Right here is the scenario. Girl gives me her number last Sunday, and for the first 3 days she seems very keen always texting back within a minute. Makes it clear she wants to meet up but tells me she works during the week. But then on Thursday things change slightly. I ring her and she does not pick up. She then says she is having a nap (at 5.30 in the evening), and will call me back when she has woken up. She did not call back. So i waited til today to text her again asking if she wants to meet. Her reply is that "she is working all week so cant meet during the week". So I reply with what about the weekend or after work. 5 hours later no reply.

I understand it is hard for you to judge the situation without seeing the texts etc. But would you just leave it now, or ring her?

Just leave it, wait until she texts you. She might think you're being a bit keen.

If she doesn't get back to you then it just wasn't meant to be.

The VT Poker tounaments were quite good fun to start with - shame the interest dwindled. Would be good to get it going again

If they were to get going again i'd certainly be interested in playing in a weekly (if that's what it is?) tournament.

Used to play poker full time, 6-8 tables at NL200, made a more than acceptable living out of it for a fair few years, I think I posted some of my monthly graphs on here before.

Also, read books, there's a ton of excellent books that will teach you some decent strategy that if you follow will make you profitable right up to NL50 with east. If you only read one, make it Theory of Poker by David Sklansky.

I'd quite like to get to the level where i would be able to make a decent sum of money, not necessarily play full-time but just to get a few more quid.

I haven't heard that, but i had heard another one to read was Super/System by Doyle Brunson.

I played tonight, bought in to a tournament (only £2.30) and promptly had a blazing row with the missus with her going on at me whilst trying to play. Made a bit and then lost it all pretty sharpish, and went all-in on top pair without thinking about it and is something i wouldn't have done so early on, especially as he went all in on the river as a second six came out. She is definitely getting the blame for that one.

I've had a look for any recent topics to do with poker and couldn't find any, so if there are apologies.

Anyway, how many people on here play poker, professionally or recreationallly? You had any big wins or bad beats, and how much will you play for?

I've been playing a few months now and just getting in to it, and have started playing for money a fair bit and been doing alright. So just wondering if anyone has any tips, and well as any stories etc.

She shouldn't be taking everything out on you and don't become a doormat just because she's struggling to fit you in. After all the shit in her day, you should be the fun part of the day. If she can't manage a smile then there's something else wrong.

Completely agree with this.

It shouldn't be just you changing your routine, and making all the sacrifices to accommodate her. She may be stressed out, but it's no excuse to give you shit and ignore you.

You can't keep going out of your way whilst she does nothing to fix things between you both, in the end she'll get used to doing nothing, and expect you to make all the effort in the relationship. If i was you i'd try and take it easy, and let her (and yourself) cool off, if she wants you she'll let you know.

I wouldn't if i didn't live literally a five minute walk from Old Trafford.

Been looking at trains and prices for this game, the only possible route I can see from Birmingham to Norwich on the actual day of the game to get you there in time is ridiculous.

Leaves Birmingham at 8.30, to London Euston, followed by a tube to Kings Cross, then a train to Cambridge, then a train to Norwich arriving at 2.15 so not enough time for a pub session pre match. This is pushing £90 too :/

Cans on the train, cheaper than the pub. That'll make up some of the £90.

Although the coach is a much better option, i went with Redditch supporters club for the Stoke game on Boxing day, they allow cans on the coach and got there in decent time.

Seem to have hit a brick wall in division three. Had straight promotions, and then bang, start losing a few and winning a few. What ever i do i can't seem to score, i'll batter the oppostion but constantly miss, it's doing my head in, not had this problem before. They'll have to shots and score both. Arghhh.

I got from south birmingham to manchester in 2 and a half hours on the train last year.

You'd have got a fast train from Birmingham to Manchester.

Pretty sure it's a rattler from Leeds to Liverpool with around 300 stops.

This is one i would've gone to, but since we played there in the F.A. cup i'm not going. I'm guessing a few others have done the same. Also the football being played is dire.
