  1. You can get away with playing someone like Hourihane for his set pieces when you have a pairing like McGinn and Grealish in there.

If you don't, CH is as close to a passenger as you will ever find. So weak, no ambition in his open play passing, never wins a tackle or header. Just so so poor at times.

That said we have battled well, should be ahead, missed some great chances.

I agree TA should be brought off, confidence is rock bottom

  2. They have changed the law for handball recently. Removing the need for it to be deliberate.

It's why we are seeing some strange decisions in the champions League. Now if you make your body bigger with your arms and it's hits arm its a penalty regardless of intent.

Although think may be start of next season in England, but uefa have started already

His overall game isn't good enough. He's ok at this level, but it stops there.

Can't even say I agree. To me he looks like he is already playing above his level. We have a real disadvantage when he is in starting 11. Too easy to play against

  4. Interesting to see Derby escape a £65 million loss this season by allowing their owner Mel Morris to purchase Pride Park stadium for £80 million! (Listed as an asset worth £43 million) so almost double it's value

If that's accepted then surely we could do similar or even "sell" alot of that random property that was paid off by the new owners at marked up prices?

Didn't we own houses businesses and even a mechanic business locally?

  5. Anyone claiming that first goal is a mistake by steer genuinely doesn't know what they are talking about.

I've played in goal at decent level before and whichever way you look at it, his positioning as the cross is hit is as close to perfect as you can get!

He is covering both near post and yet still far enough off line to cover a low cross between him and penalty spot / six yard line.

The cross was completely shanked and also caught a clear gust of wind taking right over his head and only dropping in just under cross bar and post. Literally if someone hits a chip or shot that perfect you won't stop it, so a complete flukey shank that loops and drifts with the wind right into top corner is completely unavoidable and just rotten luck.

If in doubt look at the angle from linesman's view. He is in perfect position

  6.  One of the worst misses I've ever seen from JM today. At 1-0 early second half when we were in total control.

    They scored right after.

Free header 4 yards out, no pressure. Initially thought cross was behind him, but no, dreadful miss

  7. I'm not getting hung up on whether TA stays or leaves.

I think his impact is massively overrated. He has missed almost as many as he has scored. He is a good player not a great one. If he leaves I'd be more than happy that Hogan / Jimmy could step up and score a lot of goals.

This teams key is the wings and Grealish, they will great bag full of goals for whoever is up top

  8. I am conflicted. I've long thought Chester is a decent CB but not great, he has several limitations and always makes me nervous when he has the ball at his feet and a striker is within ten metres

However I can't help but love the guy, his passion for the shirt and professionalism as well as his celebrations when we score are great and can't help but think he really is a much loved captain in the dressing room.

We will need to replace him in future if we go up, but as well as I understand this is necessary, it will be a sad day for me

  9. So he finally plays 2 strikers, but leaves all 3 of our best wingers on bench so they have no supply.

Oh and Jedi back in at CB. FFS he is wanting his pay off just pull the trigger already!!!!

  10. Didn't look confident at all. Ball continually mixed up in his feet. Missed ball entirely at one point when trying to pass. Was less like pro footballer and sorry to say more like sub standard pub footballer tonight.

Looks to have a lack of belief which is a shame as can't see him getting much of a look in from now on

I think you have some very astute observations. One of my many (and I’m sure endless to some) complaints about Bruce is that his tactics never seem to match the personnel.  Playing long ball to hold and bring other into play is fine with Davis, but it’s inane if RHM is up top and to a lesser extent Kodjia.

but heres my question for you.  Would you have more hope the RHM if we played a style with quick passes on the ground? (Which is what our U-23’s play when I have see them)

my suspicion is that you don’t see hope in RHM partly because Bruce doesn’t play a style that suits him.

Honestly, I don't think so. I watched him a fair bit and thought he was decent striker if a little limited. Often these skilful strikers who dribble at pace can't cut it at higher level against better defenders.

Usually a good youngster who makes the first team will have a few strings to their bow otherwise history dictates they will struggle.

RHM will obviously have a better chance of the manager plays a style that suits him, but even if that happens I'm not expecting him to be a top player. Hope I'm wrong

  12. Now I have issues in that Bruce set RHM up to fail last night. Playing him as a lone target man is never going to allow RHM to show off his talents. Maybe if we linked midfield to wingers and forwards playing good football and high pressure yes. But not simply lumping balls to him against two huge lumps.

So not going to read too much into what was a totally ineffectual display.

However what I will say is I don't have the hopes for RHM as many on here, he seems to be highly hyped and rated by alot of fans but I just haven't seen it. I watched loads of previous youth players such as Moore's, vassell, agbonlahor, delfoneso all of whom looked better than RHM at under 23 level. None of those pulled up any trees apart from early Gabby. And they all had more physicality about them.

For me Keinan Davis is still the go to striker from the youth setup

  13. I like birkir. But pointless him being here, Bruce will always play a holding player who is over 30 and shit rather than him. He will pick grealish hourihane (regardless of form) and one from jedi or Whelan.

Shame as we a much better side with him in and jack really pushes on
