  1. Former Aston Villa and German international footballer Thomas Hitzlesperger has come out as being gay.

I think this goes to show how much times have changed.

You'd never get a German international at Villa Park these days.

It is only when the story is supposed to paint the player in negative light that they will focus on and emphasise that he was an Aston Villa player.

  2. If HH is correct and the only business we are able to do in jan is a loan, then no half decent manager would come to us.

As for the game, they all worked there socks off imo, they are just not very good. We won't get that amount of possession again this season so the fact we couldn't muster a half decent chance is worrying. We're it trouble make no mistake.

You must be drinking if you think they worked their socks off. Either that or you don't understand the definition of the phrase.

They did work their socks off for all of 10 or 15 mins early in the second half, played well, put Palace under pressure and created chances. The rest of the game they were just pedestrian, unmotivated, disinterested, passing the balls sideways and back devoid of any ideas as everyone was just standing or walking around and then lazily lumping the ball up the field where no one would be bothered to chase.

  3. Things about this is, we have played similar football to this nearly all season. We got battered by Man City and Southampton and escaped with 3 points from each game. Had those games gone with the performances we would be in the bottom three now! We have a nucleus of a team - Guzan, Vlaar, Delph and Benteke. When any one or two of those are missing, we are shocking! Last season we started off poor and grew into a better team after the debacle of Christmas. This season, we started off well and have gradually faded into a worse team than last season's. I just hope we have the same finish that we mustered last season, otherwise we could be in that bottom three at the end of it.

Want to finally highlight the poor "footballing brain" of our players. Delph is one v one with Gayle and what does he do? Show him on to his right foot where he can get a shot at goal. All he had to do was shepherd him down the outside and away from danger but he couldn't do it.

Delph is no nucleus of a team unless it's a Championship standard one. At even a mediocre Premier League club he'd be a squad player at best. Non-existent passing ability that obviously played a part in our shambolic passing this season, can't shoot or score, can't tackle or defend and just lunges wildly at opponents racking up fouls. He's just this season's best player because he does have a little bit of skill to retain the ball and take it past opponents compared to the others who have zilch footballing ability whatsoever.

We were worse off last season I feel. But whatever plan that Lambert has about young and hungry players appears to be going nowhere except backwards if anything wiping out any progress that was actually made.

  4.

Just wish we took note of the Southampton model who after only 2 seasons have surpassed us by far.

We have arguably/apparently one of the best group of youngsters in Europe (our tournament win in the european youth cup last season suggests they aint bad).

Rather then spending £3 million here, £3 million there on shite squad players like tonev, helenius, bacuna etc why cant we promote some of the most talented kids into the team as squad players and gradually integrate them into the team and spend the £15 million on 2 quality experienced players rather then £15 million on 5-6 cheap, unproven frankly average to awful squad players and take note of the model that is proving successful for Southampton. I doubt our young kids will make worse squad players then the likes of bowery, tonev, bacuna and the awful Luna. Tonev better then Grealish?!?! Not a chance. Tonev has to be the most unintelligent, selfish, woeful player ive seen on the evidence so far.

Lambert isnt the man im afraid. But its the wrong time to sake him now as quite frankly who else is out there. Malkay mackay maybe...ogs is unproven, RDM is a big no for me, Sean Dyche is not experienced enough. Frankly at this moment there is no one. But we need to make more of a low budget. He got lucky with Benteke. He aint going to be lucky like that again.

    W.A.G.E.S

It doesn't really look like there isn't any money at all to buy players as we've paid £7 million each for Benteke and Kozak. If we add £3 million here and there from all the other nothing players then we will easily have our £15 million.

The problem appears that we seem to want to pay each of our few players maybe 10 or 20K a week, which adds up to maybe 50 or 60K a week.

The quality player we get for £15 million would easily command more than that alone and that could be the reason. Then again 60K per week should be able to net you quite a good player so the current system definitely needs looking into.

  5. Guzan - 5 - A couple of good stops and also a couple of nervy moments
Bacuna - 1 - Was a liability in defence making all sorts of elementary mistakes. Speaking of elementary, does he even know how to pass? Simple passes to your own player and he even struggles at doing that. Has next to no footballing nous in open play and basically he is little more than an athlete on a football pitch
Herd - 5 - All that was expected
Baker - 3 - Offered zilch going forward. Played his part in a dire performance
Clark - 6 - A couple of good stops and nothing much wrong. Nothing more offered as well
KEA - 2 - Invisible most of the time. And people were saying Sidwell used to be invisible at times? We know who's the better midfielder by far if we compared them both
Delph - 4 - Has some skill. That's about it. Doesn't make any inroads and this is mostly down to his passing as he remains a poor passer of the ball. As with the rest of our team
Westwood - 1 - Easily his worst game in a Villa shirt. His set pieces were so poor they were laughable. And people used to moan at Bannan's set pieces? I don't see how Westwood's are better at all. His pass completion today was as shambolic as anyone else's. Also on multiple occasions when the ball was passed to him all he did was to slip and fall and fail to even receive those basic passes as a result? Might as well not be on the pitch at all today
Weimann - 0 - How the hell he can even qualify as a football player beggars belief. He practically just hits at the ball randomly when he does get it and that counts as playing football? Unbelievable
Agbonlahor - 4 - Got better towards the end and finally put himself about with some forceful runs like he should be doing. Should have had a penalty
Benteke - 3 - At least he is still getting chances. But with his form just so piss poor he just wasted all of them. Looks so much more ponderous compared resulting in chances gone begging as well whereas he used to be able to pull off the shots and goals

Tonev - 3 - Touched the ball a few times and played some passes. That's about it
Albrighton - Too little time to rate

Lowton - In the little time he was on he already offered more going forward than Bacuna did

Mike Dean - MOTM for Fulham. Best "referee" I've seen us have all season. Every touch we made on a Fulham player was a foul including the "penalty". Was it offside as well as it looked like it was? Allowed his teammates to crash into our players and get away with it. Not giving the penalty to Gabby when he allowed his team one for a lesser offence just sums it up.

  6. I would drop him v Saints and bring in Kozak for a run. I'd also drop Weimann for Albrighton.

The other option would be to play Kozak & Weimann as a front 2.

Albrighton for Weimann I have no issues with as they're probably about as good as each other anyway, although Weimann should have the edge unless Albrighton is on better form than we knew.

As for Kozak, a half bit Benteke is still better than him. Benteke managed a couple of good diagonal passes to play Bacuna etc on the wings in even if he did nothing else offensively. Kozak goes entire games without achieving anything of note at all.

  7. What a **** shit excuse of a referee the referee is

    - QPR back pass, no indirect free kick

    - Zamora blatantly offside, play on and Samba got his shot away

    - QPR get an advantage and got at goal and missed, so they get the free kick for a second change

    - Townsend and Bosingwa kicked Agbonlahor to bring him down twice, not one yellow card

    - 5 mins of Fergie time from out of nowhere

    - QPR allowed to play on and on after the 5 mins until they finally managed to get a shot

  8. Not expecting anything today but you simply have to hold on with a two goal lead.

We are now becoming detached from the pack in front; Newcastle are 6 points away and have strengthened, QPR are keeping clean sheets every week, Reading are winning, Southampton are decent and Wigan have seen it all before.  We have had it.

This. I was a bit surprised that Newcastle have done as poorly as they have this season but they simply woke up in the last 2 games and took off.

Reading and Southampton are not completely useless.

Wigan always step up a gear and are capable of getting wins just when it starts to look desperate for them.

The only one comparably as poor as us now are QPR and even they have strengthened and shown a bit of improvement.

We will struggle to avoid finishing bottom nevermind avoid relgegation.

  9. Yep,

and Ron Vlaar has been the captain - the so called 'inspirational figure' in both them games. This guy should not be immune from criticism. He hasnt been great since he signed. Not one bit. Being our best defender is nowhere near enough considering how shite the rest are - especially when your a far far more experienced player. If anything, his pedigree makes him more open to criticism for his far from impressive

    displays.

Vlaar didn't even play in the first leg, check your facts before you spout utter drivel. All players makes mistakes, and our defense has been lot better since he's been back, if you didn't notice we've stopped leaking goals by bucketloads.

Utter drivel eh? Jarpie 3 goals is still a bucketload when you're in such deep shit as we are. Learn to count please.

I totally agree with Woodytom. Yet another goal conceded from a header solely down to our supposed rock in defence losing out to his man pathetically 1v1.

He being our defence's lynchpin is one of the reasons why we are such a shambles and far worse than any of the other clubs in the league.

  10. I thought Lambert said the players he were looking for are hungry. How hungry is it when you have players jogging casually at crucial points in the game, leading to 2 goals?

Bennett simply jogged past their player and left him all alone in front of Given for the first goal. Surely no player can be so brain dead to make such an obvious asking for trouble mistake? He didn't even have any reaction apart from a lazy offside appeal when the ball went through and the player scored.

Baker for the second goal, jogging non chalently after the ball as the ball was making its way to their player who was obviously unmarked and in prime location to put it back in. No interest or intent to pressure whatsoever. If that is his attitude to being given a chance and being in the team he should really just **** off.

  11. So if we'd lost 1-0 today you wouldn't have wanted him gone?

At least that shows he knows what he's doing. This guy was clueless out there today and did nothing at all to stop the rot. He even seemed to bring on Bowery just for laughs? It's like one of those computer games on beginner modes where they do inexplicably retarded stuff that beggars logic.

Less than half a season into his tenure he has written us into the record books of over a hundred years with a record defeat. Way to go.

Most here really have wool over their eyes or think that football is just about trying to make nice passes and nothing else.

  12. The most one sided hammering we ever have had in the PL era.

Not a single positive from that, even Benteke looked shit.

PL era my foot. It wasn't just the PL era but entire history.

Less than half a season into his tenure, Lambert has overseen the worst ever defeat in the club's entire history. Time to **** off. Next better manager please.
