  1. If he gets a chance (and if the news about him being dropped recently for being late is correct then that's a big if) I think this could be Delphs shining moment.

Don't ask me why but i can just see it being a game like this... Bent will probably put them 1 up and it'll begin to look like the same old story, then the young lad will probably pop up with 2 or 3 goals in a couple of minutes out of nowhere and we'll all go mental about it for weeks.

Don't ask me why i think this but i do.

Edit: On second thoughts I have had 4 pints of guiness at lunch so stick me down for a 0-0 draw

  2. I know it aint gonna happen but i'd like to see this side...

    -----------------Guzan----------------------

    Young------Cuellar--Dunne--Warnock----

    Albrighton--Petrov--Delph--Milner--Young

    ------------------Carew---------------------

That while risky should still be a strong enough side to get us a result and rests almost half a side: Friedel, Collins, Downing, Heskey, Agbonlahor - all of whom could start against Wolves.

  3. I think it's our old friend style.

We play a physical pressing game with pace and we play the percentages; big man to aim at, quick man over the top and get it down the wings.

That's a strategy that means you can win or lose any game, because to some extent it removes the importance of being able to play the ball around or keep possession. It means that every time we play one of the big four we've got a real chance to win, because we turn the game into a contest on our terms and on our terms we're a reasonable match for anyone.

Unfortunately on our terms anyone is a reasonable match for us.

When you turn football matches into athletic contests you even the playing field but you even it up both ways and create a situation where you've a good chance of beating Chelsea and a reasonable chance of losing to QPR.

We need to learn to play slow possession football with guile and finesse if we're to beat the minnows, because at the moment we're just challenging them to a big and quick contest with no guarantees that the winner will take the points.

We can stop a team controlling a game, but that's not the same as learning to control a game ourselves.

Wow! I'm going to say that down the pub and pretend to my mates that i came up with it! I didn't fully realise this before but i think you are spot on OBE!

  4. If we'd have gotten in a 'special' signing, something for the fans to get excited about, a merse type player then i'd have voted for one of the top 2 options.

We have strenthened and brought in some very decent players, however none of these really are a step above what we already have and none will bring the crowds racing back to Villa park in excitement. That said, we should now be more solid and who knows, a good run like last year and maybe we'll have the experience and learning to push on.

  5. Anyone who voted yes should take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror! Even if he was any good i wouldn't want him, he is a scum bag and the fact is he's shit to boot - over rated years ago and as many people have said, hasn't done anything since then either!

The fact that Newcastle took him on after everything he did warrents them being relegated. Barton should have been thrown out of football years ago... it's clubs like Newcastle who put morals to one side whilst they lust after success which allows thugs like him a way back in, thus impressionable young kids think it's acceptable to hit people in the street, put your team mates in hospital etc etc.

  6. ok, i have thought of a couple of films which are old (to me), and might benefit from a new version.

    top of my list is:

    ROBOCOP

    also maybe:

    Ghostbusters

    The Goonies

    Brewsters Millions

    WHAT!!!???

There is no way any of those films should be remade... they're not that old for starters! Plus they've got that cheesy innocence of the 80's and early 90's about them. And when i say that i mean that as much in the way that at the time nobody was too hung up about special effects and you'd never here the line "like that'd ever happen". Modern day cinema audiences are too demanding and harder to please (and i include myself in that).

In addition to that i feel the modern day comedian struggles to work in this kind of environment. Classic comedians like Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray could make you laugh without even trying and i don't think you've got anywhere near that talent in the current hollywood line up. You try putting the modern successors in such a line up and you end up with something like 'Wild Hogs' or some bollox with Chris Rock.
