  1. Only realized when I was making out the list but my god there is a lot of shit managers in the premiership at the moment. As regard Don Simon, what I meant was there was a possibility we could have just wanted to chat with him as was the case with Martinez, after all he did only finish one place lower than Martinez. He hasn't done that bad a job in fairness to him. However I wouldn't want him anywhere near the place.

  2. Just a quick summary, we obviously sent out letters to a lot of clubs within the premiership.

Arsenal - Wenger - Hardly sent a letter

Birmingham - McLeish - Could well have sent a letter

    Blackburn - Kean - Hope we didn't.

    Blackpool - Holloway - Hope we didn't.

Bolton - Coyle - Could well have enquired.

    Chelsea - ? -

Everton - Moyes - More than likely enquired.

    Fulham - Hughes/Jol - Probably didn't.

Liverpool - Kenny - Most definitely did not.

Man City - Mancini - Most definitely did not.

Man Utd - Fergie - Most definitely did not.

Norwich - Lambert - Could well have.

    Newcastle - Pardew - Pray we didn't.

QPR - Warnock - Unlikely we enquired.

    Stoke - Pulis - Possibly.

Sunderland - Bruce - Possibly but unlikely.

    Swansea - Rodgers - Unlikely.

Tottenham - Redknapp - Highly unlikely.

WBA - Hodgson - Possibly but unlikely.

West Ham - Allardyce - Highly unlikely.

    Wigan - Martinez - Enquired.

Wolves - MacCarthy - Could have but hope not.

Does anyone think there's like a bit of teasing going on between the managers who got a letter and those who didn't?

  3. Im really not fond of Ancelotti being manager. He has never built a team and he could struggle because of this.

     :?

From what I can see players of note that he bought include Rivaldo, Tomasson, Nesta, Seedorf, Kaka, Stam, Crespo, Jankulovski, Cafu, Ronaldo, Oddo, Pato, Zambrotta, Flamini, Ronaldinho, Beckham.

for all them great players he signed he won 1 league title and 2 Champions League in 8 years at Milan. Not that great a record

I'd settle for that down the Villa.

Carlo would be the most decorated manager Villa have had in the modern era. There is no way we shouldn't be jumping at the chance if it came up.

If someone had told you 12months ago that we might be signing him people would call you crazy, and rightly so.

He picked up a Milan side with Maldini out for the bulk of the season who were in the bottom half of the table, steadied the ship and guided them to 4th. In his first full season he won the Champions League. Let's remember he should have won another one bar 8 minutes of madness in Turkey. With regard the League, Juventus were spending mad in those days buying the like of Cannavaro, Buffon, Thuram, Nedved, Vieira had A.D.P etc a real great side, plus there was the fact that Capello had built a strong Roma side. Serie A is a shadow of what it was like back then now. And when the big scandal got out the club never really recovered from it, which made Inter the dominant force! He comes to Chelsea wins the double. Cruising to his 2nd League title when his assistant is fired behind his back. He has to deal with player unrest etc

  4. The argument was that he had never built a team, all of those signings were at Milan and I left out Thiago Silva btw. So he clearly has built a team. Obviously he would have no where near the same draw at Villa that he had at AC or Chelsea that is a given, but I'm sure he would be able to persuade players that would be slightly out of our reach currently to join us just because of who he is.

  5. Slightly OT well actually quite OT but My uncle met a fella down the local last night who said his missus was a solicitor for Chelski and that Arry was on his way to Chelsea late next week, and proceeded to show him a £500 bet @ 7/1. Which could mean Hughes obviously not going there or on his way to Spurs but could also scupper our bid for Carlo if Spurs came in for him. Obviously lots of things have to happen for such a domino effect!

  6. Can somebody explain to me why Benitez is a no go?! He was brilliant at Liverpool! And he has won more stuff than anybody on that list - almost. Why the ****, would we want a manager from the championship?! Makes no sense what so ever.

For me personally I think it's the fact he pissed away a lot of cash at Pool. Yeah I'm aware he bought Torres, Alonso, Reina etc, but time after time he got it wrong, and dare I say he's just another younger version of Houiller!

  7. David Moyes 1

    Rafael Benitez 5/2

    Sam Allardyce 5

    Mark Hughes 7

    Kevin Macdonald 8

    Martin Jol 8

    Steve McClaren 8

    Jurgen Klinsmann 12

    Sven Goran Eriksson 12

    Ray Wilkins 16

    Gianfranco Zola 16

    Didier Deschamps 20

    Guus Hiddink 20

    Fabio Capello 25

    Frank Rijkaard 25

    Louis Van Gaal 25

    Slaven Bilic 25

    Jose Mourinho 33

    Martin ONeill 33

    Diego Maradona 33

    Gordan Cowans 50

    Ray Graydon 50

    Alan McInally 250

    Morley Tony 500

  8. A similar thing happened in Mons first season if I remember correctly we flirted with relegation and could not find a win but drew about 15 games. Ultimately finishing what 11th? And the league was no where near this tight that year. That was the year Mon got in Ash Carew in Jan and really started to put his own stamp on the team, give Ged the summer and if he hasnt clicked it but early October, ship him on out!
