  1. It’s great news that Unai will be extending his contract, however I’m not getting the fear by some that he would go to greener pastures after only being here for 18 months.

Many many experts in the game had written him off after his Arsenal stint, the same people now who are now choking on their own words by singing his praises.

Villa believed in him and went out and brought him back to the PL. He was never going anywhere, the job isn’t finished.

Gotta say I'm not sure what's the point of investing in the Australian side. Small population, talent spread our among ridiculous amount of competitive sports over there, AFL is king, rugby, cricket, swimming etc. There hasn't been much Australian talent of note lately (hopefully we got the best one lol). Not sure there's much profits to be made on Aussie soccer either but could be well wrong.  The MLS franchise seemed to have made more sense in all aspects.

Football is the most played sport by junior boys in Australia and the girls are closing the gap on netball every year.

  3. Roger’s seemed to have an X factor about him at Middlesbrough although inconsistent. We’re seeing glimpses of that player as he adapts to our style of play, could be very exciting in the coming seasons.

I would think they are back for pre-season training, aren’t they?

Mings still looks a fair way off, from the X snippets he was doing a lot of ancillary (support/agility) work in the gym and the run throughs were very low intensity. They will be building up his running volume over the next 12 weeks and slowly increasing the intensity, still looks about 16 weeks away before normal training.

Mings has "gone viral" down here, apparently.

In his recent upload of his workout, there were 2 NRL jersey's on the wall (for Manly -  traditionally the club everyone loves to hate - and one for Newcastle)....

... but here is what the mainstream media had to say down here (emphasis mine):

.... I am so ashamed to be an Aussie

They got it right by the end of the article, mind. Full article here (not worth reading): https://www.news.com.au/sport/football/fans-lose-it-at-aussie-detail-in-premier-league-stars-viral-video/news-story/8bd2c441a2a4e393c00742990fe6a194

    Careful mate, Manly member here.

  6. I’ve been waiting to see that Zaniolo since he signed on a loan. There’s been small glimpses, let’s hope he can perform like yesterday week in week out for the rest of the season.

We won’t have a history worthy of discussion in 20 years  if we don’t take the very difficult decision to put the clubs future growth potential first.

Agree. Only the owners know what plans they have for the club, there is an opportunity to dominate the midlands for the next 10,20,30 years where every young footballer in the region wants to play for Villa, the club has to be bigger than its past, while still acknowledging it.

  8. Just came back from Vegas a couple of weeks ago, the NRL here in Australia had 2 matches of the opening round of the season at the Allegiant Stadium.

Gave me a similar feel as Wembley for atmosphere but the services, food, access were far superior. Better than anything we have in Australia or anything I have experienced abroad.

As much as I love Villa Park, we have to grow to be successful and an all purpose venue owned by Villa would have significant benefits for the club not just as a football venue but for entertainment and other sports in the midlands.

  9. I’ve come to the opinion over the past couple of weeks, that if and when we sell one of our player assets, the club will replace them with someone who is potentially as good or better.

The way Emery has been able to get the levels out of the current playing group and in all honesty has mostly surprised us all, there’s little doubt he can’t achieve the same with a replacement for those who are sold.

When we get CL football, some players will be moved on, but the incoming players will most likely upgrade the squad long term.

  10. On his performance in the second half of last season I thought Ollie could get 20-25 goals this PL season. I made the prediction on here before the start of this season and a couple people on here thought it wasn’t possible.

Im glad he has elevated his performance again this season, time will tell whether he achieves the 20+ season goals club.

  11. It’s a good sign if he was feeling a pain, rather than a tear occurring. The pain can be neural and comes from the hips being tight, as long as there is no tissue damage, he should be ok, touch wood.

  12. It’s funny how so many fans jump on players backs without knowing all the facts, then down the track they hear all that occurred and they have sympathy for the player.

The narrative on here was three managers had a look at him and didn’t rate him, when it wasn’t actually the case.

While I get your point here I do have some questions

    1) Why would someone unnecessarily put their jobs at risk ... that is true for the vast majority of us is it not?
    2) Half of us have an IQ below average, perhaps it is wise to stick to the short and narrow for many of us?
    3) Being unambitious at work, might allow us to excel in other areas in our lives, eg posting on VT?

    1) there’s people who put their jobs at risk on a daily basis, not sure what your asking?

    2) I haven’t referred to IQ my reference has always been regarding ambition and experience.

    3) ambition is differ t for everybody those are people’s individual choices, not sure how it relates to anything I’ve stated.

    No I didn't.

Yes it has. We voted for it last season. It's on the shirt at the moment.

    Didn't say they weren't.

    ???

Are you saying if you don't want expensive tickets you don't want European football?

Please don't say that. It's very silly.

    Yes they will.

Ticket sales make up around 10% of our revenue just so you know. Probably 5-7% if we qualify for Champions League.

These cushy jobs sound interesting. Is that what you do for a living?

Funny how your responses reflect ignoring the facts, just to support your closed opinion.

In relation to last seasons badge that was Purslow he left the building if you missed the memo and I was referring to the debate around the new badge which hasn’t been released only what ifs….

My comment around ticket prices is it is inevitable that ticket prices and other costs will go up to improve the team on the field, our money will have more impact on profit and sustainability than the owners.

PS I didn’t say anything about cushy jobs, I talked about unambitious people who work in mundane jobs and don’t have to try to hard and their job is never at risk, it’s the difference between the public and private sector.

Im sure you’ll come back will some piece mealed out of context reply, but it has become boring, I can’t help you if you don’t get it.

Yeah, but bearing in mind the various issues seen so far, is this guy the right guy? That's the question that needs answering. We'll see. Not a good start.

What on earth does this mean?

I'll judge him on everything at Villa off the pitch, because he's the CEO.

It's been an absolute shit show this season IMO. Communication with fans being non-existent/dishonest is not the way to work.

Whacking up ticket prices 50-150% isn't some genius move only a clever-clogs business man thinks of. If other areas of the club don't improve I'm sure we can find someone in the world who could sign off on that, and not **** up a badge consultation and upset various fan groups.

Unai doing an incredible job doesn't let others off.

You forgot to mention in your opinion. You cherry picked quotes with examples of your opinion, when a lot of fans have a different opinion. You go on about the badge but nothing has been released, ticket prices, but they are linked to revenue and the fan base either wants European football or they don’t, the owners aren’t going to continue to put there hands in their pockets, the fans also have to for it to have an impact on our profit and sustainability. Not surprising you don’t get the Council quote meaning, there are jobs where you can float through life and not be challenged and your job is guaranteed and others were you are expected to perform and will be replaced if you don’t.

As I said before, there's been more than one confirmation from reputable people who know current club staff that have confirmed it to be accurate.

You may choose not to believe them...that's your prerogative.

Well I don’t know who these reputable people are? How are they reputable? Hard to believe something when you’re not in the loop of those in the know? More chance of winning lotto than guessing who these people are and whether they are reputable.

yes, we're talking about allegations, no one is saying they're factual. but there's a lot of smoke here (based on several reputable people with connections to the club indicating there's truth to them) that means that it's worth discussing

There nothing wrong with discussing them, but some have jumped to believing them without providing any substance other than an anonymous letter. I’d rather judge it when all the information is made available, if it ever comes to light.
