  1. Its funny from where I was seated I missed the flight of the ball and didnt really see it go in. Looking back on MOTD what a cracker! I think we will see the best of Vlaar next year now he has had a year to settle into English Football.

  2. Was a entertaining end of season game. Credit to both sides to make it interesting. Both cant defend so goals were expected really.Like everyone says defence again rubbish today but Vlaar dug us out of a hole.  Guzan was not a happy camper at all with them. I was right at the front of the stand and I didnt really see the goal ! Draw probably a fair result. Credit to wigan for clapping Petrov's 19th minute, and fair play to them winning the cup.  I really didnt expect Petrov to come out at the end, what a moment. Its always one of the best away days so they will be missed in that respect. Does anyone know what the attendance was- cant mind it anywhere in the media?

  3. Baker's Half Dozen-Villa win League Cup for 6th time

Make mine a double- Lambert's Lions now FA Cup winners

Bring on Bayern- Villa to meet Munich in next year Champions League

We will bounce back say Clarke as West Brom are relegated

etc, etc. Nice to dream eh!

  4. According to Wikipedia (so not sure how true it is) he has scored only 7 goals for Blackpool this year? I cant see him making it at Villa now. I believe he has a year left on his contract, so time to sell. If we can get a million for him, it will help pay towards the youth set.I would wish him well for the future, but I cant see his future at Villa.

  5. Thought maybe they would have a villa-celtic game this summer to raise money for Stan's charity? Perhaps they have decided to wait for another year to get the ball rolling first. I am sure it would get 2 sell outs.

  6. Murray is okay, but I think about a hour a week of him on Fighting Talk is about enough frankly. Mind you I would have him over 'chappers'. What has happen to BBC Sport? Its declined into a bunch of fawning, cheesy, blokes around the golf club bunch, bland shite.  Coleman, Davies, Butler, Jones. Professionals. Coleman left when BBC Sport was separated from BBC News, and you can correlate the drop off. It helps to have some professonal training when doing your job, like being able to speak and make sense. Which Savage and Lowro often fail to do.

  7. Too much too young. Football's equivalent to Michael Jackson. Without the plastic surgery and court cases.  I just can't wait for him on MOTD next season, he will be so interesting. Then along with Shearer and Lineker they can all makes jokes about scoring goals. Oh the humanity.

  8. Probably not no. If I was a Norwich fan I would be worried. As the championship has been of varying quality this year, I would guess Hull and the playoff winner would be favourites to go down. Cardiff if they keep Mackay and spend a bit might be okay. Swansea might struggle with the extra games. Stoke we can only hope they will drop. As for Sunderland they could come in the top 10 or come 20th, I have no idea. As long as Villa come mid table, I dont really care!

  9. I wonder if all this extra money will go to cheaper tickets, subsided travel for fans, youth development,  and better stadia? Or to agents, hangers-on, deeply average footballers and bigger manager compensation deals? Hmmmn.

On another note, due to the silly money on offer even to finish a few places higher the table, gone is the old traditional fashion of blooding youngsters in the last few games of the season. This is a real shame. Shout out to Crewe though who played a youth XI in their last game this year- and won.

  10. Still feeling nice and relaxed from yesterday! I just hope this proves this isnt another false dawn. I dont want  to see us scrabbling around 18th in the table in January ever again. For the first time in a long time it feels like Villa have a plan, have continuity, and have optimism. Please don't mess this one up.

  11. I would love it if they give us the whole end but how can the club sell 2,000 tickets and send them in the post in 2 days? I dont think its going to happen. Shame.

  12. I'm heartened by peoples' affinity with Westwood. It's like they've learned their lessons from Petrov. In a way I think Petrov's absence from the side and the subsequent realisation of what he added to the team has given people an appreciation for Westwood.

Spot on pal. I am sooo exicted about Westwood. He really does look the business and looks eager to learn. What a signing. From league two to a regular starter in the prem in a year, and at 23 years of age. Future captain material methinks. Night all-and what a night!

  13. I just hope we have some sort of consistency next season. It could be a reverse of this term- start of like a train, be around 7-9th at Xmas, everyone gets exicted, we fall apart and come 15th. It would be daft to expect amazing free flowing football every game and a watertight defence, but as long as we carry on making the right steps in tactics, in players, and in self-belief, then the future looks quite postive. I havent said that probably since O'Neill's 2nd season.

  14. All of Reading's players are not good enough. Wigan's are a bit meh- I mean we have already tried with Maloney,, and their defence is even worse than ours.  Arry says the QPR team isnt good enough for the championship, so probably not. At a pinch Hoilett could maybe be rescused from the shambles at Loftus Road. I still think there is a decent footballer in there. Other than that, not that tempted.
