Really enjoyed that, some end-to-end stuff there. Davis MOTM for me, his link up play was so important. The only clouds on the horizon were Whelan, whose performance was characteristically poor, and the subs, when they eventually came, which shored us up defensively but left us with no out ball. Other than that I have no complaints. A few more like that please,Villa!

Only started watching on about 30 minutes but since then it's been pretty much one way traffic with a couple really nice breaks from us and examples of us winning the ball back in more advanced positions. Hopefully we can push on from here and continue this into second half. If we keep playing like this there's no reason to think we can't win.

Well at least we haven't spent much money on strikers.

And that Wednesday player is going to get a yellow for kicking the ball away, yes? No? Good show, ref.

ball ends up with Hutton or Adomah on left, possession ends.
It's frustrating to watch Adomah, our quality crosser of the ball, keep dwelling on it until the opposition are doubling up on him and then laying it off to Hutton, whose qualities are a crosser are a little less obvious.

Good block by Whelan then, making up for Hutton being caught out of position.

Well this has been a joy so far.

Oh my god, heart in my mouth there

Stupid blosers.

Jesus, Whelan...

Imagine the stink that MOTD would have kicked up if it had been anyone other than good ol' honest lad Troy Deeney trying to crush Joe Allen's head like a grape. Not got him on for an interview tonight, Lineker?
-
Close, De Laet probably should have scored there.

That's more like it! Nice one Uncle Albert!

Whelan's been around long enough to know not to do that. If he's not bringing maturity and experience to the side then what use is he?

Jesus wept. Great job, Whelan.

Can't believe nobody took a chance at the far post on that corner.

O'Hare a rare bright spot in this dismal second half.

Close from Snodgrass.

Hutton makes a good challenge there, but he needs backing up, and Johnstone shouldn't be beaten from that angle.

I really don't get what happens at half time.

Wolves particularly in the final third look smooth as silk, Villa haven’t done a lot wrong especially as the away side.
Wolves could have easily had a penalty when Kodjia swung a foot in front of the face of the wolves striker.
Honestly, I don't think we're doing too badly - we're playing like an away side. That's not the problem. The problem is the number of times we play like an away side when we're at Villa Park.

What I'm picking up from this thread is that Wolves are a bunch of cheats whose only tactic is diving, and that they are also spectacularly outplaying us. Make up your minds, folks.

no way. the only dangerous part was Costa trying to head a ball Kodjia had beaten him to. The rule needs to be there, but applying it in a situation like that would be ridiculous.
I disagree, but that's neither here nor there. The way that refs have been implementing the rule and punishing high boots with cards in recent weeks means, IMO, that players have to be careful as they (should) know that refs are cracking down on it.

Kodja got away with one there.
