  1. Come on MON. Delph for Sidders- give him an ovation. And Fonzie for Gabby
  2. Listening to it on WM. Franksy was just asked, "are villa missing petrov?" his answer, "er....no....not one bit. I just don't see what he brings to the party" But then admitted he'll be back in when fit.
  3. I thought that too. Yeah I'd love to see Delph. I'd've started him. I think he would play a similar role to sidwell, but a lot better
  4. Didn't think Milner would be back for this one. Ok, I would have gone Delph over Sidders, and I'm slightly disappointed that he's gone for two wingers in a 4-4-2 again. Nevertheless, it has a much more balanced look than the 4 4 2 with petrov, and the fact that NRC is captain is good news. For once I'm verging on confidence. We should have too much for bolton anyway. 2-0 win, Milner and Carew to score, and NRC to dominate!
  5. He is usually missing for about 60 minutes of every game anyway, so it will be like playing with 11 men today imo. And we didnt miss him in pre season
  6. Delph was a bit naive in his first game (although I thought he was the one that carried any threat for us), but he was a potential man of the match against Cardiff, and at Blackburn he was taken off when he was the best player in the front 6. From what I can remember these are the 3 games he has played. Unfortunately he hasn't been given a chance to express himself as yet by MON, due to him playing him with Petrov which is pointless, as Delph is stifled by attempting to Petrov's dirty work, which I don't think he is comfortable with. There's a chance for him today to shine.
  7. If he picks Heskey at left wing again I will have a very sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. With Petrov suspended he has an ideal chance to play a system that works. For me... ..................Friedel Young Collins Dunne © Warnock .......Reo Coker Sidwell Delph ..........................Young ........Carew Gabby Give Young the freedom to express himself, and play a central three, which doesn't mean playing NRC at RW. I'm relishing the prospect of a dynamic midfield (Sidwell aside). And please don't move Gabby to the right to accommodate Heskey either MON. There would be one or two options on the bench, but I think we'd have more than enough with this team. The Fonz's movement v a tiring Knight could be interesting, and young albrighton v an ageing paul robison at LB?
  8. Sorry but I disagree. Instead we try and shoe-horn Heskey into the team. Albrighton has been nothing short of a match-winner in every first team match I've seen him in. He nearly won the Peace Cup on his own. He has genuine quality and he seems to have the head to handle first team opportunities - and that's an intangible quality you can only gauge once he's playing in the first team. With Milner out and us playing 2nd from bottom this was exactly the right stage for him. He has sat on the bench long enough chomping at the bit. It's clear now that O'Neill is absolutely petrified to make changes to his teams to the extent that any enforced changes are made using trusted senior players in unfamiliar positions. It is infuriating and suggests he might not have what it takes to truly to get to the top. The fact he holds pathetic grudges too reflects badly on him. I'm really angry with tonight's result main because it was avoidable if we'd picked a proper team with balance and personnel in their rightful positions rather than patched it together unnecessarily. seconded BOF
  9. Beautifully put, off topic as it might be perhaps we should cheer ourselves up by guessing what he might bring back......if he didn't get lost on the way back of course. A tub of durex maybe, with a few visits to various places on the way back...
  10. It is people like you why I rarely use this site anymore. Get a **** grip, draw a few games and lose ONE and it's sack him. No wonder we get a reputation. shock selctive quoting. Look at the whol of my post, i include reasonings behing my feelings and even state in there taht i still want him gone even after we beat Chelsea. I've been of this opinion after the Rapid Vienna Home game as it was clear he hasn't learnt from last season. There is seemingly no logic in the personnel & position of his line - ups, the tactics. This is a discussion forum - i'm putting forward an opposing view to yours and a lot of others- I'm trying to back up my argument to stimulate sensible debate. I'm aware most peopel thing he's amazing - I don't I sympathise with you, read my post above and see if you agree?
  11. I for one do not advocate the sacking of O'Neill, I think he does too much good for the club in terms of its image, and I think the hard working/british and quality aspect of his signings is excellent. However as soon as anyone even vaguely mentions the sacking of MON they are immediately shot down in flames by anti negativity/fickleness posters, and I find this a bit irritating. Afterall, most of us are angry, and we all support Villa no matter what. But these people although they clearly go over the top, I can sympathise with, because I have got to say I've got to the stage where I couldn't care less because of these shocking tactics, and I actually feel that MON deserves not to win these games due to his stubbornness and refusal to use systems that work. I didn't punch the wall in frustration tonight when West ham's winner went in. MON deserved nothing from the game. However I would have certainly punched the wall if liverpool had come back against us at Anfield. If this system is deployed for the rest of the season we will end up as a very average side. If right systems are deployed then we have the personnel, attitude and the MON motivation to challenge the top 4 or even more on the evidence that i've seen. MON needs to take a sharp step out of the 1970s in terms of his attitude to tactics and team selection, because it baffles beyond belief and is costing us points. I'm being neutral and realistic, and while I think wanting him out is ludicrous at the moment, I can see why people have lost faith, because I'm frustrated beyond belief by that man at the moment, and have been for some time.
  12. I know its silly but this is an example of what O'Neill would have done if he'd have been ManUre manager (and he had Ibrahimovic)- tonight he would have played a front 6 of Nani...Scholes...Anderson...Berbatov .........Rooney......Ibrahimovic Nani is a left sided player who likes to cut inside, and there is no protection in midfield. At half time, with owen, carrick, giggs, neville, valencia and hargreaves on the bench, he switches nani to left mid where he should be, takes berbatov off after realising he is crap at left mid, and brings on owen hargreaves at right mid (a central player) and he puts himself about a bit. As the match wears on and Nani scores a wondergoal from the position he should be playing in and missing a pen when he shouldn't be taking one in an otherwise innefectual game, Scholes is 35 and dead on his feet and Anderson has had a hard working but poor game. However he doesn't change it and eventually WesBrown after a poor game at right back gets sent off, and the ineffective Ibra finally comes off to be replaced by than man who should have started at RB anyway, Neville. Ultimately the tiring midfield is inevitably torn apart in the last minute, as it has been for the entire 2nd half. Sorry, I am a geek, and very annoyed, and am up for a bit of MON bashing. Just to put a different slant on tonight.
  13. Did Delph not start again Wigan? Was he not poor? There's a reason MON won't just throw kids on like that. Don't know if he'll get a chance in that case then, or why he bought him. In the games i've seen him play, Delph has always been our best midfield player, yet he is always the one withdrawn, because Mighty Stan the Man could be playing on crutches and still not be taken off. Delph was terrible against Wigan. He tried well enough, but his passes were poor, he couldn't take players on, his tackles were bad. He deserved to be dropped and showed why you can't just put kids in. Did you watch us against Cardiff and Blackburn? He was arguably our best player in both games.

  16. He may not have done anything wrong but did he do anything right? This. As far as i can see Heskey does nothing. It's hard to criticise what he does do because he doesn't do anything but charge around and occasionally head the ball. Obviously MON knows more than any of us on this forum but sometimes i do wonder at some of his decisions. I don't know why Delph was considered a first team choice on the firts game of the season but now can't even make an appearance when we've got injuries and gash like Heskey on the pitch. I just hope MON changes it against Bolton and gives the like sof Albrighton and Delph a go ahead of Heskey. The way MON conducts himself off the field and the decision making making there is superb. At the side of the pitch, well i've questioned pritty much all of his decisions now for a long time (bar those in the liverpool, fulham and blose games when they were forced). I'm sure it's his decision making (or lack of) that is costing us points. And we're not missing barry. We won 2 games 1-0 with him in the side in the 2nd half of last season. And did u see him against blose? He was shit.
  17. feel exactly the same mate Well enjoy the Lyon game you two. These two posts perfectly illustrate the ridiculous fickleness of some of our fans. "I don't agree with the team selection so I'll not be watching." Would our reaction be different if MON plays a system that works? Yes it would. Some people are tired of the same system failing every week. You follow your club no matter what, no excuses to the comments, incredibly fickle. How utterly ridiculous! Have I said I'm not following them? I'm simply adverse to our best players being wasted and points being dropped by playing wrong teams. I want the best for Villa.
  18. Go team Petrov and Sidwell! Made even better by switching our main attacking threat to RM and playing two big men up front! Superb. Have to put my negative thoughts across in a positive manner.

  20. I actually put that team selection up as a joke MON selection earlier. And look what happened lol.
  21. About 75%. 15% for the second half team at Everton. 9% for any version of 4-5-1. And 1% for the same 11 if Milner is fit.
  22. Yeah Jez, I think there's a hefty dose of favouritism under MON. Shorey, Beye and NRC certainly don't fall into that category, and there was a period where Big John was subjected to it as well. And he strongly favours experience over youth. I think the Fonz, Delph and Albrighton would have done a better job than those in the 1st 11 at times this season.
