Nothing wrong with the maths. If the reports are correct, he's been offered 25m over 4 years. What he earned at Villa has nothing to do with that at all. Do you honestly think any player of Fabian Delph's ability and history would be right in the head to turn down that kind of money to play for a club like Man City?

Equally, I'd say that by releasing Given from his contract and by keeping Guzan on-board, Sherwood is suggesting that he does regard Guzan as our best keeper.

I agree.... why havent we tried to sign Buffon as our 3rd choice keeper.......everyone out!!!!!

 

Problem is we need a 1st choice not third, we now have 4 keepers(hopefully 3 shortly if Given leaves) and still need another.

Strange move I would say. It is a new no.1 I think we need. Unless Steer is going out on loan and we bring another in.

The only concern for me is that going from Begovic to Bunn could be a sign that the finances have shrunk recently or maybe Goose is going as well and we are still after a proven goalie?

The problem I see with the Bunn signing would be that we are fine for back up Keepers I don't see the point in buying a keeper unless he is better than Guzan.

I probably haven't seen enough of him at club level to decide if he is better than Guzan. Can't believe he is only 28 though. Seems to be around forever for Argentina

A great GK in his prime .Sadly he was slightly passed it when he joined and for ridiculous wages. Wish him all the best but glad to have him off the wage bill . hopefully Tim goes out and signs a really good No.1 now.

The popular deadline day reporter will compere the event, which starts at 5pm and will be screened live here on our official website.

 

Our home and away strips for the 2015/16 campaign will be revealed for the first time.

 

There has been a teaser campaign, featuring players Christian Benteke, Jack Grealish, Ciaran Clark and Gabby Agbonlahor.

 

Four of our players will model the tops for the unveiling on Tuesday.

 

They are new boys Micah Richards and Scott Sinclair along with Grealish and Clark.

When you are in the position Villa are in sometimes you will have to pay a little bit more than other clubs to get good players.

Seriously if West Brom are sold for 150 mill, we are surely worth 250+.... If I were Lerner I'd be very very tempted to hold tight for now, walk away from any operational duties, let Fox, Sherwood and co do their jobs for a season or 2 and look at selling in a few years time. Right now he is pretty much a distressed seller having made his intention to sell very public, we've just narrowly avoid relegation, have one of worse squads in recent memory etc..

Let's say things go well with Sherwood and we make some more astute signings, fast forward 2 years we could be finishing in the top half of the league with the club in way better health, he might even be able to recoup his entire investment and some from a sale under those conditions.

Or more likely ,the club continues in the same way as the last 4 years and we finally succumb to relegation and his investment takes another massive hit.

The reports I have read said McKay was actually representing Lille in the transfer not Gueye.
