  1. Former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello has admitted he would welcome the challenge of coaching England.

Capello, who was sacked by Madrid despite leading the Spanish giants to the Primera Liga crown earlier this year, would be interested in succeeding Steve McClaren, who was dismissed on Thursday after England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008.

While commentating during Wednesday's qualifying game between Italy and the Faroe Islands for Italian TV channel Rai, Capello said: "Me to coach England? It would be a challenge, a beautiful test to overcome and I would have the right age."

The 61-year-old, who has also enjoyed successful spells at AC Milan, Juventus and Roma, was recently linked with a move to Tottenham in England's Premier League but Spurs appointed Spanish coach Juande Ramos instead.

    Capello interested

    I hope it's true.

  2. I have no idea if it's true or not, but I found this gem of a quote on the F365 Forum:

My old man is good mates with a board member of a Premiership club and he reckons everyone looks forward to visiting St Andrews for the comedy value in the Directors Lounge.

Apparently there's more class in Jodie Marsh's bucket. the wives have all got pneumatic tits, are draped in tacky tinsel and don't have a clue about what's going on, not with the football, just in general.

You can imagine what the blokes are like as well.

Why wouldn't you want to work for them?

I really hope it is true. :)

  3. I thought Knight did really, really well today. He was good on the head, and looked comfortable to be honest.
Nope at fault for their goal - and went missing a few times especially towards the end.

But do I give a monekys now? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Jesus Christ....

  4. General,

I know this has probably been asked before but would it be possible for the club to look into package deals for those Villans outside the UK. Villa have quite a large fanbase here in Ireland (largely thanks to Mr Paul McGrath!) and we would love to get over to Villa Park more often.

Only the other day a mate of mine and I were saying we would seriously consider buying a season ticket if it were possible to get a return flight on the same day. I know it may not be possible but maybe the club could look into a partnership with BMI Baby?

I'm sure that our other international Villa Talkers would love to deal directly with the club when booking their trips also.

    Cheers General,

    Keep up the good work!

This is something I'd really like to see too. It might be a bit more difficult, but there are a fair few Villans who would travel a bit more often if it was possible.

  5. I know there's been a lot of complaints this summer about the signings, about the lack of signings and the silence from Villa Park in terms of rumours etc, but I for one am loving every minute of it. I've only seen Villa play live once (a pre-season firendly i Sweden when DOL was in charge) but I can still feel the difference in atmosphere just by browsing the Internet and watching the few televised games they show here in Sweden. Of course, I would love to see big name signings right away, but considering how things were before the takeover I can be patient. The mere fact that you are here to answer our questions says a lot about how things have changed from the bad old days. I actually feel positive about the future for a change and even if this summer turns out to a bit dry in terms of signings and the season gets a bit rougher than expected, I will still have complete faith in the new administrations ability to turn our furtunes around. And if you launch a worldwide Villa TV-channel enabling those of us unfortunate enough not to live close to Birmingham (or England for that matter) to watch our beloved Villans on a regular basis I'd be over the moon. :)

  6. For the first time (ever I think) friends and co-workers actually initiates discussions about Aston Villa and they are genuinely interested in what's going on at the club. I live in Sweden, and most people I know support either Liverpool, Arsenal or Man U (one poor sod even claims to love Blackburn, although I find it hard to believe ;) ), and before the takeover they never brought Villa up, even if we had conversations about English football. People really are noticing the club now, and I suspect that if things start to improve a bit on the pitch Villas profile will continue its ascendancy. Keep it up over there, and I might just come over from Sweden and visit Villa Park for the first time ever. :)
