  1. General, has football become a game for girls? Twice tonight QPR have kicked the ball out of play and we have given it them back. WHY??? The ref never stopped the game, why should we give it back? The ref can't do anything about it if we don't, after all if the injury is that bad the ref would stop the game anyway. But to give it back with 2 mins to go, when your team is losing 1-0 and YOUR supporters have paid up to £20 and for what? Do the players not care? It seems that Carew does not, we were shouting to Gardner not to give it them back, he threw it to Carew, fair play. Carew then gave it back to them. Seems like football is not a game for men anymore . When I see things like that I want my £20 back, I could have stayed home and spent the money on my little boy!!! Fortunatly I'm in surgery next Thursday, until tonight I was thinking I was unlucky but I've got my season ticket for my mate, he can suffer instead of me..... Sunderland Saturday, I'll be there tho. One last thing, I will never go to another League Cup game, if we can't take it seriously, why enter it in the 1st place????
  2. General, Sorry, I didn't state that I was referring to the Villa Specials, buses put on by the club to bring in and take home supporters from Tamworth, Knowle,Redditch, Bromsgrove etc on match days. There are a lot of Villa supporters in the Black Country that could use a similar service and it may help reduce the congestion around VP on match day. Also, looking at what has happened at West Ham and Newcastle, I think a lot could be learnt by those two clubs by looking at the way Aston Villa conducts itself in the transfer market, IE the manager has the final say. The board is to be congratulated on that.
  3. General, the car park has not been easy to get out of since God was a lad, I gave up driving to games some 16 yrs ago. My suggestion would be to find out where the fans need to come from and go home to and to put the extra buses on for those areas. I currently live in Wolverhampton but there is no AV1 AV2 or any other bus giving us the option to use the Villa buses and this area probably has more fans than areas where the buses do go or come from outside Birmingham. Hey it helps the environment as well. Villa would look good supporting that as well
  4. A great shout Ian, whatever coins are in my pocket will go in
  5. Hi General, with regards to the ticketing policy, an idea. Fan number 1 attended 5 games last season as did fan number 2. Fan number 1 attended games against Fulham, Wigan, Derby, Sunderland and Bolton. Fan number 2 attended games against Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Birmingham (games that will be close to selling out anyway) To me that suggests that fan number 1 gets along when he can, whereas fan number 2 only attends on the basis of the size of the game. How about a previous booking history points system that rewards those that come to games no matter who the opposition is over the fair weather supporters who only attend the big games? The edited bit - It may bring more fans into the stadium for the games against the lesser teams if they know that by attending those games they have a better chance of getting tickets for the bigger games. Before anyone questions my motives, I'm a season ticket holder, who despaired when all the fair weather supporters walked out of the ground at 4-1 down against Man Utd a long time before the end of the game when the lads really needed us!!!
  6. General, Obviously I don't speak for all Villa fans but can you pass on my gratitude to Gareth Barry that he was willing to play tonight and not only that, he played well too. He knew the consequences of playing and stood up to the plate. Good Man. Hopefully the penny has dropped for him and he knows now where the grass is greener for him.
  7. General, I would have absolutly no interest in this page and I'm sure that Browns fans would have no interest vice versa. If you want to know what is happening in another sport, you have the internet. Keep the Villa matchday programme for the Villa and the opposition. I'm sure Man Utd don't keep their fans updated with how tampa bay are doing and if they did it would be met with derision. Anyhoo, congratulation to you,the board and MON, I am very pleased with the way the summer has turned out
  8. General, I'm not going to knock other fans for having an opinion, the Holte was split on its opinion of Barry last week and where as some ppl booed him, i could not boo a man in a Villa shirt. Howerver I think he has let the club down big time and i have lost all respect for him. Reading between the lines, he or his agent asked for this deadline right? When it didn't happen they asked for the deadline to be extended? I may be way off here. However, I trust MON and the board, the club is moving in the right direction. If Barry goes, he goes, he has lost the fans now and will never get the respect from them that he could of done, once he is gone I don't want him to turn up at VP again. After he retires he can work for Radio Liverpools ex bench. Pls never bring him back here, he has proved he has no feeling for the club that made him. Ahh I'm ranting now, sorry
  9. General, 1. As far as Barry goes, I don't know what to think anymore, I trust what the club said about the deadline but as you said "fog of war" and "unexpected", it seems you are dead right. I just hope we can keep him. 2. Iceland, WOW I was lucky enough to stop there on my way to Minneapolis in 2002, seriously, if you can be there for the away tie? GO!! It is an amazing country with very rugged landscapes. I wish I could go this time but to any Villa fan that can, do it, you won't regret it.
  10. General, I love that there are now baby kits, mine will be getting one. However, why does it not have Acorns on it? If its because some parents might be superstitious and not want Acorns on their baby's shirt, how about making them available with or without Acorns? I for one would prefer to buy my baby the shirt "as the players wear it". I may be way off the mark but its just a thought.
  11. General, if Mrs K can not step up to the plate, maybe we should look at a younger European player. I'm a bit younger,I'm European Oh bugger, 37 is too old to huh?
  12. I also agree with parts of this post, namely if Barry goes, anyone but Liverpool.
  13. Barry has said he won't create a fuss, I suggest if he doesn't want to sign a new contract, he sees out his current one. He won't let us down on the pitch and we have at least two more years of him, by which time we'll be finishing above Liverpool and he will want a new contract. He can earn God like status here enjoyed by only a few players. General, my faith is with you, Randy, MON and the board that Barry will be wearing the Claret and Blue next season :-)
  14. I agree, I want to be wearing my Villa shirt on the 1st day of the season - Mid July this year. Are there some sort of contractual reasons as to why we always have to wait so long to get our shirts?
  15. Point e aside, it worries me that you know all that!!! If Gerrard, Torres and Ronaldo all sign for Villa in the next 2 weeks, I'll know its true and run away to Cornwall!!!(but you have to guess which Cornwall ;-) )
  16. General, What happened to the easy payment scheme? Last season it was every 2 months a payment was taken, now its August, September and October, then thats your lot. You had a chance to save up before. I'm lucky in the fact that i can still do it but what about the guy who works at Asda? Easy payment scheme? Trading Standards might disagree!!
  17. If Barry stays he has my respect for life, if he goes then he is no better than Dwight Yorke and hell yes, I'd boo him in a Liverfool shirt.
  18. General Just thought you might enjoy this video from Youtube http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=N5D8njilUck Enjoy
  19. General, Do you know when the DVD ROM for season ticket renewals will be sent out? Cheers
  20. General, Historically we have never kept a player that does not want to stay and we normally do better than the team he went to. If Barry really wants to go I'd suggest that he is allowed to go and we muddle by without him. In any case he has been a great servant of the club and if he stays I would love it but if he goes? Hey, the Villa go on without him.
  21. Calm down, I killed people in Bosnia that I didn't want to kill, I saved the lives of kids who supported Man U, their parents and familiy were dead, what could I do? I was sworn to save death for the U.N, I was locked down, the kids we great (their parents were dead), kept myself alive 1st.............. nothing more I need to say Q&A and comments for the General, only, please. Not arguments between posters. Thanks Blandy
  22. I suggest you don't make this the last one, we will hold in on this, if my aunt had a dick she would be my uncle, what if, what if, what if, bored and sick of hearing it, you got 33,000 at VP saturday because you deserved it, you could have sold it out, you chose not to, is that the fans fault? No, so lets learn from this together. The fans told you this would happen, you thought you knew better, turns out, the fans knew best. I feel over this issue you have tried to bulldoze us with rubbish that you don't beleive yourself. We will always be fans, but we will not be ripped off, simple as
  23. Ok Blandy, I'm not having a go, but answer me this, if the two clubs don't agree, what happens? Does the game get called off? Both teams knocked out because they could not agree? I'm sure if we dictated the price, we'd have won that little squabble as the home team. Its simple, as a club we have 3 different price structures, we classify this one in the lowest, its our stadium, our choice. Did arsenal tell Burnley "you have to charge your own fans £60 a ticket"? The hell they did this is a thread for the General, hence this edit, not a reply to the post. Basically if they can't agree, the FA adjudicate. It is rare this happens, buit when they do, they invariably mandate that Full Equivalent League Game ticket prices are charged. Blandy
  24. Surely It does not matter what Man U think, they could protest and then we could turn around and say we consider you a Villa Value game, look at the way small heath take the mickey every time we go there. Perhaps then, knowing manure are coming to VP, we can make extra money by fining them for failing to control their fans, i.e. flares on the pitch, manure fans in the holte inciting a riot, need i go on? Its no co-incidence that seat exchange does not include games agains manure and blose That's not how it works, the FA cup rules say the 2 clubs have to agree the price for the match tickets. Blandy
  25. General, 1. Welcome back 4. I appreciate we are a value club to watch, however most Villa fans think the club missed a trick with the ticket pricing for the Man U game. Given what you said about why the attendance was so low, Christmas, New Year, Telly, then perhaps the club could have given the fans a break, £20 a ticket would have seen a sold out game. 5. Spot on, I have a season ticket now, but with the baby on the way it may be hard in the future, although I will hopefully get one next season. 6. Cool, but my name is printed in the 1988 yearbook (or was it 87?) 7. Away colours are banned from executive boxes but the club has to take the business under its own rules. 8. The stewards where I sit (stand) are very good at what they do, Janet is very good/scary, they are all Villa fans themselves to be fair. One last question General, when we play Liverpool away on the 21st, there is a beer and balti going on in the Holte, you gonna come get yourself a balti? I'm sure you wont want for a drink or two ;-)
