  1. James Collins  you smoking rotterdams finest.

a back 4 including Collins was shit 5 season ago don't you remember.  Ki has a very high opinion of him self when it comes to wages. And why would long leave Southampton.

  2. Net spend vs losses xFFP=money available. Read the above report.?

Not defending him but to say he has been bleeding us dry is just wrong.

I agree though we are where we are because he slammed the brakes on. However we didn't have a lot of choice due to FFP and could sustain losses like we were season upon season

He has bleed us dry for 6 years to try and recoup the money he pissed up the wall

No he hasn't ! A very good read about our finances but disproves the myth peddled by some Lerner has been bleeding us dry to cover his losses. Still don't let the facts get in the way of your opinion/own agenda

"dismal performance off the pitch with the club bleeding money through some hefty losses, financed by the American owner Randy Lerner pumping vast sums of money into Aston Villa"

Yes he was. He was never as bad as veretout

Nice bit of (typical) revisionist history when referring to Petrov. He was shockingly bad and ineffectual at times in his first season and couldn't last more than 60 mins. He also had some cracking moments. Took him time to adapt.

    Yes

Errmmm don't think he was. Let's not rewrite history just because of his unfortunate illness. Take a look through the early pages of his thread. Petrov was a marmite player, you either rated him or not until his illness then he became a legend.

Seen a few posts mention the club is rotten to the core and needs over hauling. Do they include (Job for life)  Cowans in their assumptions or does he get a pass ? Not a loaded question or dig at anyone just genuinely interested. I like him but he has been part of the set up during these arduous years and maybe it's time to really shake up the whole back room staff and get rid of him and McDonald ? Tin hat ready

(PS: VillaChris not sure how/why I'm quoting you, it's unintentional! whatever I do it won't go away.)

  7. He needs to go ASAP I accept that. But people who have seemingly accepted and are sort of embracing the fact we may be relegated whilst wanting Lerner gone, are surely going to be in for a nasty shock.

Lerner's task of selling us will become even harder. I very much doubt he will be willing to drop the price tag much lower, as he doesn't HAVE to sell us. Another round of austerity measures will probably be instigated  due to drop in revenues.

He may even decide to salvage some of his investment through taking out dividends. We could be stuck with each other for a few more seasons.

Imagine the abuse Westwood would be getting on here if he put in a performance like Veretout did today.

Westwoods been playing in the premier league for how long ? Vertout 10 games think he deserves some slack

  9. Saw enough today to convince me that we could work our way out of this. However its Too many individual mistakes costing us dearly. Until it's mathematically impossible I will keep faith and I urge all villa fans to do the same. The atmosphere at the ground can be dire & toxic the players need the crowd behind them (however shit they are) if we are too stand a chance. Keep the faith UTV !

Nice to see him back on the bench today. Would be interesting to see how he'd play alongside Richards.

Or dare I say instead of? Richards is learning to be a CB whereas it's Okore's natural position. Move Richards to RB and partner Okore with whoever isn't the shittest out of Clark & Lescott. Bring back cissokho & Bennet and I'd be happier about our survival hopes.

  11. Fat Frank and John Terry had quite a few drunken escapades earlier in their careers including this...

Four top Chelsea players have been fined by their club after a drinking binge in a hotel packed with American tourists grieving over the US terror attacks.

The incident happened just 24 hours after the attacks and included stripping, swearing and vomiting at the hotel near Heathrow airport, which was full with Americans stranded by flight cancellations, according to the News of the World.

The group included England Under 21 stars Frank Lampard, Jody Morris, John Terry and former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair

He has been stupid and let us all down but a little perspective is needed here. Let's hope he learns a valuable lesson this afternoon

What's so great about fighting relegation every year?

Not much but we are still here with a fighting chance of staying up. However shit we have been we are still only 5 points adrift with 20 odd games to go. I just don't understand the mindset of people who wouldn't mind to see us relegated just so they can feel better about themselves and the club personally but each to ones own.

Take Fulham, Bolton Wigan etc for example no guarantees we would come back up and we could face mid table mediocrity in the championships for years. Or get promoted right away or even relegated to division one. No one knows but yeah I'd rather be battling relegation each season than experience it.

What are the positives of staying up? Because the past 5 years have basically made me ignore a sport I once loved and taken all the enjoyment out of supporting this club. Are we really that desperate to have more of the same?

You obviously aren't, but I would rather this shit than the **** championship. But yeah let's get relegated just so you can feel better at the weekend.

  14. If the rumoured £150 million price tag is correct I think considering the infrastructure already in place plus the new TV  money is a fair price. if they can't afford that then I don't want them near us. Just check toffee web and see what they think of kenright. They've

rumouredly remortgaged Goodison as he is so skint. At least our debt is to Lerner

  15. Would people rather Lerner had sold to the Paul Smith group who would have lumbered us with £75 million debt to buy us ? Plus he has been out of football for 8 years... im personally glad he didn't.

I feel he is genuine when he says he wants to sell to the right person, and one of the reasons we haven't been sold yet is because the bids haven't met his criteria. FFP really has f^}>€d  us over. Hopefully Platini's replacement will see sense.
