As I said before, there's been more than one confirmation from reputable people who know current club staff that have confirmed it to be accurate.

You may choose not to believe them...that's your prerogative.

Well I don’t know who these reputable people are? How are they reputable? Hard to believe something when you’re not in the loop of those in the know? More chance of winning lotto than guessing who these people are and whether they are reputable.

yes, we're talking about allegations, no one is saying they're factual. but there's a lot of smoke here (based on several reputable people with connections to the club indicating there's truth to them) that means that it's worth discussing

There nothing wrong with discussing them, but some have jumped to believing them without providing any substance other than an anonymous letter. I’d rather judge it when all the information is made available, if it ever comes to light.

being made redundant and being sacked are 2 totally different things. the allegations are that he's sacking people without going through the correct process per UK law

Alleged, let me know when they are actually factual as the media appears to have to have given the accusations so far a big miss.

I find this perspective very funny when only one of these things really matters, and it ain't the lads kicking the ball around.

When the club being successful is related to turnover sponsorship etc, yes it is, as it will affect the type of lads kicking the ball around the club can attract and are what that are able to achieve.

So you don't think Unai Emery hiring his pals on like Vidagany, Monchi and Pau Torres without due HR process is farcical?

It’s completely different, it’s football operations and the owners have him the leeway to make those appointments, would you rather Gerrards support staff was left to assist Emery? He most likely wouldn’t have accepted the job as manager.

those sitting behind desks aren't playing professional sport though. they're on a normal wage with mortgages to pay and families to feed. they just happen to work for a professional sports club. the players and manager are judged differently and treated differently because that's the nature of the role they play at the club. but if heck is indeed breaking UK employment law and firing people working behind the scenes without going through due process then he should have the book thrown at him

It doesn’t matter whether they’re on the field or not.

There’s people who are made redundant all around the world in their daily jobs a lot of the times for not the right reasons and none of them work for football clubs.

Being made redundant or sacked is never a nice thing, but it’s happened to most people including myself across the world and just becuase they work for the club makes it no different as long as the club becomes better from the change.

  7. I did the hypothetical predictor table this afternoon and feeling a little more confident when you go through the other fixtures.

I'm probably going to be caned for this, but I think it might be too far for Manure and by the time we get to week 32 if we can stay in front of Spurs, they literally have the top 3 teams from memory within a 3-4 week period (Newcastle away, Man City home, Arsenal home, Liverpool away) and will allow us to open up a gap, which they may find difficult to close.

If we can get 7-9 points from next 3 games....will start to get exciting.

The question is did they have KPI's? As a CEO your role is strategic not operational so should he be getting involve in day to day running.

He has kpi’s with the owner’s. He’s going to bring in people he knows can deliver in those kpi’s not wait 1-2-3 years of current employees who may or may not have the experience to deliver those outcomes.

Mate. Just because you are unaware of what’s been going on, don’t assume others are not aware of what he’s been doing.

I’m not making any assumptions, I’m weighing up the allegations of an anonymous person against a professional doing a difficult job. I’m sure there’s some half truths to some of the allegations, but don’t believe the context is being properly revealed.

We as supporters all want the club to be successful but we also have to accept that some unpalatable things have to occur to deliver that success.

I'm sure the owners were fully aware of the type of person they were employing and did there due diligence but just maybe his style of management is not what works at a PL football club? Like everyone else on this forum I have no idea how true any of this is. Any new CEO/president worth his salt in this day and age that walks into a job will bring in an external company to do a review of the current org structure, policies etc. based on various frameworks out there. What worries me is the bit about awarding contracts to mates/previous associates etc. if the club does not have a robust procurement process in place it's very concerning and just leads to back handers and corruption and I don't want that at my football club.

I guess the question when your managing at that level do you keep the people who cannot deliver on the kpi’s or do you bring in people who can?

Well if it is true about the resignation paypackets being withheld etc. Then I can understand why the employees might not be so trusting of HR and the Legal team especially when Heck and Hatton seemed to have gone over their head when restructuring the organisation.

If the legal processes that are established by the country aren't being followed how can the employees expect that HR or Legal will protect them from retaliation or sacking before they cna get new jobs.

A lot of assumptions are being made on alleged accusations from an anonymous person.

There’s two sides to this story and I find it amazing that if the allegations were true and the damage it would make to the Villa brand that the owners would have not already stepped in.

We’re being asked to believe that the owners have made there first poor decision in recruitment,  did no due diligence with a man with a well credentialed reputation and CV, weighted against an anonymous persons allegations  and which the local media haven’t picked any of it up?

This is a professional sport organisation being dragged into the 21st century not the local council job where you can skate by for 40 years.

Organisations have to evolve unfortunately some people can’t evolve with the organisation and would rather throw stones than accept their own limitations.

Maybe they weren't that great to begin with? All I'm saying is that there could be reason that whomever released this had no faith in such policies. Also if they believe that Heck is breaking UK employment laws, then is it really hard to believe that they wouldn't trust him not to break internal policies?

I’m happy to be proved wrong, just sounds like excuses to me as you can go to govt and complain laws are being broken, you could go to the media, hire a lawyer, etc, but they choose to dump it anonymously on social media? Loses sincerity with me the way it was done.

If you have no faith in the upper mgmt, HR and/or the whistleblowing policy at your company, then I can see how you wouldn't trust the official channels. Some parts might have sounded petty, but the accusations of lay offs being made illegality showed no such pettiness, but rather outright concern to me.

Sure, but conversely I doubt lack of due diligence is the reason for all bad CEOs. Sometimes you think something will work out the way you think and it doesn't too. Due diligence isn't a guarantee that the best decision will be made, although in theory it should.

I doubt Heck has had the time to touch HR or any policies at the club. The policies prior to Heck’s appointment most likely are still in place, funny how there is suddenly a problem with them when change is occurring. To say the owners aren’t aware of the day to day within the club is misleading.

  14. I’m trying to play catch up on this topic, however I find it difficult to believe that the owners didn’t do their due diligence on Heck without a long interview process, checking previous employers etc.

People don’t change overnight, if what is suggested is true then it would have come up in the process of the background checks. I have no doubt that Heck has come in with the  direction from the owners to make change. The problem with change is some don’t like it and believe their little world shouldn’t be touched. Heck would have a totally different management style to the previous CEO who, probably appointed most of the current staff.

On reading what was posted, it came across as somewhat petty and the views of someone who didn’t like the change. I also don’t like that it is anonymous, if you were fair dinkum you would raise it internally. The use of the language again just sounds somewhat made up, as it is an American phrase, but agin I just don’t see how this isn’t identified in the interview process by the owners.

I may be completely wrong, but it comes across with someone not liking the changes being made by the club, and I can’t believe that the owners would not have taken the proper due diligence in Heck’s appointment.

I have a slight worry with Moreneo that he tires of towards the end of a match. Last season  he was playing so well yet he was usually subbed. Obviously this season he hasnt but I am wondering has he been saving his energy. So being able to sub him might lift his game.

You forget how much time he had off, he would have lost a significant amount of aerobic fitness, it takes time to come back.

Football is played in small details, we had early chances, if we scored would have been totally different l. Same after 2-0. Then if we kept it tight would have been as well. 3rd goal changed the whole thing.

Normally I would agree, but when you see similar effort twice within a week, there is something more concerning going on.

I think if we were happy to go out, we'd have crumbled at Stamford Bridge.

Maybe, but the first leg was a cup weekend, second leg was between two important PL fixtures. The importance may of changed when there was a replay.

I can’t get my head around the drop off in performance from 4 days ago and that was after watching the game in full again tonight.

Don't think it's either/or. First goal, fair enough could probably do better, second goal with anywhere near a full strength back line we do not concede and the third was a fantasy made up foul and then a world class free kick. With the ball, starting from I think not having Konsa, Torres or Mings on the pitch, our usual strength turned into a weakness as we misplaced simple passes and gave the ball away where usually we do not.

Unai saying he wanted to give the players minutes together before making changes would seem to be in line with that too. Hopefully it pays off on Sunday.

You may be right, I’m going to watch the horror show again tonight, maybe I’ll see it differently.

@QldVilla, might be a poor assumption to assume all Aussies know about all Aussie players....but

Do you know anything about Gauci?, do you rate him? (if you know anything about him/)

I do mate. I used to work for an A league club many years ago, doesn’t mean I know much about football, but still have contacts in the game and I know he was being scouted by several European clubs including Villa. He’s potentially better than Ryan and some believe he can be better.

So why were you so pleased to see another Australian sign for us if it has absolutely no impact whatsoever on your perception of players?

Becuase I know of his potential as a player and I’ve supported Villa since 1976 an Aussie GK playing in the PL will mean more news about Villa in Australia. He earned his move and it’s with the club I support. If he was ordinary I would be questioning why we signed him.
