What a match - the most enjoyable match of the world cup so far. I can't remember the last time I cheered for the U.S. and I'm gutted they didn't go through. The Belgians probably deserved the win based purely on the statistics, but the U.S. played with so much heart that I really wanted them to qualify. Very impressed with Jones, Howard was immense and Yedlin made quite the impression when he came on. After the dog of a match that was the Argentina-Switzerland game, this one was brilliant.

Bye bye England. Positives: Barkley looks like he'll develop into a player, and Luke Shaw put in an impressive performance - full of running, decent going back. Otherwise it was another disappointing performance. England looked scrappy in possession, with no composure on the ball. Too many passes were off target or over-hit, Lallana was disappointing, Wilshire has confidence that his talents do not justify, Sturridge was anonymous and Jones is, frankly, dog dirt. I understand the sentiment of giving some of these players a run out but if that's England's future I expect many more years of hurt. And Suarez should go. I can't understand the idea that because he's good at kicking a ball we should overlook his numerous failings. In any other profession racial slurs and repeated physical assaults would see you fired and probably prosecuted; I don't see why Suarez should be any different and no, I wouldn't want him at villa.

Yeah, he's been impressive. Wants the ball, willing to run and work hard. Unfortunately he's not long signed for Besiktas. Been impressed with the U.S. in general, actually. Defensively a bit shaky, but they look decent going forward. They just need a better final ball.

I'm enjoying this match. I'm especially enjoying watching Ronaldo stamp his feet like a spoiled child every time a call goes against him.
