our commentators here in the States (Arlo White and Graeme Le Saux) have stated repeated that "Villa deserve everything from this game". Sucks that you guys on the Isles are stuck with cretins like Beglin slobbering all over a pedestrian performance from Liverpool
Baker MOTM for me. I've had my reservations about him but he was a rock today

Guys, we're not getting Ayew. Once 'Arry rolls up in his Range Rover to begin wage negotiations, it's all over.

Maybe I'm off the mark here, but I didn't think the Premiership had a foreign players/non-EU limit? I just thought there was a homegrown minimum.

Insomnia up to his usual tactics: dribbling into a wall.

Oh my god, Baker is atrocious. If not for the fact that we've already used 2 subs, I would seriously suggest subbing Clark in for Baker, he's been that bad. Bacuna may be having an awful game but Baker has been at fault for 2, possibly all 3 of our goals.

Lambert Out.

it's not just having a defensive approach at the start that gets. I understand not coming out of the gates flying high, but simply putting 9 behind the ball and praying for the best isn't a successful gameplan for 90 minutes. There should've been a tactical change to help maintain some possession and kill off a little of their momentum. I think it's time to accept that Lambert simply doesn't have the tactical nous to change the game on the fly. It shows in how we played after they scored the winner.
Ugh. So frustrating.

Guzan's reaction to the equalizer, animooted edition

**** incredible
MOTM has to be Delph, but Weimann is a close 2nd. I think Weimann's got his touch back, boys. Poacher's goal aside, he was wreaking havoc all night, making runs between the midfield and backline and also stretching the backline making shoulder-to-shoulder runs.

I hope Holt dishes out a few elbows to these tossers
already getting to work

Gary Lineker @GaryLineker 3m
@sammatterface And we could have told them in 20 secs that it was not dive. Just stupid goalkeeping.and there you have it folks. "stupid goalkeeping". how on earth can you whine about diving ruining the game and then turn around and actually try to justify it by implying that Suarez is well within his rights to simulate contact?

who the **** are these bellend announcers who don't know how to pronounce Guzan (not "Guzman) and Weimann (not "Why-man") and why do we keep getting them?

I maintained support for PL during the rough patch last season because, unlike during McLeish's reign, we were actually going after games with fairly stylish counter-attacking football. I can't say the same thing this season. I'm beginning to get those awful feelings of "why am I still watching this garbage?" there were is so prevalent during the final months of McLeish. Watching the City/Liverpool game afterwards and I couldn't help shake the feeling that I was watching an entirely different sport than the one that Villa play.

I find it extremely alarming that, with the exception of Delph, all of our young-ish players who played a key role last season have regressed. Westwood, Weimann, Lowton, Sylla... what exactly is going on at the training grounds?

We're the sub? No Helenius? No Kozak? Is Lambert **** conceding? I'm woe to admit it but the people screaming about the ginger word removed are right. Our campaign this season, aside from the first few decent games, is very reminiscent of 2011/2012. I could see our early tally of points being the thing that bails us out in the end. Unless Lambert buys a creative mid that everyone and their mother knows we need.

Gotta agree with the sentiment that this has been coming. You can only play ambitionless hoofball for so long before the goals dry up. The only way that play like this is acceptable is when it works, and we've looked toothless against a bottom 3 side for the 2nd time in 3 games... a couple of smash and grab goals vs. Soton doesn't change that.

remember when everyone was cranked about the fact that the Baggies seemed to be on a higher ascendancy than us?
Well, look at that. 4 points ahead. Whaddya know

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPH

Putrid, absolutely dire. With as many bold decisions that Lambert has made since becoming head honcho, surely it can't be too long before Benteke gets benched? A player can only coast on their reputation for so long before questions start being asked. Our entire gameplan revolves around building play through Benteke's (heretofore) impressive holding ability which opens up space around him. Every single time he received the ball today, he was stifled, pressured, and lost the ball. It's unlike anything I've ever seen. And I don't buy that it's a lack of effort either, because at this point he's running the risk of playing himself out of the Belgian starting lineup right before the World Cup. A meager 10-12 goal season and a bench role at the WC seriously hurts his chances of getting that big-time move he will eventually want.

Senderos was "at fault" for the first goal but was simply the victim of a world class pass. Most defenders would be left looking clueless by that.
Clark's marking on the second was shambolic. Please don't compare the two.
