  1. 1. Who knows, we could have bid aswell! 2. My feeling is that Sneijder is worth 15mill, and I think that would be a bargin. He is THAT good! If we were able to sign him, I think I would go crazy.... Bayern bid was 14m euros. £9m would get him. £10m would get him and a handjob from ajax chairman.
  2. Again with the V-D-Vaart situation, Bayern are the club rumoured. No champions league football, and there own fans consider themselves a smaller club now. Cheeky bid, Prem. football, provided no top, TOP clubs bid too? He'd come here like a shot. And Vincent Kompany is there too.
  3. That is true, though if it hadnt crossed his mind, it prob will have after the article in the mail(?). It is as you've said, its quite possible that he looked and didnt fancy it. It would be great tho wouldnt it?
  4. At the moment Valencia is the only club sniffing around him who have CL football to offer. They havent met the evaluation, Bayern havent qualified for CL and neither have Ajax. But your right a problem would arise if a top4 club came in.
  5. To be fair he probably WILL sign for Valencia, my only argument was that he isnt ungettable.
  6. How much do they value him at though? Id imagine in excess of £15mil? Bayern had a bid accepted but he didnt want to move to germany. 14m euro's/ £9.5m That looks like a bargain in my books - only have to match our record transfer and then we can try and persuade him to sign! Exactly. Out of our league tho isnt he?!!

  8. Cue Van Bommel would never sign for us posts, cos I'm ready for em.....
  9. IMO Sneijder is just inside the top end of our capabilities so I'm a bit more optimistic than yourself, loving you van bommel suggestion
  10. He can want all he likes if they wont match Ajax valuation.
  11. On what basis? The fact that he plays for Wigan? Obviously Rocafella has spoken and we should all shut up then.
  12. Scharner is quite decent and certainly as back up
  13. Their bid was rejected. They keep upping it though. Could go tits up, but I doubt Ajax will keep him against his will. And that was Thursday and still not even a bigger bid. i'm not saying he won't I'm just disagreeing that we should forget about him now, because it's far from over. And if he does go there then either Baraja or David Albelda or Edu become pushed out. I'd take any of them.
  14. I don't think Foster will ever make it as first team keeper for United for the simple reason he isn't good enough. For that reason I hope we don't sign him either because I feel he no better than Sorenson. I've seen plenty of him over the last 2 seasons and I disagree. I'd be chuffed if we could bring him in. I'm with you I think Foster is a fine keeper, VDS is 36, and we only have the papers word for it that Man Utd want another keeper. I'd take Gordon first but I'd still take foster over Tommy.
  15. Just another player that is 'good' cos he plays for man utd. Like Luke Chadwick. And Bardsley. How would eagles enhance our squad? And hes older than Gabby, luke and Gardner. Is he a better prospect than any of them?
  16. i like the look of this list, except for the strikers, bent would be good, but why defoe? i really dont rate this guy, we dot need him, also RB, i dont mind either jagielka or young, also, we wont get parker Why on earth wouldn't we get parker??? Did they finish above us? No Are they a bigger club? No Is Big Sam as good a manager as MON? No are they in europe? No Has he wasted 2 years playing in a shit team that has got nowhere to go? Yes Newc. wouldnt want to let him go but I would never, NEVER say he belonged on a list of players that we wouldnt be able to get.
  17. IMO nobody on that list is good enough (maybe Pizarro) to take us up a level. Saviola is very inconsistent in his performances. Metzelder is a level above what we have now as he's like a fit laursen
  18. Our former 'dear leader' Chairman Ellis used to have a number of portraits of himself around the innards of the club depicting him as 'MR Aston Villa'. Now that he is gone I was wondering if they were still in place. Either way can we replace them with this?
  19. Kluiverts last three clubs have all allowed him to leave for sod all. He's shite
  20. The fact that he's in a lesser league and not with the big boys of that league suggests to me that he is very gettable and would welcome a move to England. Forget Bellamy, Smith and Nugent, it's gotta be this lad or Darren Bent for me. Would love him but £10m wouldn't get him. They want about e20m which is what £14m? I think that we need a striker who is a class above the current crop of british strikers. If he costs 20 million euros then I think Randy will happily pay it. Well if their asking just under 14m quid, a bit of negotiating would get him for 11/12m. Its a gamble but what top signing isn't. And I dont subscribe to the idea that Kezman failed, more that Chelsea played one up front and more often than not that one was drogba. Kezman never got a chance to settle. This kid is clearly a good player and he's scored goals for the team that came fourth. Kezman and V.nistelrooy played for the top team when they got all their goals. Yes he'd be a gamble, and I don't know who mentioned smith as being proven in the prem but one things for sure. With Smith return of 45 goals in 233 appearences, playing for two very good sides, I'd agree that he wouldn't be a gamble cos you already KNOW he wont score enough goals.

  22. This is why I started this thread, because although I have some vague knowledge that Wolves were once a big club, for somone of my generation West Brom seems the bigger club, due to their exploits during the eighties, and more recently, slightly more prem exp. However my major aim was to demonstrate how Villa's stock came to be so low around the country. If I don't know, or don't care to know about the proud history of a club so close to my doorstep, how can I expect fans around the country to respect my clubs illustrious past. Particularly Geordies and scousers who genuinely seem to believe that they invented football!
