't get me wrong i understand just how much this means to us all but for me it is time to accept the difficult predicament the club found itself in & move forward with positivity & focus on all the good in this situation.
If it is GH then we can rest assured that Randy & co must have seen him as the best option & therefore, as i trust their judgement, i will trust he is the best guy for the job at this time. So what are the positives?
1. By all accounts his tenure at Liverpool was split into 2 halves. The 1st half before his heart problems was fantasic. He won the treble etc & made good signings mainly. The 2nd half, after his heart problem was poor but was that really any suprise? The guy had serious problemss for goodness sake.
2. He is now over his health problems so surely we would be getting more of an "early period" liverpool manager which would be awesome.
3. His age for me is a bonus as he will need every ounce of experience coming into this particular situation. Also he will be the perfect guy for KM to learn from at close quarters.
4. His style in the way he likes setting up strong foundations for youth development etc would seem to be perfect for us.
5. He's a proven winner which none of the other candidates are. Neither are Moyes or Jol in the Premiership.
6. His style of play would suggest he would be able to utilise the current squad to it's full capacity.
This seems about right for me

Happy Birthday General, sir!
On the piss m'lud?

2. GavLa80: Beating the small heath 5-1 was my most memorable game to date. I watched almost the entire game from the Holte End...I didn't have a seat so I had to stand at the very top (yes, I know, I did a bad thing!!) I was surrounded by rabid Villa Fans and we had a ball...a great day.
Quality!

I hope the tests go well, and that you are back over here again as soon as is possible.
You are doing a fantastic job, and I wouldn't change the management team at Villa for all the oil money in the world.
PS: I haven't got a final ticket, and won't get one becuase I haven't got a season ticket or been to enough games - so I don't deserve one. A few years ago, I had a season ticket and went to 2 Wembley finals, and it was a privilege, not a right.
-
Milner has let Gabby have his second goal, and has donated his first goal to Heskey. Because he can.
-
Last night was mental, but Tranmere was so tense because we were almost out of it so often! Oh, and I'm 35 so nostalgia rules!
-
Dunne, Milner, Cuellar.
-
Wow, a very threadbare list. And the left wing position seems to be a one man show.
Has to be Milner - done well for 2 1/2 years of the decade, whereas Solano only did 18 months; and didn't give much of a shit at the end (IMHO).
-
Go on then, Merse. But I hate having to pick between those 2.
-
Taylor - every team needs a heart. Barry and Merse may be the best 2 on the list, but Taylor would make it a better team!
-
I am starting to worry, but he is a top man and we would get no-one even close to his calibre. I think we need to manage our own expectation and take pride in the club conducting transfers properly (unlike Man Shitty).

The man is a nut-case. He might, one day, turn out to be a genius, but what is the liklihood, and at what cost. Ship him out, and off the wage bill as soon as possible.
