  1. Yes, but I would probably be a bit shit with the killing part though. I suspect I will have the dying part down to tee. After hearing about my grandfathers experiences on the Eastern Front during WWII, I seriously hope we never have to see a global conflict like that again.

  2. A British and a German equivalent is needed ASAP. Would be excellent TV. Too bad a German one is close to undoable. No production company would have the balls to do one. A shame since there are some really, really interesting stories to tell from the German side.

  3. The farther away we move from the takeover year, the more some people forget how deeply in the shit we were. The players we need will come. It might not be the lads we all will be over the moon about, but I firmly believe that MON and Lerner are the best option when it comes to bringing this club forward and making us great again. It might not happen as fast as all of us would like, but it is obvious to me that MON isn't shit in the transfer market. No, he is in fact very, very good. He is stubborn and pursues the boys he wants for his TEAM vigorously. Friedel and Sidwell are proof of that. He has been after them for some time. MON is not a Pokemonesque gatherer of names and prestige players (you can do very well with that approach too) but a TEAM BUILDER, with the focus squarely on the types of players he wants to have in the squad. I quite firmly think this is the best way of putting together a team that can sustain itself over a period of time. We will hit bumps in the road in terms of league position, individual performances in games we should win, squad size etc, etc, but we are moving on up in the long term. I don't have blind faith in anything, but I do trust the current regime when it comes to what they tell us and also in terms of ambition. We will have Champions League football at Villa Park under MON.

  4. MON is waiting till Summer to get the Right Back he wants and I agree with him. Mellberg is a better full back than Bouma.

We need a Winger and Striker. It's been a very hard window as Sven & Others have said already, Even Avram Grant said it's a crazy window and he can't sign anymore players.

Agreed. I think it will be difficult in finding a better RB than Olly, especially in January. Spending 20-30m on Bosingwa doesn't feel like a chance we should be taking right now. But what do I know?

  5. General Krulak here:

    3. Regarding our global strategy. Like any "product", we need to ensure its popularity before we can expect revenue to come from a world-wide audience. We hope to do this in two major ways: 1) Ensure we have a consistent, winning squad on the Pitch. People want to back/see a winner. We understand this and are working hard to produce that portion of the "product." 2) Utilizing our relationship with Nike, we hope to demonstrate that the ancillary products are first rate and that our distribution capability is second to none. When all of this is accomplished, we hope to have a world-wide market that will accept all of our products...to include viewing the games.

    General,

Regarding point 3 of your post, would it be at all possible to arrange for some sort of live or delayed broadcast of full Villa games over the Internet for the foreign contingent of Villa fans not being able to subscribe to Setanta, Sky etc? I would imagine there is some sort of regulations regarding this set down by the owners of the broadcasting rights, but even delayed games would be a real treat since Villa in action is a hard to come by commodity.

  6. Not sure why people are so upset at losing MON - if he goes it opens the door for Capello/Mourinho/Lippi

I can't see it TBH. I've said it elsewhere before, but I think we need to become more of a force than we currently are to be interesting to any of those blokes. Besides, Moaninho can't manage in the PL at the moment, or is that just paper talk?

  7. Former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello has admitted he would welcome the challenge of coaching England.

Capello, who was sacked by Madrid despite leading the Spanish giants to the Primera Liga crown earlier this year, would be interested in succeeding Steve McClaren, who was dismissed on Thursday after England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008.

While commentating during Wednesday's qualifying game between Italy and the Faroe Islands for Italian TV channel Rai, Capello said: "Me to coach England? It would be a challenge, a beautiful test to overcome and I would have the right age."

The 61-year-old, who has also enjoyed successful spells at AC Milan, Juventus and Roma, was recently linked with a move to Tottenham in England's Premier League but Spurs appointed Spanish coach Juande Ramos instead.

    Capello interested

    I hope it's true.
